Aargee: Sony UI has a lot of bloatware which slows the phone down. I suggest rooting and uninstalling of unnecessary apps. You can always unroot if at all some day you have to claim warranty. And go for the phone with the most inbuilt storage because even if you use a class 4 SDHC card, the access times are way higher. Maybe a class 6 SDHC will help but I haven't tried it yet.

I use a BB8520 and BB9360 hence I know what it feels to use an overpriced pager. In reliability terms it kicks competition(But it's a double edged sword cause the OS works off ram and I mean that literally, that's the reason why the BB can't be turned off.), but it ends there.

Dude I believe that was an S60v3, how can you have fun with a smartphone without hacking it? Hence proving you didn't utilise it properly, now why blaming a wonderful piece of tech?

BB and Symbian fell cause people forgot the real reason for owning a smartphone and started using it for weird things, like throwing a so called bird without wings at pigs without feet. And Android was there to fill that void as a beginners smartphone os. Now you would argue about the media features, well thats cause when the time Symbian and BB ruled, people who could afford smartphones could also afford laptops, Walkmans, cameras etc.

I don't care much about Nokia as I think everyone thinks i do, it's the OS that matters.
1. iOS - the only mobile platform that has the potential of taking on a full fledged pc, is short rock solid functionality.
2. Symbian - the only os that has best of both worlds, reliability and functionality.
3. BB OS - Rock solid reliability, but limited functionality.

Symbian is dead. there is no point discussing about it.

Am really puzzled here. Could you please elaborate on how weak Android as a mobile OS is right now and how strong Symbian and the rest you have mentioned above. A comparo would be most appreciated.

Hmmm, there was a time when normal people didnt even use smartphones, and thanks to Android that a tale of the past, and now every tom dick and harry has a so called smartphone.

Ok, jokes apart. If you're not intending to root/jailbreak/patch a smartphone then you might be either one of the below.
1. Rich as Bill Gates to pay for every single app, without even properly using it.
2. Just bought a smartphone to brag around and be cool, and to show everyone your smart enough to use a smartphone,by downloading some crappy apps that's provided in the store.

If you're not any of the above then theres no point in you using a smartphone, seriously if you just needed to multitask then any SE A100 based phone would've made you happy.

Exactly! You dont have what it takes to see beyond the exterior. For you the above may be hot, but thats only what you see on the outside (Just like Androids BLING'y GUI), where as the inside remains hollow(Same Java Base).

Frankly I too hope they replace Symbian, but atleast with something thats worth its original glory. Not some flashy mutation.

I didnt mean to way off Android as weak, I just pointed out the benefits of Symbian, and I believe I did a good job, if you believe otherwise then feel free to point out the Flaws in Symbian and Androids + points over it. And I mean substantial points rather than the usual Android is new Symbian is old dialogue, which many Android FanBoy's have been chanting all along without any substantial proof to backup their claims.

Have you ever tried starting up your phone by pressing some other keys along with it(VolUp+Green+Power), you'll see a black screen with text similar to dos, people who've used Linux before would recognize it without a second for thought, yeah its a Kernel based on Linux. In short you see a kind of emulation.

Now the below is a pic of Symbian^3 Core.


This is just the core alone and you can see an entire independent architecture, in a way similar to the C: of you're windows os.

Dude your thoughts are convoluted. BB's were always targeted for business users until lately when they started to loose business to other major platforms , they added few common features and started to promote it as a phone for everybody. There were times when Nokia 6600 was sold as smartphone. I did own one and was bragging of its capabilities. Nobody hates Nokia and Symbian, it's just that people have moved to a better platform that offers more than what Symbian could offer. Since now the so called smartphones are affordable and purchasing power of Indians has increased, people have started buying it. Nokia rested in its laurels and couldn't answer the onslaught of IOS and Android. That's the truth and Nokia themselves will support Symbian till 2016 to enable smooth transition to Windows platform. After that it's fate is sealed.

How did Symbian phone's look and operate before the advent of IOS and Android? If the platform was so robust and secure, why did Nokia opt to meego then later Windows platform? I sincerely hope Symbian stays and powers lower end phones while Nokia uses Windows platform to power mid range and high end phones.

Sorry bro, I didnt mean it in a literal sense. Just got kinda irritated with the Android hype,and people who have no technical knowledge of the same praising it for no reason to backup their claims other than the ad's they see on TV, I believe thats the height of ignorance. Just like a biker owning an R1 would get irritated if a poser with an R15 says his is also a SuperBike cause its got a fairing too. I genuinely meant no disrespect to anyone, I'm also currently using Android and I like it too, due to its userfriendliness and the feeling of constantly being connected, but at the same time I do realize its limitations and hence respect them.
