      • Got to ride the bike yesterday thanks to a friend.....

        Pros:

The seating is amazing, city riding at its best.
Suspension is world class... no words to explain the feel.
Headlights are amazing (I am saying this after using my P220 lights).
Brakes (specially the front disc) is out of this world.... again am speechless.
Low end grunt/punch is again amazing.... it has power.
        The tyres have amazing grip.
The bike just wants to have a stoppie when the front disc is touched.
Bike is very comfortable, though the handle bar too wide.
Did a 10k rpm on second gear.... just no stress on engine.
Overall the bike is a wow wow.... the best bike India has ever seen.

        Cons:

The main stand/silencer beneath the engine tends to touch at some sad speed breakers.

The bike is a winner.... kudos to Yamaha for giving us such a fine piece of machinery.
I did a back to back ride on my 220 with the FZ16.... and trust me... quality levels of bajaj are no where near .

Tubeless tyres still need air. Air is trapped between tyre and rim instead of tube.

Choke or No Choke. Even when riding, on the lower gears, if don't give any acceleration, the engine stops !!

Any one else facing this problem?? Somehow I feel, it is to do with the fuel not reaching the engine.
Well, This seems fixed now!! I checked the Idling Knob, seemed somebody had loosened it up. But was not sure!! Tightened it a little bit, and checked the rpm on start. It was less than of what I remembered it to be. (when it was working fine) it was. Tightened it to the value as per the manual !!
And it ran smooth as it was gliding on butter (although bangalore's road are in no way butter !!)

Yep, thats what I meant. But not every speed braker. It was a correlation between the speed and the weight of the pillion. Solo, it is never a problem.

              Cheers !!

                Hi Leadbp,

ya i am also facing the same problem..i.e.Even when riding, on the lower gears, if don't give any acceleration, the engine stops !!

can you please let me know how to fix the problem as i don't get my manual yet.. panache showroom guy told me they will give it by weekend.

btw where can we find the idling knob..?

                • Well,

The Idling Knob is on the left hand side. Some where near/below the tank. If you roll the accelerator you will find the cable moving up. (its easy to make out, the Manual diagram was not clear to me).

Below that there is a nut. If you tighten the nut, it actually pulls the lever up and thereby accelerates the engine

So you don't have to do anything else, but tighten the knob. So that there is some idling. (A very simple mechanism)

The idling in the manual is I think 1300 rpm. That's what I have kept now. (well approximately)

                  BTW:

Does anyone know how to reset the trip meter. I drew a blank on that part!!

                    i. Press the trip button => Trip comes on display
ii. Press and Hold the trip button for 5 seconds => Trip resets to zero

hey guys even i felt the problem at speed brakers...i think its the centre stand touching the ground...or is it some other part of d bike?

                        Comment

                        • Hope it is the center stand and *NOT* the silencer.

But I don't think it is a problem with the bike. I feel some of the speed brakers are intentionally done so high that they will touch the belly of the vehicle . In some places, even a bull feels the caress !!

Small engine, lack of FI and a very ordinary exhaust note too, but I'll be using the FZ16 for short runs like getting things like vegetables/ groceries/ etc. ... Basically, a moped for home shopping

Also, you're right, a 250cc with this kind of styling would be perfect for our Indian roads.
I don't race, I don't perform stunts, I don't cut across lanes and/ or cut other vehicles, I love to wear my helmet and follow traffic rules/ laws and I prefer safety over surprise... If that is boring and/ or sissy as per you, so be it.
