I also had a Kinetic&don't think it is capable of doing 90 even on the speedo!

@sayhi2sai: Lucky the Commissioner was helpful. In my experience, cops upto SI level take bribes.

      • i too faced same incident like sai.complained it on fb page.got immediate rseponse from higher official.but later backed out of the case due to some personal reasons.but still back in my mind i cannot forget the harrasment.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

        • when I had first come into blr with GJ registered LML vespa not so "smart "
I used to have a budget of 600/month to pay the cops .
once recently when I got pulled over on my fiero for not having my insurance papers. I promptly put on the main stand , called my driver on his mobile to enquire about my son at preschool and told the cop that docs are in the car my driver will be getting it in half an hour
and chilled out, they let me go in ten minutes.

          • Only once. At Dharavi junction where the right takes us to Kalanagar/Bandra.
There was a huge truck in front of me. So could just make out that the signal is green but didn't realise that it was flickering.
The pussy of a police, didn't catch the truck who sped away but instead was satisfied catching me, who went and stopped near him when he signaled.
He thought he could get some "chai-paani" here but unfortunately i insisted he gives me a proper challan and i don't mind going to Traffic dept to pay the fine and collect my license.

I hope you that most of the challan books are fake... And that money is pocketed too... Although I too insist on being challaned instead of paying them a bribe...

                • I was caught by the Bangalore cops chalanned for two reasons,
was caught by an interceptor on the kanakpura main road from nowhere a cop jumps into the middle of the road waving a stick, I was doing 70k+ braked right in front of him.

Reason1: Overspeeding was doing 70+ on a fairly empty strech.
                  Reason 2: Reckless Driving

The second one is funny when I asked him why I was slapped with reckless driving he tells me I was overtaking from the right side"

Well!! I was speechless! 600 bucks down the drain!!

                  • Last weekend I was going to Pondicherry from Mysore through an unusual route. Near Erode, there was a checkpost with zig zag barricades and police behind the barricade. It was around 8pm and I could notice the police or the checkpost and also neither the barricade until I came a few meters near them. The cop stopped me and started yelling in Tamil about overspeeding, using high beam pass to stop other cars. Saw my papers and after some movements here and there, let me go. Then by 10pm came Trichy. Stopped by the 1st checkpost. The police saw my documents and told that my insurance has expired when I had 10 more days to expire. After seeing the DL of one state and vehicle of another, he asked his subordinates "what shall be done with this vehicle". The group circled my bike for 2 rounds and then one came up "Sir, number plate". "Yes, there shall be a fine of 500". I asked why and he told its not the company no. plate, reffering to the font. Surprisingly, he told the fonts should be 70 centimeters tall and I had used a digital font in both front and rear of prescribed height. I told I have rode TN many times and also covered the whole of South India by my bike, but he was reluctant. Then he himself came up- "If no fine, pay 100".
An unfamiliar location at an odd time; 100 gone down in drain.
This is the first time anyone 'fined' me for the number plate. Among the whole of South India, I always find TN as an odd place to visit with an other state vehicle. Police always targets those vehicle and don't even care to stop TN plates. They act as if they have any revenge to take from other states.

                    • Not even once

Almost all of the cops of our locality in Amritsar know me, so nobody ever even asked me to stop.

However, as i moved to Chandigarh, once i got caught n had to pay rs 200 as bribe (there were 2 cops n each demanded his share ) n second time in Sector 17 n a friend had his uncle in High Court n he called and i sped away without chalan.

However, once we had to pay rs 1000 for over speeding (driving at 65 kmph where limit was 60 kmph) on chd - shimla highway in a friend's skoda.

                      • 2times till now. Once for not having the front number plate(Rs.100), it was stickered on the front fender. And the second time at Coorg for having a learner's licence only(I thought it was valid throughout India) for Rs.300. Both times with challan.

                          • Once in my life

Got a 135 rupees fine for riding the wrong direction. This actualy happened the last day when I was enroute to sell my Unicorn. I remember the date and time very well as that was the day I purchased by TBTS.

I did not know about the E-Challan until after few months of selling my Unicorn. I was fooling around on the Andra Pradesh E-challan site, punching all the number plates parked near my house to see if they had a fine or not. So I Keyed in my old Unicorn number plate and found the 135 Rs fine on my Old Unicorn. Looking at the Date and Time I knew it was me and as it was my fault, I paid the fine online.

                            • Twice in the span of 14 years, first time on MG Road, Pune where the lights went off from orange to red & I manage to brake on the zebra line & the cop asked me to pay Rs.100/-and that too in Pune city I was wondering since when did cops become so strict actually I would have gone free but another guy who was caught with me started arguing with the cop for an hour so I was stuck with him, the cop later told me had he not eaten my brains I would have let your go free, lesson learn't don't interfere when someone other is arguing with cops and second time I was looking for parking at Swargate Bus Stand as we newly married couple were going out of station & I did not see no U turn sign but that was my mistake agreed with the cops.

                              • Never happened till now... hae been stopped for checking but never fined... Oh they did stop me few weeks ago at night saying my bike is making a lot of noise but I said that my bike is stock and has no changes and it was only a week old then.. convinced them and they let me go
Biking is about you and the bike and the highway and the freedom you get when all three work together. Its not about Bullying others on the road and behaving like its your Dads property.. So drive safe and be nice to your fellow bikers no matter what their ride is.
