  • Re: Mobile Phones

A nice thread for mobile phone buyers. Actually i am a noob in mobile phones and do not view this thread a lot.

Moreover with thousands of models flooding the market now, mobiles have become like use and throw gadgets now-a-days. Man, i remeber that first mobile i used was when i was in engineering third year and look at today even a small child will be having a mobile phone. I usually do not like to keep a mobile phone always with me as they cause disturbance while you are doing something.

I have a samsung WAVE 525 quite outdated by todays standard, and it was the first smartphone in those days when android and windows have not launched their assault yet.

Last sunday bought a Nokia Lumia 525 as it was with 1GB Ram, and quite liked it as it was seriously super fast particularly the touch response as i could feel that the keys were qwerty pad was working with the finger still in air with few micro milimetrs gap from screen. The build quality was typical nokia, sturdy and heavy and the plastic quality was very nice.

But the sad thing is that one of my uncles came in evening and liked the phone, he immediately paid the amount and took it and i couldn't even refuse him as he is very close to me.
So the thing is that i will buy another phone but you know what that will take a long time as when buying phones i am quite lazy and my family have to literally push me for buying a phone.

Still using the Samsung Wave 525 which i do not intend to sell even if i get new phone as i will use this one also as this phone is quite reliable and good to use.

recently another uncle got a XOLO 1000 opus and the phone actually feels very good. it is very fast to operate and also the display is quite bright and feels HD. Played a few videos and the display feels like running at 720p, the pictures are vivid and bright.

But one thing i noticed that although present phones boast of 8 MP camera,5.7 MP camera e.t.c, but i feel that my Wave 525 with 3.2 MP camera shoots better and clearer picture than these cameras. Even the lumia 525 that i got although has a 5.7 MP camera and shoots good photos, but my Wave 525 shoots more better photos.

Almost all photos that i have posted on this forum are from my Wave.

Now look out for another phone and untill my family pushes me i will be lazy to buy another phone.

Blame me for wasting money but I have a fetish for experimenting with mobile handsets.
I have a Wave 525 too. It got official updates only till Bada 1.1.3 OS. I tried rooting it for Bada 2.0 but in vain. Too less dev support. Also the 300 odd MB RAM coupled with a 600 MHz processor doesn't help things.
BUT, I love the 5.1 surround capable music player and the 3.2 MP cam on that phone.

The below pic was taken in Chennai with that phone.

I also have a Karbonn A30 which has an 8 MP rear cam. Its utterly useless! Also, Karbonn didn't provide the 4.2.2 Android update for it!

Apart from that, I have a Samsung Omnia W which came with Windows Mango edition, but got updated till Windows 7.8.8. Pretty satisfied with it. Its 5 MP cam is the best of the lot I have!

But I agree, mobiles phones with the youth today is more of a use and throw commodity.

One clarification sir jee; does the above work with the front cam or proximity sensor? If its the latter, then you call call/receive with just covering the phone with your hand. As long as the sensor senses something in front, it would do as required.
          Else, its a lovely feature.

I use the Nokia Lumia 925....which besides being my phone, acts as an awesome camera in my pocket (myself being into Photography)....the 8.7 Pure View Carl Zeiss Camera Lens is an just too good to shoot pics with, when it comes to mobile phone photography..the Nokia Camera giving me full manual controls,be it the ISO,Shutter Speed,WB & top of it all, focusing....yeah it gives u Manual Focus, with amazing DOF (Depth of Field)....

People do have a hick up in using Windows Phones...even I had ..agreed...But once I started using it, I just couldnt think of any of those Androids,IOS...forget the BB (they are primitive now)......If u want,u may check the photographs I have taken from my Lumia 925 at this link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5478229&type=3

no, it does not work on either front cam or proximity sensor alone, it seems to work with a combination of all these and some other sensor. i already tried covering it with hand and/or flipping it from horizontal to vertical position, but it does not work that way. it only works when you take the phone close to your ear in a position you normally do while talking on phone. works flawlessly.

Sirjee I guess you're not into tech that much, these features can be implemented in a 2k android phone or a 4 year old galaxy s too.

@All: Those who are wondering where the internal memory is gone, try this:
                          1. Type *#9900# in Dialer
                          2. Click 'Delete dumpstate and logcat files'
                          3. Scroll down
                          4. Click 'Exit'

I have got back about 1GB of internal memory in my Galaxy Note.
I always used to wonder why I'm seeing the typical 'Insufficient Storage space available' even though I have only about 650MB internal space used up of the total 2GB.

To give an idea of what logcat and dumpstate files are, these are application&crash logs which are stored on Internal memory.
On a rooted phone, they are easy to detect&remove.
On an unrooted phone, the above code gets you the option.

Unfortunately these didn't get detected by Clean Master.
Try Googling it for more info.

                          P.S. Didn't work on Sony/Motorola.

Sent from my Galaxy Note using xBhp Connect mobile app
                          Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Its ok as many people has different types of hobby. Some like buying phones, some like watching movies in theaters, some idiots like me spend money on pampering the bikes. My father always jokes that my salary will not last for maintaining my bikes even.Yes, those old cameras were particularly very good. From the photo that you have posted, see that how clear the photo is and yes, samsung omnia was a very good phone.Ya, the wave has only 600 MHZ and 300 MB ram but remember that it was launched quite way back when India had not the boom of smart phone. I had gone for buying a phone on the same day that it was launched in bhubaneswar, and i was the 2nd or 3rd buyer of that phone. For the time it had a lot of features at that price range. My phone is some little more than 3 years old.Talking about use and throw commodity then it is not only with mobile but with everything. Especially this one i have seen with my cousin brothers and his friends. They have absolutely no care for anything. As you can remember had bought a stunner for him, he never maintains it. Its my uncle who maintains it. Recently my uncle had gone for some work for one month out of station and that bike was literally in fu**ked up state. The chain was dry like winter. Bike was dirty and recently the plug also got shorted because of ripping without warming up the engine. Same with everything from mobiles to PC and what not.The main cause of this is that todays kids get what they like immediately. The parents think that this a show of love as by giving them what they like they show that they love their child a lot. But in this way they are spoiling the child as they do not value the importance of things. My parents never agreed to my request until and unless it is genuine. Does that mean they do not love me. If todays parents think that way then yes i agree my aprents do not love me in their eyes, but look what they taught me.My cousin brother always pokes me as i always maintain my commodity with great care. Phone is 3 years, not a scratch on it, Laptop shines and runs like new, Pc at home runs like new with two operating system, Joy no need to tell, can see from photos and logs, extreme runs better than new and has not a single scratch nor a single fall. While my friends who colleagues of me in bank do not have any salary left at the end of month, i still save half of my salary, which i was taught from child hood. So you see the difference is in the up ringing. And also i tend to agree that i am smitten by the windows phone, and this android doesn't excite me. I am confused as to which windows phone to buy from the Nokia, as had bought a Nokia 525 lumia, but uncle took it. Now deciding which to buy Nokia 620 or 625.

As soon as I came back from Jamshedpur , gifted myself a Xolo Q1000 Opus. It was the only mobile I was looking for apart from Micromax Doodle. Somehow I was more inclined towards Xolo. Paid 9300 for the mobile and 970 for 2 years physical damage insurance. I liked the insurance part : I just need to call the toll free number, someone would collect the mobile from home in 24 hours, will give me same backup mobile and would replace the damaged part within 48hours.
Why I didnt buy it online : For gadgets and gizmos I prefer going to shop feel the product and then buy it.
