MCN has reported having spotted what looks like KTM’s next adventure motorcycle. It will be in the middle-weight category and shall take on the likes of Honda Africa Twin and Triumph Tiger 800.
The motorcycle has been spotted in Austria near KTM’s factory in Mattighofen. What’s clear from the pictures is the compact size of the motorcycle compared to proper, big adventure motorcycles. Also, it will be powered by the all-new 800cc parallel twin engine which was recently seen testing on KTM’s upcoming Duke 800 (which shall be revealed by the end of this year).
This class of adventure motorcycles is becoming a hotly competitive field. These motorcycles strike a great balance between power and the size of the motorcycle – they pack a good punch, have extremely capable chassis and suspension parts and are not as bulky as the bigger adventure motorcycles.
Other than the 800cc parallel twin engine, this new KTM will naturally feature all-new chassis and suspension components. Given that the spied motorcycle was literally without any bodywork, we believe it is still quite away from being revealed. MCN reports that it is likely this will be released in 2017 as the 2018 model, just like the new Duke 800 will be released this year as the 2017 model.
