Attending the world’s largest motorcycle rally was certainly fun. But I would like to take this moment to highlight a nifty companion that I had with me throughout this journey. An innovative made-in-India product called the Tech Pack Pro Air Bag from Neo Kavach. Needless to say, it is a whole lot more than a cool-looking backpack.

First off, the backpack has an integrated CE Level 2 back protector. Most impressively though, it is the first made-in-India integrated airbag system! The airbag system is a part of the vest, and it can deploy in less than 100 milliseconds… less than the blink of an eye. Also, NeoKavach Airbag Systems are CE certified by ALIENOR CERTIFICATION (N°2754), an esteemed French specialist in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) testing.

How it works is that you simply wear your bag, attach the lanyard to your motorcycle, and that is it! In case you are worried about false activations, as the pull force required for activation is higher than one can exert by mistake. So, you will be alright even if you walk off from your motorcycle and forget to detach the lanyard.

Another impressive bit is that this system is devoid of any electronics. That means no batteries and no failing parts. The cartridge with the airbag costs INR 2,000, and they can be changed as many times as you like. This greatly enhances the convenience and reusability of the product. The vest protects all your vitals, such as the thorax, abdomen, back, and hips. That is a whole lot of coverage, plus remember that you will be wearing your riding gear as well.

Another thing I like is the modularity and the extra functions the backpack serves. The base can be detached from the bag and replaced with new designs as and when Neo Kavach releases them. The bag also has a rain cover and a 3-litre hydration bladder included. Moreover, the airbag vest is detachable. So if you are on a short ride or in a city commute, you can ditch the backpack and still have the airbag protection!

Before heading out to Sturgis, we tested the Neo Kavach Teck Pack Pro thoroughly at the MotoVilla. We tested the deployment speed, which was near instant. We also checked to ensure that there were measures in place to avoid false activations in case you walk off from the motorcycle without detaching the lanyard. Since the pull force required for deployment is much higher, chances of false activations are near zero.
Throughout my time with it, the Neo Kavach Tech Pack Pro proved its worth in spades. The backpack is quite spacious. It is waterproof but has a rain cover for heavier showers. I am also impressed with the quality of the backpack. The zippers are high quality, and the design looks pretty cool, too. And the hydration bladder was a godsend since Sturgis can be really hot during the day. And it has a built-in helmet holder, so no fiddling with your crown once you are off your motorcycle!

The Neo Kavach Tech Pack Pro costs INR 34,000, and here’s a list of what you get with it; Waterproof zippers, dedicated laptop sleeves, dust cover, built-in waterproof cover, built-in helmet holder, hydration bladder, CE level 2 back protector, 360-degree reflectors, quick access water-resistant pocket, water-resistant shell, 3D mesh ventilation, foldable hanger and vest cover included, medical ID sticker, and 1 Year complimentary insurance.

While I’d say that your money’s worth is more than paid for by the protection on offer, the extra features sweeten the deal even more. Know more about the Teck Pack Pro and other offerings from Neo Kavach and www.neokavach.com
