      • Can you believe, in todays age of technology, I cannot find a mobile that I would really want. My requirement...
        1. A big flip phone, when opened, the ear and mouth piece should fit properly from my ears to my mouth.
        2. Make and receive calls with excellent voice quality with SMS.
        3. Extensive phone book where one can easily add retrieve and edit numbers/profiles.
        4. Display that is easily visible in direct sunlight (monochrome will do) and at night.
        5. Good battery life.
        6. Metal body, preferably titanium.
        7. Big solid illuminated buttons.
        8. Not forgetting excellent signal receiving capability that can be used all over the world.

I don't care much for other functions. Am I asking too much ?

One might think there may be something like that, but they are all usually small plastic phones that has pathetic voice quality.

        Edit:
        9. It should be fast both during operation and shutting off and on.

You're looking for a PHONE, sadly they don't make them anymore. However if voice quality is your number one preference there is nothing better than Nokia.

              • Fortunately or Unfortunately my E72 (just got it from US, Indian map loaded) is not connecting to the GPS even after the GPRS is connected.....

Is it that we require an active GPRS for assisted GPS phones like these...? So in case of no network, the phone would not navigate..???

However, my TAB worked like a charm, connected to the GPS without any issues and (mapmyindia) really had pretty good and accurate coverage.....

Help in whatever measure you can....
I would be driving to my hometown this weekend (800-900 KM) and would rely heavily on it (E72)

I am waiting for the S2 mini version. It seems really good. Mini is a monicker, since that is running a 1.4GHz processor with a 3.7" Super AMOLED screen.
Else if the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is coming in a low price range, it would be a great buy.
If budget does not permit, HTC Salsa will be good enough.
But in any case, I want an Android with front cam&rear atleast 5mp with auto focus+flash.
Screen size 3.5" minimum. What do you think?
Rest of the stuff like ROM, RAM, CPU speed etc.are only on paper. Real world usage is always a different story.

HTC Incredible S has really good specs. However, I am sure you are aware that HTC does not have a good value for resale.

I guess when it comes to HTC, we have to really prioratize our main reasons to get a smart phone. HTCs have very good hardware but they tend to have bugs/lag in their video player and the music quality is kinda average.

So other than telephony/sms if your main criteria is music/video then I'd say do not go for a HTC. On the other hand though, the if latest greatest hardware and mobile games is your priority, HTC rocks !!

Lastly comes the battery life. HTC is really infamous for bad battery life. I for the life of me cannot undertand how a company that creates such awesome hardware still bendles those crappy batteries. I have friends with Desire, Desire HD and Wildfire phones, and all of them constantly cry about the battery life.

Why do you need GPS to go to Bhopal? Ask me for directions (Besides its not 800-900.. its barely 750)

BTW.. I do have Sygic MapMyIndia maps for Symbian. Ping me if you need it. Ovi maps needs a data connection to compute the route (I guess).

Nexus S doesn't have 720p video recording, xvid or divx support, nor FM radio. Besides if you want the Nexus S for the Gingerbread, Even Galaxy S gets gingerbread with all those missing features available and is basically the same hardware.

As for Incredible S.. Seriously.. No S-AMOLED ! But overall very good.. Better than any Samsung on offer.. as of now..

Well, not s Super AMOLED but it does have a S-LCD.
My major requirement is - Being ONLINE 24x7, App Support, Pics and music.
Music could be sorted out by buying a good quality headset and a player app.
Now, I am pretty confused between the Nexus S and Incredible S.
Nexus S does have a 720p recording. Both of them has HD recording and pics at 30fps.

I dont find any reason for the GS2 mini to have hardware build higher than the GS2. AFter all GS2 is going to be the Flaghip phone though we could see several iterations like as we witnessed with the galaxy s hardware with different outer shells and add ons. Hope there are some interations with Brushed steel panels for rugged use without having to worry about screen giving in under stress when kept in pant pocket.

GSM arena shows only 720P vid and 30fps. Probably it would appeal people who dont need a 4.3 screen. Movies, nagivation and games will be better in a bigger screen. My only game for now is to wait. Am not gonna settle down for anything less than super amoled
