Xiaomi's Jain Says Mi 3 Not 'Discontinued'; Won't Confirm When Sales Will Resume | NDTV Gadgets

        ===============

Guys, recently I'm facing a really ugly time with the Nokia 808 Pureview. I still kept this Symbian phone in this era, because I liked its combination of video, music, loudspeaker and camera. And all apps that I need are present.

But nowadays, Microsoft has acquired Nokia. This means they're paying no regards to Nokia's and Stephen Elop's previous promise of supporting Symbian till 2016.

They're making life tough for us, by cutting all Nokia services and trying to screw up with our Facebook and Email connections too.

        Please read the story here:
I believe Microsoft-Nokia is interfering with my 8... - Nokia Support Discussions

Should they be doing this? I mean, if they have Nokia's assets, Nokia's liabilities are also theirs, right?

And cutting Nokia's services without notice is ok, but what about Facebook, why should they interfere with Facebook image sharing?

Now, I might have to get a new set and my aim would be a great camera with great audio.... I've targeted Samsung Galaxy S5 4G version with Snapdragon 801. From my (sketchy) information, its available in India, but only at Samsung online store and Airtel Service stores... but maybe its a mass market set, and can be ordered.

Its bigger than my preference and I don't like that doesn't have FM radio and the camera hardware is so-so compared to 808, but no big deal. Halfheartedly, I have to upgrade although I was happy with my present mobile.

I too have Nokia 808. Man what a brilliant piece of engineering marvel. Fantastic photo, video and audio and great battery life. MS know how to screw up perfectly running product and services. This phone can serve me for a decade unlike other phone. Checked latest MS/Nokia phone and it feels flimsy and hollow.

Sir If you do want a good camera phone with decent specs I would suggest you to check out the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. It has a bigger sensor and higher pixel count (16 on the S5 vs 20MP for the Zoom). The specs are decent and the screen also good. The S5 doesn't take good pics in low light.

The android ecosystem is very open and easy to learn. There are hundreds of apps for photography and social apps like Facebook and rest are all present.

The S5 will be more expensive and is not a great photography tool. The K Zoom made for a specific crowd (camera-phone lover's).

If you have any queries I'll be glad to help. [emoji4]

Ironically, my link is one day later to yours. And this link also "Fears", not confirms.
Also, I've seen an importer's page which shows that recently in the last of August, Mi imported 20,000 Mi3's into the country.

Thanks buddy. You gave a good suggestion. I have checked it out before. What I really like are Camera and Music quality.

But I chose S5, because of more video recording modes. K zoom has only 1080p @ 60 fps.... S5 has 2160p@30 fps and 720p@120 fps too.
Secondly, I find it too heavy & thick, more than double of GS5 in thickness.
And the biggest factor: It has Exynos, no Snapdragon here. It could mean unreliable performance, overheating, etc.
Plus, I also prefered a water resistant phone, so S5 kind of fits.

I have a Canon EOS 600D DSLR, so I hope to photograph more using it, and less using mobile. Of course, daytime photography seems ok with S5, so that's pretty much what I'll use for it.

I've also checked Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, but comparisons make it seem faded in front of competition, even for camera quality. Loudspeaker is feeble. Reliability is not reportedly too good either.

Damn, how well my Nokia 808 fits the bill, I'm realizing now. If only Microsoft could oblige.

Man, there were days you could just close your eyes while purchasing a Nokia flagship. Even 808 was like that. No overheating, strong battery life, very strong durability, very good video codec support, good audio quality, great camera... and the list goes on....

All the Nokia phones' weaknesses remained in the spec sheet only.... And look today, you live with a phone and end up knowing its ugly weaknesses which were sadly not in the spec sheets.

Samarth 619 very sad to hear that about 808, a benchmark phone. Even after reading your post I am taking the courage to ask "why not Lumia?" I am using one from about a year & can say I am satisfied. Performance is great, zero lag, best camera, good battery life, heremaps (offline) very simple interface & regular updates. Drawbacks could be no folder option (won't miss it), app market is smaller as compare to android. If you are looking at android I would say S5, Nexus 5, Note 3, LG G3 are must compare before you get one home. All the best!

Not good sound quality (in earphones), not complete video codec support, no radio in most of them, not a productive interface although it looks good, no good file management (including attaching pen drives), lack of a character in phones except for Lumia 1020 (a little), their betrayal to initial WP 7 owners (it was incapable to be upgraded to WP8), etc.

And plus, now, I don't want to benefit a company that has cheated us. Neither Nokia, nor Microsoft.

Stephen Elop himself said that Symbian will be supported till 2016. He's a damn liar. And a Trojan Horse for Microsoft. The whole world knows his types... He entered Nokia as a CEO. As his responsibility, he was supposed to make Nokia successful.
But, he got Nokia sold to MS and he also got a big amount from Microsoft for this. (These are all news items, not a made up story.)

As for other sets, G3 is too large and slower due to its 2.5x more pixels. Nexus 5 has non expandable memory & not water resistance, good set though. Note 3 is too large.
I'm checking reviews on GSMArena, and based on that, I decided on S5 LTE version.

Quite true. I am looking for decent spec phone for my wife for her Nokia E7 replacement and found nothing. If you keep away the specs aside the phone got everything. 808 can even take 128GB UHS-I card and got native video support for many formats, USB OTG even supports keyboard, mice and sound cards, dedicated camera key activates even with phone locked, HDMI with dolby DTS pass through, Xenon and led lights, nfc. What it lacks was the apps part which was killed my MS.
