It is no secret that Royal Enfield has been working on a 650cc cruiser. At EICMA 2021, the brand has revealed a concept 650cc cruiser christened as the SG650.
As apparent from the photos, the motorcycle has been designed from the ground up. Despite a modern vibe, Royal Enfield has done a great job in retaining the classic Royal Enfield aesthetic. From the polished aluminium front end to the digital graphic on the tank, the concept motorcycle feels like a perfect blend of classic and modern.
The SG650 concept also features some neat features that are a first for the brand. The tank has been machined from a solid block of aluminium, the wheel rims have ABS integrated, the brake callipers are bespoke, there are two discs at the front, the USD forks that rise up to low and extra-wide bars. The concept features a single step-up seat and a short fender at the back that features the tail light.
The Royal Enfield is built around the same 650cc engine that does duty on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 that produces 47 bhp of power and 52 Nm of torque. The stubby exhaust that flows from the engine also gels well with the overall aesthetic of the motorcycle. While the Royal Enfield SG650 is a concept, the fact that Royal Enfield has been working on a 650cc cruiser may point to the concept serving as an inspiration for the production model.
