  • @Rahul Rods Tewathia:

Neither xBhp nor xBhp members support or appreciate your kind of 'ruff' riding/driving attitude.

You do all kind of illegal stuff and have balls to post it on xBhp. You have been infracted once before for such kind of post. This is last and final warning, xBhp is not a forum which would tolerate this nonsense.

If you want to stay here, you will have to show more maturity.

      • @Bike Lover: Kudos to sticking to your guns.
@Rahul Rods Tewathia: Hopefully you will learn and grow up. Many of us have done some stupid things. But with the help of a forum like this, we have all grown up and become sane drivers.

        My share:

Sometime in 2007. My pillion wasn't wearing a helmet. Circumstances were such that we couldn't get it and frankly i wasn't really paranoid about it at that time. Got challaned. Paid the fine. Appreciated the promptness.

        • i have been challaned only once...
although in a day i get stopped by cops minimum 5 times.......

was challaned because i wasn't carrying my DL along and the cop was in a mood to make some money......although my friend got my license from my home to show it to the cop he showed me the rule book that stated that whenever you are riding or driving u should always have your license on you.....
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

          • I got challaned once, while driving a car, for doing 50kmph on a 30kmph National Highway!! The cops just put speed signs to make money, nothing else. Why can't they spend the same amount of time stopping vehicles from getting robbed or finding stolen vehicles. Plods are corrupt and I can never respect any of those fools.

How does anyone ever get stopped by the cops on a bike is something I will never understand If you see a cop just hide your bike behind a bigger vehicle until you pass the plod If he can't see you he can't stop you!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

                • I got challaned once for breaking a signal at about 6:30 in the morning!! That too not any signal, it was a signal meant only for people to cross. Almost ran over the cop that stopped me because he suddenly jumped out of the tree that he was hiding behind. Got away by paying a fine of 100rs.

                  • Got fined 100rs for overspeeding in city limits(35Kmph), on my un-serviced decade old Kinetic Zoom, the police speed gun showed us doing 90Kmph+, thought the speedo was below 75Kmph if I remember correctly.

                        • Thank you XBHP!

Never, in my 8 years of riding. (No challans/bribes/warnings)

Though I get stopped for paper checking and stuff every now and then.
I ensure I carry my DL, Insurance papers, NOC (Jharkhand registered bike in Chennai), PUC, helmet and riding gear with me always.

I was never a rash rider. But xbhp taught me about riding gear(s). Now I ensure that even my pillion wears a helmet and safety gear (a jean jacket, elbow guards and knee guards at least.) Although he cries a lot for me forcing him to wear all that, but recently a cop praised us for the same on the busy IT expressway enroute office.

Wear proper gear always and ride safe. Also, keep all papers with you.
                          Happy riding....
                          Cheers!!!
                          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

                          • I was Challaned Rs. 200/- for triple riding. It is a long story... Still want to listen in brief... Here it is:

My brother's daughter (18 yrs), who had never been to Hills, coaxed me to take her to Shimla on my bike (caliber 115 cc - 2003 model). On hearing this, my own daughter (17 yrs), insisted to be taken to Shimla as well. Because of sheer love for my children, I agreed to take both of them to Shimla on some weekend to Shimla. The drive was uneventful but on reaching Shimla, due to some accident there were lot of traffic policemen. They spotted me and challaned me.

The return was uneventful and we returned next day without venturing around Shimla triple-riding !!! Although the two cuties enjoyed their stay at Shimla to the fullest ever, in their life.

I discourage everybody not to do triple riding. This was once in a lifetime act, although a stupid one, to some extent.

                              • Long post! (you have been warned).

This happened a week ago. Driving down the express IT highway OMR in chennai, was signalled to pull over by a cop, I checked my odo, it read 46kmph exactly. I pulled over turning on the left signal. He told me i was speeding, i politely replied i was doing 45 only. He entered something into a handheld device and asked me to sign on it, I asked him, is that a speed gun sir? He replied with, "are you talking rules? you **** (better not typed in a public forum)." I said "sir but you cannot charge me for speeding without a gun." he quickly changed the offense to changing lanes dangerously (which btw i never do, even on highways). He said fine is 1050, minimum of 400, openly asking for a bribe. As a matter of principle but not scarcity of funds, I refused to pay up or acknowledge the offense, then began the endless barrage of insults, that i presume involved my parents, my grandparents, everyone in my family and my extended family (mostly females). Although I donot stand for such inconsiderate foul language, I was forced to, as it is a new bike and all my life's savings have gone into it and he already had my keys. He came close to hitting me atleast half a dozen times, in the middle of public road. The only thing i had to do was pay up 300 and leave for obviously no reason, which he himself agrees. I guess the eunuchs are little more considerate in this department. He kept asking me to sign, I was always addressing him with a suffix "sir" which admittedly was killing me inside to address this imbecile as. He refused to tell me my offense or the amount, the only response were synonyms to moms private parts. After half an hour of this endless barrage of abuses. He decided to drive my bike away,(which i suppose he cannot, shouldn't there be a tow truck?) He plonked it into the first gear in full force, and almost pulled off a wheelie. Drove another 500 metres and stopped . I walked until there, and realizing there was nothing left to do, as I had already contacted the Commissioner of Police, Mr.Tripathy and he couldnot resolve it. I had to go against everything I believed in and everything I was taught from childhood that, you only get punished if you do something wrong, I paid up. Yes, shamefully, i admit that I paid a bribe of 300 rupees. He tries to justify his situation saying that he has responsibilities too, and that he has 4 brothers whom he has to feed, and that I should be understanding towards it, after being abused for an hour and treated much worse than Ajmal Kasab for all i can guess. This model policeman happens to be Mr. A. Challadurai. The icing on the cake is that, I was charged for speeding, without a speed gun. Challan No. C2221209446. I am perplexed as to how everyone on the road was suggesting me to pay up, and let the headache go. Is there absolutely no way you can fight for your rights, and not lose a whole lot, if not everything in the process? Is this the kind of system we are slaves to where, even the Commissioner of Police himself can be no better than a silent spectator? I understand that the police officer is the enforcer of law here and he can dish out whatever random offense he deems fit, and I understand that you will obviously claim it is just a handful of officers who will misuse the law like it happened today, and further justify it saying, "The law is supposed to serve the masses" but whatever happened to the saying, "Let a thousand criminals walk free, but don't punish an innocent man?".

I composed this message as soon as I returned to my office and marked copies to Hindu,TOI,Deccan Chronicle, The Commissioners Office, The Chennai City Traffic Police FB page, Chennai Police website. Towards the evening, I got a call from the Additional commissioner of police, informing me that a departmental inquiry had been launched on the said cop. He requested me, that if the need arises, I might have to come down to the meeting. I affirmed that under no circumstances, I would want to miss it, Infact I would want to be present for the entirety of the proceedings. He was very respectful and cordial, and appreciated me for the way I approached the situation. Half an hour post this conversation, the Additional Commisioner calls me back and asks me if he could give my phone number to the cop at fault. It was never my intention to demean the cop or get his suspended. I just didn't want him to treat anyone else on the road the same way, and I had to send a point home that the common man can still do something. So I told the addl. commisioner that he can divulge my mobile number. I get a call from the cop 5 minutes later, he is all apologetic on the phone, citing reasons such as work tension and being posted on a governor's route. I asked him what of my 300? He was at this point around 10 kilometres from my office, he said that he would send a constable to return my money. I told him, not going to happen, you are going to come here personally in 15 minutes, apologize to me in person and return my money and then we will talk about cancelling the departmental inquiry. He arrived at my office promptly in 15 minutes,(must have broken a few traffic rules in the process). He apologized many a times, and returned my 300 rupees.I talked to him for 15 minutes trying to explain why he didn't have to treat me the way he did. Just as I was about to leave, he says "Sir, call me if you need anything sir, Anything at all sir". I politely replied, "You are one of the persons I have the least respect for, I will never ever call you". He goes, "Sir , leave it sir, friends sir".

The next day, I had half an hour chat with the Additional Commissioner, where he informed me that the entire credit goes to the Commissioner of Police for Chennai, Mr. Tripathy, who got personally involved and ordered him to resolve the matter. I decided to drop the case, and hence asked him to cancel the departmental inquiry. Needless to say, my immense respect and gratitude goes to Mr. Tripathy, the commissioner of police.
