Kenan Sofuoglo, the four time world champion Supersport will attempt 400kmph speed record on Kawasaki Ninja H2R. The Turkish racer has already took the H2R to an unsettling 391km/h during a test run.
Kenan’s world record attempt will be made on 30th of June 2016 in his native place on Ozman Gazi Bridge in Turkey, the 4th longest suspension bridge in the world during the inaugural function of the bridge in presence of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. His record attempt will add overall importance to the event.
During his last test run on Tuesday Kenan Sofuoglu said,
“I just need to sort out everything with the engine, tyres and fuel. Almost everything is ready. We have just a few days to go. I have finished all of my personal preparations. It will depend on the wind speed, but I expect to reach 400 kilometre per hour. I will be spending the next three days at the bridge to see what the wind is like at different points of the day. Hopefully we will be able to have all of the right conditions when it matters on Thursday.”
He also mentioned that,
Hitting 400 km/h will need to be done in less than 30 seconds in order to lower the risk of a tyre blowout.
The WSS race winner will use a special race suit that will reduce the drag while providing uncompromised protection during the record attempt. Pirelli has given specially-formulated compound for the tires that will be used during the run. Elf is providing race-grade fuel that should help the H2R engine produce more power and a higher top speed.
