Harley Davidson has unveiled Roadster 1200 based on its recently launched Sportster 1200. The new bike will join the firm’s Sportster range. This motorcycle has only essential elements of a pure riding machine as per Harley Davidson.
Harley-Davidson Director of Styling Brad Richards said – “Since its introduction in 1957, the Harley-Davidson Sportster has proved capable of constant reinvention, and the Roadster writes a new chapter in that story. We’ve watched our customers take the Sportster in so many different directions. The Roadster is a mash-up of styling genres, but the intent was to build a rider’s motorcycle, a Sportster that’s lean and powerful and connects the rider to the road.”
The Harley Davidson Roadster has under gone many changes in comparison to the Sportster 1200. The new motorcycle gets new Offset-Split 5-Spoke cast aluminium 120/70 R19 front wheel and 150/70 R18 rear wheel mated to a new set of suspensions at both rear and front. The front fork is set at a 28.9° rake, 27.4° fork angle. Harley claims that these new wheels are lightweight and along with the revised suspension, the ground clearance will be better. The seat remains at same 785mm saddle height.
The Roadster is equipped with dual 300mm floating discs up front, gripped by ABS-enabled twin-piston calipers, and a 260mm rear disc with twin-piston caliper. Elements that give the Roadster its unique look include the blacked-out engine with gray air cleaner, Shorty dual exhaust with chrome mufflers, slammed drag-style handlebar and gauges, blacked-out headlamp, 12.5-litre Sportster fuel tank, bobbed rear fender, and side-mount license plate.
The Roadster is the latest edition in Harley’s Dark Custom lineup. The bike will be available in four different colors: Vivid Black with a charcoal denim pinstripe, Black Denim with a red pinstripe, Velocity Red Sunglo with a red pinstripe and two-tone Billet Silver/Vivid Black with a burgundy pinstripe.
