But I will say what I say to everybody. In 15k you will get a much better second hand bike. Try that option as well. Depends also which part of the country you are and the bike's availability.

Also at your height, you are going to have a hard time getting your size, dealers will try to sell you whatever size they have in stock. Be scared of the dealers!!
    Hi Monk,

Can you suggest me some bicycle in this range? I live in Delhi. Since this is my first purchase I am looking for a new one.

    Thanks

Well if you want to buy a new bike, then you can visit a few shops in Ghitorni. See what you like among them. Road, hybrid or MTB. After having checked out the bikes in person, you will be in a better position to make a choice.

      Cheers
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

        Hi Monk,

Thanks for your reply. Can you suggest me some names that would be suitable for my height. Actually I do not want to look dumb in front of dealers and they make fool out of me.

In that price range you can check out montra from TI cycles.
Mostly the price depends on the features you are opting for.
Please let us know what all features you are looking on a cycle like, suspension, disc brakes etc.
I suggest you bike an expensive bike only if you are really interested in cycling. At the same time buy something that make you want to ride it again. I mean, after riding some cycle you will lose the fun of riding. So please keep that in mind too.

Thanks for your reply. Can you suggest few names if I somehow manage my budget. I am looking for a stylish cycle to ride for Fitness purposes as well as to enjoy cycling. Its ok for me if it does not have features that are not used regularly.

Although I want to buy a bicycle myself but due to family (read as wife) pressure, can't. But I can suggest you to go to the Cycle Market in Jhandewalan and get in touch with Roger bhai, our own cycle wallah to get a good help.

If you happen to buy from him/ that market then you owe me a ride on that, capiche?

Ok then, I myself has test rode a Bianchi road bike and it was really good. I didn't buy it as I didn't want a roadbike. So if you are planning to use only on roads. You can try that. Price comes around 20k INR.
Again I am telling you the same, buy expensive ones only if you are really interested or else you will waste money unnecessarily.

For your height you will need a 21" or XL size bike. But you can be sure only if you test ride one. Also the brand doesn't really matter as long as you buy a brand. As rx100 said, try Jhandelwalan cycle market, I think the name of the shop is Mehta Cycles. PM Roger for more details!

Thanks for your reply. I am going to buy one soon. Can you suggest me some good place in Delhi (other than Jhandelwalan) where I can get great prices and I do not want to be fooled by dealers. I ll go by your word. Or i should go to Jhandelwalan only?

I would suggest, go to Jhandelwalan, go to Ghitorni. Go to many shops and only then select a bike. It is better to buy a bike a week late, than get a bad deal and wish you hadn't

Read decent reviews of it on the net. But have no idea personally.

I am in a bit of dilemma, I am getting a two year old (kept at home, only ridden twice for about 5Kms in total), almost unused cannondale F7 for about 20K, medium frame, stock tyres.
Other options are, a used Cannondale Trail 6 (used for about 2K Kms) provided with an extra set of hybrid tyres….for 22K
I am thinking that if I am going to spend about 20-22K on a bicycle, should I be looking at buying new bicycles, esp. since I am getting only hard-trail type of bicycles in used condition and I am going to ride on city roads and highways. Will it make more sense to go for a Bianchi hybrid for around the same price range (20K-22K)?
Or is it a fact that Cannondale quality/geometry will be much better compared to Bianchi?
Another thought says that the value of used bikes will not depreciate much so if I land a used cannondale at 20K, I must be able to sell it with not more than 2K in loss and I will be in a better position then, and will understand my wants from a bicycle quite clearly, then I should sell off the used cannondale and buy a new bike.
I stay in Mumbai, am 5ft 10in and weigh 74Kgs
                              Please counsel brother,
Ah. Finally a smart guy who is willing to buy a second hand I likeeee. You would have gotten my attention by just posting in the bicycles section

First thing do you want a Hybrid or a MTB. From your post, you seem to already have done a bit of groundwork, so you would know the difference between the two and pros/cons of them.

Secondly, a used bike is good, if you can inspect it in person. Make sure all the components are either original or upgraded and not crashed an inferior components added on.

I cannot comment on geometry. You have to get on to the bikes individually and decide for yourself, what suits you better.

Quality is more or less equal in all these bikes.

Another thing you can do is to rent/ borrow a hybrid/ mtb and see which suits you better. Maybe even a road bike!

My advice, get a hybrid, look for used bikes, buy one which does not appear to have any damages. If not, then go for a new bike. Make sure you get the right frame size for yourself. Lastly buy a helmet and start riding and loose those extra kilos

Hey bro, just to let you know, there are comparatively very few people who own good bikes like cannondale, trek etc… and these bicycles are usually not sold by their owners that easily….all these things factored-in, it is very very difficult to find the right bike (right style, right size @ right price range).
I have been following Quikr/OLX bicycles section, and all this while (over a month), I have seen hardly any one selling a Hybrid, those few of them who have posted there are selling a MTB like 99% of times.
That is why was thinking of compromising at start and later when I realize my need, directly going for a new one.
