This really works, even i do it at times so can say by experience first hand.

Same thing when someone tries to race with you. You just ride at a leisurely speed and the moron gets demotivated automatically.

I also make a point not to offend such morons by overtaking them. This happens when i nonchalantly zoom past such motorcyclists and they take it as a challenge and try to go ahead of me aggressively. Just then i drop my gurads and do not try to provoke them further. Their win turns sour and short lived.

This is a common practice when i am out with wife.

^^Agreed, every single time I hit the street on my D200 guys on Pulsars and Apaches and other 150+cc bikes starts a race..! I so don't understand their point.. looking at a higher cc bike simply provokes them and I quietly let them go ( zoom )past me by slowing down. Sometimes when cruising at 45-50 in a relaxed manner these same guys try to taunt me, but I never bother to it and which eventually cools them down too sometimes.

These days getting fully geared up (thanks to our Bangalore (reckless) riders, as I started riding a little longer than I usually do 13kms

It's the same for me. A normal guy riding sanely turns full retard and starts riding in zig zag motion next to me and then they zoom past me. Since I just ignore them, often these people wait for me to come ahead and then they start all over again.:what: Once while coming back from college I got caught up between this ns guy and an innova. Now these two people were friends and seeing me geared up started racing and cutting through traffic.
They made it tough to cross them or stay back. Ultimately I had to stop for a while and wait for em to pass.

I do agree with the sentiments of letting a moron go past if he honks/intends to race. But I and SuvraGanguly had a tough time negotiating a Toyota Etios being driven by an uncle in his late 40s while returning from Mysore recently.

It was Sunday evening and hence, a lot of vehicular movement on the MYS-BLR highway. This car was in the right most lane doing 70 odd clicks. When we approached him, we flashed our lights to overtake him, but he wouldn't let us do. In fact, he'd come left if we tried overtaking from the wrong side as well. This continued for about 3-4 kms and since there was no shoulder or lay bye at the side of the highway with other motorists behind at high speed, we couldn't stop.

Suvra in fact had an ugly altercation with the uncle and some harsh words and he managed overtaking him but then the uncle started doing the same when it was my turn. I could see my group zooming ahead into the horizon while tailgating the Etios. I'd to finally do an evasive wild maneuver to overtake him from the right side. Wonder why people in cages behave like morons at times upon seeing 2 wheelers. Leaves a bad taste!

Guys Mumbai is a city which makes me feel amazing specially after coming from traffics of Delhi,Kolkata and Bangalore, probably the worst I have ever seen and experienced. In Mumbai I have usually seen people are going calm and never experienced any body using foul mouth. But definitely there are certain moments that really s...s Last monsoon on the very first day, it was evening and I was in a little hurry riding cautiously at around 45kmph. I was about to negotiate a turn in a signal. In front me was a SUV who was looking to make the same turn, but then all of a sudden he breaked just when he was about to turn. I was about 50m away from him at that point and the result was I breaked my best to shed the speed ended up in a nice slide damaging my new formal.
People can change lane any time they can come to your riding space anytime without informing you. Auto's are another night mare be it in the broad day light or at the mid of night. One morning I was bit late to my office and was coming down the main road I saw an auto coming out from an left ally at a distance of say 30meter and he was about to cross the road. He saw me I honked him as I was coming down the slope at around 45-50kmph, it was drizzling also so not in a position to break and stop and let him go. So made up my mind and tried to slow down as much as I can. The auto didn't bother to stop or respond to my honk instead he came to the middle of the road just in my riding space and to add to the horror he breaked. Man such an idiot I breaked hard trying to avoid any collision but resulted in a nice slide and crashed. Behind me was a Tata 407, when I tried to come up I noticed the tire of that truck merely few inches from me. Phewww SAVED. I have seen people making different kind of fuss big of them are AUTOWALAS. You can see an auto standing still but just when you are about to cross him he will suddenly make a move to his left towards you and then he will take is head out to see if anything is there sometimes they even don't do that. Gov't Buses drivers are like they are not driving Buses but are flying JETS. AUTOWALAS are like eah to mere baap ka raasta hain. Then there are certain riders who after overtaking you will immediately come to your riding space. No signal no count of distance from the vehicle that he overtook.

Some traffic rules I follow myself in Delhi.
1. At EVERY corner, no matter you have Pirelli sports demon tyre, always maintain speeds less than 15km/hr.
2. Never overtake a dtc bus and tempo, truck etc from any side in zig zag position.
3. Run for your life when you see a Haryana Roadways bus, seriously those who knew about them, will get what I'm saying and those who don't, think.of them as flying Airbus 380 without brakes.
4. In streets, lookout for children jumping out of their homes more than road.
5. Don't stop if it's a state police, and if it's traffic police, brake immediately.

Guys I would like to share another experience of mine. Few months back me and my colleague went for his wedding shopping to Kalwa Devi market in South Mumbai. That was a hot Saturday afternoon. We went straight form office. After the completion of shopping it was almost 4.30pm, we were tired because of scorching heat and ate nothing since morning. Mohammad Ali Road is near to the market where we went for his shopping. So on our way to back home we decided to come by that road and we will have a good snacks there, as it is a famous place for delicious non veg foods. Finally we entered into Md Ali Road. We were welcomed with a huge traffic jam. In front of me was a taxi some how stalled in the middle. All the two wheelers were passing by it's left since the right was blocked completely , so do I followed them. As I just crossed half of the taxi with a sudden jerk the bike came into halt and I couldn't move. The passenger seating in the front all of a sudden opened the door. And the door hit the back of my bike , right back cowl was damaged and the cover over my exhaust got a dent. The door was struck so hard that the bike came to dead stop from 15kmph and was unable to move the bike as the door was struck between my seat cowl and the exhaust cover. Though I was saved my colleague was injured badly in the ring finger and right knee. He was in utter pain and was damn nervous I somehow took him down and make him seat in the footpath and went for some cold water. We somehow survived that incident, days are gone now but then onwards I have learned one thing for sure that when passing by left of any vehicle try to maintain maintain at least 1 to1.5 meter distance or honk enough to bring own self to the notice of passenger/pillion/rider/driver's notice.

I have suffered a serious injury with a double hemorrhage in scooter and thereby lost two years seating back home. It was just an accident with a cycle coming to the wrong path. So actually anything may happen when you are on road be a s a rider/driver/pillion/pedestrian. Stay calm and careful as much as you can. Even if you are geared at your best you never know what is waiting for you in coming few minutes or seconds so I believe staying calm helps you fight with awkward situations of those teasing you or giving you pain.

The road being filled with idiots is an understatement.
The typical Indian road is actually an open Zoo.

I met with an accident last july. There was an idiot trying to do stunts in his yamaha RX bike. When I crossed the road, he could not handle the bike and hit my ZMR's tail from the side.
My bike was damaged,I was hurt, and my friend has scratches over her arms.
This incident ended up being one of the worst of my life. It appears he was a local thug of that are, he started foul-mouthing and said - His bike is pure gold(in terms of the way he has maintained it), and since my "useless plastic bike" is the reason for the accident, I should pay him back.
I called up the cops and guess what !! !
The cops tells me in kannada - "Boss, if you have a superbike,it does not mean you own the road". He ended up teaching me the values of humble backgrounds and poverty !! !
It appears the cop too was involved in this somehow as he earlier had a conversation with that guy in private.
At the end of this all, with utter frustration (and words I am banned from using in xbhp forum), I ended up paying 2000/- to that guy.Funny part I had to shell out 4500/- extra fro my bike during repair. This happened around Channsandra village area near M.V.J college. Guys from Bangalore will recognize this area I guess.

I know man... its really frustrating when idiots who need to protect the law, break them themselves for personal agendas... Ridiculous... If your tail gets damaged its obvious who hit who... you can't have possibly been backing up to hit the guy. And I can vouch for my head the guy wasn't even wearing a helmet right? Such is the ludicrousness of the scenario in our motherland... I had this cop in Delhi once who was making a deal between me and the guy who rammed into me to decide who pays who eventually... its like swimming through a big bucket of phlegm this whole thing.

Guys we have AIERS and respective representatives form certain areas of India. During any awkward situations faced on road we can call up the representative. I know it's not a solution and not always possible , but I believe we are in a brotherhood here and at least we can try helping out each other. It's not like or necessary that a person will be powerful to help you fight or rich enough . But when a person stands by you it gives the person a moral confidence and boost. As I was going through the thread I was reading different encounters and experiences faced alone. May be if some one would have been there that might have helped some other way. So my point is is it possible for us to use AIERS judiciously to face the dramatic situations created by the MORONS walking / riding/ driving in/off the road.

Ha ha ha. I remember that incident too. It was funny. What surprised me though was the bulleteers reaction. He was with a female pillion and his reactions were immature. But it was total paisa wasool experience for me watching the scene.

The best solution is to have video evidence to shut the coops up for good.

No need to buy a GoPro for your daily commute. One of these el-cheapo cams should do just fine. I am myself planning to buy one and clip it on to my visor for good measure;

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
