Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I think there are good options in HTC?
I'd suggest to increase the budget a lill bit. There you've quite good options, like: Samsung Jet, HTC Touch Viva, Nokia N78, SE W705 and Samsung Omnia B7610 pro!
HTC Touch and Magic are quite costly though.
I'd recommend Samsung Jet or Omnia Pro!
Upto 15K, Touch Viva should be adequate.

Nokia N900 due to better Video Recording resolution support, clicky Maemo OS and video codec support. Satio has nothing exciting than a 12MP camera with Xenon and LED. However, not to mention the pathetic VGA video recording that comes with such a hefty price tag, ~38K!
Btw, i would still consider Samsung i8910 Omnia HD before these two sets.
The OS and few AMR recording issues might sound lame, but Hell...every set has some. Not to mention the HD recording, best multimedia playback and biggest Capacitive touch screen available on a phone!
      Need I say more..?

the new OS in N900 is really awesome according to the demo videos i have seen...the satio uses the conventional s60 5th edition.....however i am a photo freak and presently use the awesome N82....thought the n900 looks alluring in every aspect,it disappoints ,me in the camera area as it doesnt have a xenon flash and only 5 mp cam....

N82 has Xenon flash, which without any doubt present its capabilities in low lighting conditions! N86 and Omnia HD on the other hand have more pixels and resolutions available to their Camera Lenses, which ofcourse, downgraded to typical photo albums size or general resolutions have better clarity and sharpness. Again, not to mention that Omnia HD has HD processor for better image detailing.

                • Gaaij,

Urgent help by tomorrow evening please - BB 8320 for 12.5k or E63 for 11k?

My usage would be simple: wifi
Composing texts should be super easy with documents and emails and ease of browsing forums.
Want to have something which can easily open ppts/pdfs well (my bread/butter)

Also with home/office having wifi - would want to use a phone which can seamlessly switch between GPRS and wifi!

                  Advise folks?

PS: Ditched 8310 since wifi usage >>>> gps usage (buying holux m1000b separately)

I sent a PM, but just for adding something more, I'll post here too... I say E63 would be fine for all needs. Individually:-->

                    1. It has Wifi.

2, You can use the QWERTY Keypad, but you can ALSO attach a Bluetooth Keyboard later on ... which is as big as a Laptop's keyboard...
So, typing becomes so damn easy anywhere...

                    3. It must have prebuilt softwares to handle those Microsoft's & Adobe's ... If it doesn't have, I can give you many more to download from sites ...

The "choice" is the factor. I mean, if one PDF reader is not suitable for needs, you can get 4 more!! So, the one which suits your need would be fine ... Windows mobile has less choices in Freeware market... A big reason why I left Samsung Omnia Touch and chose INNOV8...

                    4. In Symbian OS's built in browser, there is an option to "Change Connection", while keeping existing page intact.
The change won't take more than 30 seconds in any case... (Usually 10-15 secs)

About BB 8320, I can't suggest much as I haven't used it much. Nobody in my friends circle owns it... So, I'm unable to comment on it. We are mostly Symbian Freaks...

But, I do know it has an old browser, which supports only HTML, whereas E63 also supports WAP 2.0 and xHTML.

E63 browser has 16M Colors, The BB has some 65k... Even Radio is absent from BB...

E63's browser is modern. You can download, zoom, save images, text, etc... Sound quality is better now, in the later E63's.

I have been using/ testing Symbian Sets for past 6 years. So, I can elaborate on anything Symbian related...

My recommendation: E63, it is new and supports all the big & little things, that matter in long run... You can compare their specs:-->

Nokia E63 - Full phone specifications

                    • Thanks a ton dude - I expected none less from you. Can you expand on the "later" E63s?

A friend has a recent model (1month) which never hangs. Another has a 6 month old one, which hangs once a week. I know vitesh's office junta who upgraded to E71 because of this problem only.

Can you tell what month onwards pieces are safe?

What about Omnia 7320 - its getting rave reviews - I am just excited about the fact that its got 1.5x faster processor, inbuilt GPS, 2x RAM. What say?

EDIT: Samsung is useless. I cant figure whether its real GPS or AGPS. can anyone help

I'm one of the two people chosen by Sony Ericsson to test the Satio and blog about it. The phone would be launched internationally on Oct 16th, so if you're interested in it, keep up with info (And ask questions at Satio Launch Blog).
