Sorry for being late, here is the detailed Ride details for Bangalore Pre-ride:

Most Important:
Have mutual respect for everyone irrespective of bike, club or anything. Please bring a "Smile" with you .


Riding Gears:
Helmets: Full face are a must. If you don't buy it now, you will not do it for the ISG2G. No "Time" excuses please, its for your basic safety.
Jackets: Riding Jackets are custom made for this else bionic full-body are also ok.
Riding Gloves: Proper riding gloves - Cycling/Gym/Half gloves are a big No.
Riding Pants: Knee Guards / Hip Guards in case you are not using riding pants.
Shoes: If not a proper riding shoe, any tough leather shoes are bare minimum. Sport shoes/Chappals/Sandals are strictly prohibited.

For the final ride, a good rain liner/gear to protect you from rain. In all probability Kerala will have rains. Also make arrangements for your luggage like rain cover,tarpaulin.

If anybody wants to divert from the above said rules, request to ride separately.


Necessary Documents (Original & copies)
Valid Driving License.
PUC(Pollution Under control) or Emission certificate.
Proper registration documents for the bike.
Valid Insurance Papers.
Also carry one of the identity cards with proper photograph like Pan Card/Voter Id Card/Passport.
Please carry them because if you are riding in groups and get caught, everyone is inconvenienced.


Ride formations:
Since the group is smaller this time and maximum is 2 lane roads (each side), I suggest to have a one group/one lane formation of 90-100kmph.
However, some final decisions of splitting the groups (if any) will have to be taken by the Group leader depending on the Route/Terrain, conditions etc..

This is a request to all of you to adhere to group riding ethics.
The group sweep and lead will be decided before the ride, based on the participation of group rides earlier and also familiarity with the route.

The route that we will be taking is simple : Bangalore -> Ramnagara -> Channapatna -> Maddur CCD

Meeting point and Time:
Meet at NICE ROAD Toll gate & Mysore Road intersection sharp at 5 am 7th Sept Sunday
5:15 we should leave...


As you already know, I will not be riding to the final ISG2G so its Atkins Cherian who would be the Group leader from Bangalore.

Needed info on the Ooty - Mysore route

I would be riding from Mysore - Ooty - Mysore - Madikeri

Is the route/ghat from Bandipur to ooty 1 way..?? & what would be the weather conditions around 18-19-20 October, does it rain usually during October?

The ghat section is not one way but operates both ways. The Kalhatty ghats are generally closed for downhill only on sundays /long weekends to make way for uphill traffic. Even if it happens it will be only post noon , not before that.

There might ne rains around the time frame you have quoted, in all probability drizzles to light rains , no heavy rains.

Had heard about the ghat being closed for return jorney..!! I would be returning on Monday from Ooty..Hopefully it wont be closed.

Wonder how does 1 get back to Mysore if it is closed & 1 has to return back, worst case scenario.

There are two routes to Ooty from Theppakadu junction. One via Gudalur(75Kms appx) and another via Kalhatty and Masinagudi(36kms). The Gudalur route will open for traffic thought (From Bandipur, it will be from 6Am to 9PM). The closure I mentioned was only for Kalhatty route. For Mondays there wont be any problem. So you don't have to worry even if Kalhatty is closed.

Hello All,

Here is the ride plan for XBHP Bangalore Chapter.

Let's start at early morning (5:00 AM) on 12th Sep 2014 and reach the destination by (2:00 PM)

Starting Point: Nice Road Junction on Mysore Road

Before we go to the plan, let's ensure that we follow the Mandatory XBHP Riding Code:

> Ensure that your Motorcycle is in top condition.
Engine, Airfilter, Oil, Tyres, Battery, Chain...need to checked. Incase if you think something is not right, please get it fixed prior to the ride itself.

Headlights, Tail Lamps, Indicators should be in good condition

> No Drinking allowed prior or during the ride

> Mandatory Documents of the vehicle should be available for inspection prior to the ride

> Mandatory Gears are a MUST

> Avoid over taking and showing your special skills during the ride

If anyone is found not to be adhering to the codes, would not be permitted for the group ride

GEAR

Mandatory Gear : If you do not have this, you *cannot* join for this ride
- Helmet (Of at least ISI standards)
- Full Pants (Of Thick material like denim. No shorts, etc)
- Full Jacket (Preferably of thick material like Denim)
- Shoes (No sandals,chappals etc)
- Be prepared for rain (Carry your stuff in a water proof packing)

Mandatory Documents:
- Vehicle RC Book (Smart Card)
- Polution Under Control Certificate
- Valid Insurance Document

Recommended Gear : Over and above the Mandatory gear, its for your own safety if you have the following

- Armoured Riding Jacket
- Armoured Riding Gloves
- Knee Guards
- Armoured Riding Boots
- Rain Gear

Formation & Riding Rules

- Since we have just 12~14 people, let's have one group and keep an average speed which all can maintain
- There will be a Lead & Sweep rider. This will be decided prior to the ride.
- We will be riding only in Staggered/Single File formation.
- Use of hand signals are encouraged.
- Taking breaks in between is not recommended, it breaks the group and screws up the harmony. Please avoid as much as possible.
- Minimize overtaking within the group
- If this is your first time with us, please don't show us your heroics. Instead see how everyone else is riding.
- Ensure that you have enough fuel before you start the ride. Please ensure your tank is full before the ride.

Hello guys, it's been ages since i posted in this thread. However, the place i had visited was so damn tempting with nature and hills and lake that i just felt like posting it here.
The place is called thattekere, located amidst the bannerughatta forest range. It's like, you have to go inside the forest for 2-3kms to reach the lake. Roads are good with spiked barricades on either sides to avoid wild animals coming towards the road. Few pics clicked:-

Could not take shots of the beautiful roads unfortunately. You do encounter ghat like roads with hills in the distance, giving you a sense of calmness!

Later we headed out towards pearl valley. However, what we did was way crazy! We got down rite to where the falls was, crossed it and climbed the opposite hill. I would not call that trekking! Cause most of the times, we were on all fours, beating through the bushes. And ultimately, we lost ourselves!
So we pitched up a tent and just enjoyed the view, and based on instincts alone, made our way back to the falls, this time from a better route!

It would be nice to go to these places again, but with like minded folks, which would ensure double fun!
