After previously covering Eurogrip’s Tread Talks series, we were excited to join them once again, this time for their 9th edition. What makes Tread Talks special is that it’s not just another tyre workshop; it’s an immersive experience that blends learning, hands-on testing, and real-world riding through diverse terrains. This time, it took the shape of an unforgettable road trip from Madurai to Kodaikanal.

From Delhi to Madurai: A Journey Begins

Our journey kicked off with a flight from Delhi to Madurai, where the Tread Talks began in earnest. Upon arrival, we headed straight to the Eurogrip Srichakra factory, home to Eurogrip Tyres. The day started with a conference where we deep-dived into the science of tyre manufacturing and tread design. It was fascinating to see how much research and technology go into something that most of us take for granted.Following the conference, we toured the manufacturing unit and R&D centre, getting an up-close look at the innovation behind Eurogrip tyres. During our discussions with the team, we discovered five exciting updates:

5 Key updates from Eurogrip:
- Global Expansion: Eurogrip is the first Indian two-wheeler tyre brand to enter the USA market, with distribution in Miami, Florida, and Georgia.
- OEM Partnerships: The brand’s partnerships with global OEMs have expanded, starting with Aprilia’s RS 457 and Tuono 457, and now moving to BMW’s G310R.
- European OE Supplier: Eurogrip is now the first Indian tyre company to supply OE tyres to Europe, including brands like Piaggio and Askoll.
- Supersport Tyre Prototype: We were given an exclusive look at Eurogrip’s prototype Supersport tyre, hinting at high-performance ambitions.
- 190-Section Tyre: Eurogrip has become the first Indian manufacturer to produce a 190-section tyre, which we had the honour of using on our Kawasaki ZX-10R during an All-India road trip called #roadtripUnited2025
The Ride Begins: Madurai to Kodaikanal (120 km)
After a morning full of insights, we flagged off from the Eurogrip Srichakra factory and began our 120 km ride to Kodaikanal. I started my journey on a Yamaha R15, fitted with Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres 110/70-17 at the front and 140/60 R17 at the rear.

These tyres performed impressively, especially on dry roads. With zero-degree steel belts and an advanced rubber compound, the stability and grip at high speeds on the highway were top-notch. I felt confident cornering, braking, and maintaining speed, essential for any enjoyable ride.

Our group, consisting of 15+ auto journalists, stopped mid-way for a hearty traditional lunch. Before heading into the Kodaikanal range, we also registered our vehicle details online for a hassle-free entry, something all travellers should keep in mind.

Twisties, Mountains & Tyre Confidence
As we climbed towards Kodaikanal, the weather turned cool and refreshing. The twisty mountain roads were a motorcyclist’s dream. The R15, paired with Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres, handled beautifully even through sharp corners. It truly brought out the joy of riding and reminded me how much tyre quality can impact your overall riding experience.

We passed cascading waterfalls, misty cliffs, and stunning valleys. Once we reached the Kodaikanal lake, the atmosphere felt surreal. Sitting by the lake with my motorcycle and soaking in the view was a moment to cherish.

We later checked into the Sterling Resort, where we had a great evening discussing bikes, tyres, and experiences with fellow riders over dinner.
Day 2: Rainy Rides and Eurogrip Tyres
The next morning, we swapped bikes to test different tyre setups. I opted for the TVS Ronin, fitted with Eurogrip Beamer HS+ (110/70-17) at the front and Protorq Extreme (130/70-17) at the rear.

Just as we set off, the skies opened up, and it began raining steadily. For someone who loves riding in the rain, this was a blessing. The roads were wet, winding, and challenging, perfect for testing wet grip performance.

To my delight, these tyres performed exceptionally well. With their H-shaped tread pattern and flexible polymer compound, the tyres provided excellent grip, stability, and control on wet surfaces. Even while cornering or braking, the tyres felt planted and confidence-inspiring. These qualities make them ideal for urban riding, twisty hill roads, and long-distance touring alike.

Back to Madurai & Final Thoughts
On our return ride from Kodaikanal to Madurai (another 120 km), I took in the landscapes one last time, spotting horses on the road, taking photos, and truly living the moment.

Back at Eurogrip Srichakra, we shared our feedback with the Eurogrip team, who were all ears. Soon after, we took lunch at the factory premises, and it was time to pack up and head back to the airport.

Conclusion: More Than Just Tyres
The 9th Eurogrip Tread Talks was not just a tyre workshop; it was a full-blown experiential learning journey. From learning about tyre engineering and testing new treads on real roads to sharing stories with fellow riders, it was a wholesome and memorable trip.

We wish Eurogrip all the best for their future innovations and hope they continue organising such meaningful events that blend education, adventure, and real-world testing. After all, the best way to understand a tyre is not just in a lab, but out on the open road.
