I understand you are a symbian fanboy but the fact is symbian is dying/dead dude. Saw your older post.. about apps in androids costing alot. I use my android as a little computer, have 23apps not one paid and i can do everything that my computer can do.

    FYI

According to this.. symbian holds less than 1% market share lol

Apply the same custom ROM or theme to Android and it will be blazing fast. Tell me how many Android phones you have played with? Leave alone your rooting in 10 mins. Could you please mention what Galaxy series your mom is using?

which xperia are you talking about? there are 2-3phones in the 30k range.. anyway if your budget allows then why not?! but for most uses the phones around 20k would do.

Mobile platform is the future and no one could deny that. If you have money at your disposal go ahead else start with a mid range phone. Lower end Android will leave bitter taste. I often see people compare bare minimum Android with IPhone and complain on smoothness and ease of use. Keep in mind that there is only one phone released per say two years by Apple. But it still has it's fair share of problems. You will hate Apple for its notification system.

I'm really not a fanboy, If you were comparing Bada vs Android then I'd definitely vote for Android. But when it comes to the rest, Android just fails to amuse me. The only notable OS that I find comparable to the Android is BB OS, they're like 2 peas in a pod, the only difference is that BB OS runs on RAM.

Currently on my Android, me using 9 apps. among which 2 are supposed to be paid.

The lack of complexity while using cracked apps itself is enough to point out that this can never be considered as a true SmartPhone OS, I can keep explaining my above statement but you wont be able to keep up, cause if you did then you wont be supporting Android.

Lol, BB OS has more market share than Symbian, now I believe you understand, why NOT to buy a phone based on its market share reviews. And opting for Android based on one of the above mentioned review is the best example of herd mentality. So I'd suggest you to try out an OS before you opt for it, rather than going for it based on general reviews of what other people has to say, cause ultimately the market share isnt going to make the phone more useable.

Actually not, cause all the Android roms are focused on are GUI mods, except for CM which focuses abit on performance and supports OC'ing.

I think I told somewhere here; let me admit, after our 3 yr old A/C gave up (compared to 5+ yrs old Onida working strong) I lost faith with Samsung completely. Add to that, the Monte that I'm using currently has very very poor user & operator friendliness. I think I'm falling into Samsung haters club

+1; This is precisely what everyone's saying...I mean all non Nokia users. I get a feeling that the war is between Nokia & rest of the brands. After hearing the menace on N8 & Lumia series about the battery change, I think Nokia is going towards disaster

                  • I have only handled SE NEO with 8MP shooter, so couldn't comment on it. Please choose a phone with more internal memory and that's all I would suggest. OEM's are indirectly pushing people towards cloud computing by stripping phone's off SD card option. Be wise in your choice.

I would say your hatred towards Android is mainly because of the fact that you use Galaxy Y presently. It's a budget phone and leaves bad impression on Android as a whole.

I've used bigger and better, and if you go back a few posts you'd find out that I started vouching against Android even before I got the Y and was using the N500. And am actually not against Android in anyways, just trying to open your eyes, cause currently most people are stuck towards Android thanks to all the over rated media stunts.

                          Edit @RG Sir,
Nice offers, here its around 14k. I wouldve got this instead of the N500, if the pricing was abit more reasonable.

                            - The existing SIM card has to be cut into micro size to befit in the mobile

See Ashwin, like I keep saying, one has to look at NEEDS rather than the price. I'm quite surprised as how my requirements started & now where I'm heading. I started with Nokia & Nokia only, but the reality is something else with the ever changing demands in the market & I'm now inclined towards a brand that was not even in my mind. I was in the owpinion that Sony is good only with TV's & Music systems & now their mobile phone is quite attractive.

So, I'm looking more on the needs rather than the price. I don't mind buying an outdated phone PROVIDED it meets my requirements. Price is also important, but will play a role only when the requirements are met. Even after that if the price is exceeding than what I can afford, then I'll compromise on my requirements.

BTW Ashwin, I take HERE as Kollam; if the offers are available online, then the same price is available to you too

Price determines a major factor in taste. I know cause I've got a BB9360 which costs 20k and a N500 which costs 10k. And the 10k phone has more features than the 20k one. Hope you get the picture. In the mentioned scenereo, needs vary, if a person looking for a VFM then the BB9360 would be a total waste. In short, better skim down to your needs. You have a N70 right??? Have you extensively used 3G on it??? If not then would'nt you be better suited with the less expensive N72??? And wouldnt the extra price you paid for 3G on the N70 be a waste???

Yeah its supposed to be so, but the shops here are asking 14k for it. And that was like almost a month ago, cause its been a month since I got my N500.

I'd suggest you to take a look at HTC's too for their solid build quality. Don't ask me to narrow down on one particular model as I have not used the recent lot of mid range Android phone's. There are lots of YouTube reviews at your disposal. Gsmarena is one but a bit biased towards Samsung.

                                @ Ashwin
Heard mentality and blind fan following is there for each and every platform. A product cannot be made successful without propaganda and that alone is not the deciding factor. You see Windows phone with Nokia branding and still people are reluctant. Isn't Nokia doing the so called media stunts? The reason is that the platform is still evolving and yet to be proven. And coming to Symbian: aging platform and I wouldn't want to be on a sinking ship. My eyes and mind are wide, open and well aware. I kindly suggest you to get out of the deep dry well called Symbian.
