Try again, look dude, maybe you'll find it harsh but did you recently dropped your phone, as its Chinese and GPS chip may've broken, happened with my friends canvas phone.
If even that doesn't help, download phone tester app from Google and see how well your gps is working, see how many satellites it's able to lock onto, if that app shows your gps is fine, then uninstall reinstall maps. Even if that doesn't work and you're out of options, download SYGIC app, it's second best after Google maps.

Even if Wi-Fi isn't having dns connection, the Wi-Fi mapping helps in determining location, haven't you read in Google Now app when it says to turn on Wi-Fi even when you're connected to any WiFi to get maximum accurate location

Almost all phones are made in China... lol!! But that aside, Prateek can you confirm that you are able to get your location to show up on the map? If you are getting your location pointed on the map, then its a software issue, if not then may be some network problem or an antenna problem.

To the guy with the xolo phone maps issue. Force update the maps app if its not up to date. Maps app when running on a dated version with a newer one available tend to act up out of no apparent reason. Next try a faster net connection and switch on gps before you open the maps app. And I wonder why my gps acts up during very cloudy or stormy day.
Ps:- gps does not work indoors.

Now on the controversial china made phones issue. It doesn't matter weather the phone is manufactured in china or korea or Canada or mexico or netherlands. Its the quality of products used, quality control etc that matters. Iphones and few ipods also have outsourced manufacturing in china. They are good quality. E72 made in norway was good quality. Z10 from mexico and Canada are awesome quality. Yes in a personal level I do feel companies such as lava, xolo, micromax etc do cut corners somewhere to meet the price cuts and better features. Nevertheless they do make high selling products and sometimes high quality ones too. Quality control and fault detection, quality assessment better r&d matters more. For example:- All sony phones may not have better built quality than xolo. They may be at par. But quality control and assessment of sony surpasses that of xolo and hence fewer faulty phones reach customer level.
On a bike level bajaj bikes are usually associated with low quality and honda with high quality. Bajaj does cut corners. But faults filter through the assembly line more in bajaj factories and there products are termed faulty and low quality. Whereas honda products go through better inspections etc. Again research and tech. Matters too. Honda makes highly engineered engines with better clearances then bajaj (even though on the same cc bajaj ones make higher power!)(both made in india!)
So judging a product with manufacturing location is wrong.

Dukes made in india go through Q&A checkups etc in austria before being imported to the uk etc... they get the same manufactured, same spec bike albeit problem free usually!

I have stayed neutral all through this post and I am sorry if it hurt anyone and if anyone will differ in opinion its absolutely fine, no fights

and I use a very old bajaj bike and a BlackBerry z10 so I am getting the best of both worlds ehh?! I want indian companies to excell. I hope someday micromax and xolo and lava etc buy nokia and blackberry and sony etc.... bajaj bought ktm, tata got jaguar, some guy indian dude bought yardley, hero bought eric buell... im proud

Joke:- I hope dollar ckub underwares buy jockey!

Anuj_Gupta : Did the clear cache thingy, still same.
Then did the tester app, it was unable to connect to satellites.
And no, it didnt fell. This all happened when Xolo came with Kitkat upgrade.
And regarding Chinese, Lava is Indian company I guess!!!
AmitRavi07 : No it says "waiting for location" and then nothing happens. Although if I search for any place on maps, ot still searches it.
shehbaaz : Did it at 2mbps and Voda 3g speed too.
Divyanshp150 : I have a name buddy, then why "to the guy with xolo phone issue".
I have uninstalled maps, went back to stock factory version, still the same problem. Updated, but still the same.

Now regarding Sygic, I need to buy a 16gb card for that, may be today or tomorrow, as sygic's maps takes too much space.
But just confused will that work or not?

Attaching a pic where if I search a particular location, it does find it.

Prateek who says 16 gb card. .?
App is 42 mb and expands to 77mb.
Delhi map is 45mb,
Up 78mb
Haryana around 40mb
Regarding sygic reliability, well I just came back from 600km ride from delhi-mathura- giverdhan- keoladeo bird sanctuary- fathepursikri- taj mahal and return journey. Didn't asked a single soul where to go, and trust me route after mathura was very topsy turvy.
And the problem is your gps, as tester app was also not able to connect to satellite, so maps are fine.

Visit svc with a I don't know a thing look.
Edit- since gps ain't working, major probability is sygic won't also work, but still you can give it a shot

Prateek, sygic works purely on GPS. If GPS is not working, I dont think you can use Sygic.

More over I dont think Sygic is available in the play store, heard its being discontinued.

It might be an issue with the kitkat update. If you are willin to root your phone, try custom ROMs and see if you can get the issue sorted.

Use an app called apps to sd to move all movable apps to sd card. To free up internal space if its a constraint. Then try to force close the app and clear cache from application manager and then use a 3g or good wifi connection and try to open maps. After this if it dosent work and if the gps never locks on even under open sky its most probably a hardware glitch more than a software one I feel.

Prateek, if its not able to find your location, then the software is definitely not getting a gps location on your phone. Maybe gps connectivity is being affected near your place. I guess you have already checked for the issue by going outside the building you are staying; just take a walk to some nearby place (around 500 mts should do), if you are still not able to get a lock, then the receiver is at fault.
