  • How 'bout those chinese mobiles that r currently available in the market.I'm using mobilephones for many years and one thing I realised that I use my phone only for 2 purposes- 1.Calling 2.Occasional listening to music( I'm not an audiophile though.I used a Sony Ericsson W810i normally.Out of sheer curiosity,I bought a china-make mobile phone a few months back.Though it is sold by an Indian company ,it is originally one of those chinese phones. It has no top of the order features , but somewat feature-packed it was nonetheless. It has--
1.Dual sim capability ,both supporting GSM.
    2.Decent sound quality.
    3.Good FM radio.
4.A 2 mega-pixel camera ,though quality is not as good as found in a sony ericsson or nokia.
    5.A 2.4 inch touch-screen , comes with a stylus.
6.Expandable memory upto 4GB using microSD , comes with a 2GB card for free!!!

It comes bundled with an extra battery , a charger ,a decent set of earplug ,usb connector ,and a charger converter that u can connect with a nokia charger.I was rather satisfied with picture quality.mp4 video playback is supported. The best feature I found 'bout this phone is the dual sim capability. The mobile-phone service providers offer different plans. Some provide benefits for STD calls and some provide benefits for local calls. Now with this dual sim feature I can use both the facilities on different sim-cards while carrying only one mobile in my pocket!!!And I needed it very much,as I've friends all over India as well as in my state with whom I always stay in contact over phone. The battery life is good so far, atleast better that my sony-ericsson.And all this at a cost of Rs.3600 only!!!! I have been using it for past few months and encountered no problems so far.
Currently there r many Indian companies in the market which r selling these china-make mobile phones.Though previously some of them didn't come with an IMEI no. but presently they all come with IMEI no. registered with the BABT.
These mobiles provide good value for money imo ,and hence I think they'll make a good buy!!

The China mobiles have great features for that price, but reliability is an issue-they are good as long as they work! Once spoilt, you need to write them off.

      • @all: I have a HTC Touch, which I plan to sell. It is about a couple of years old, and I had purchased it for Rs.20,500/-. How much can I expect now? Any decent idea about it would be appreciated.

I sold my Dad's HTC Touch which was purchased for 17K after 1.5 years. The market resale value was Rs.5.5K, but we gave it to a friend, so charged him 5K.

Yes, my Dad's model was the 1st basic HTC Touch&like I mentioned, it costed 17K then.
Overall in Hyd Windows Mobile phones have less resale value as compared to smartphones from Nokia-they are the highest in terms of resale value, alteast in my city.

surely thats an issue....i asked the same question to the shopowner b4 buying...he said the company provides a guarantee of 1 yr and also has service centres in vicinity...so I can take the phone to him or the service centre if I encounter any problem..this shop is in my neighbourhood and i know the shopowner well...so i guess he won't try to hoodwink me with false claims....so far the mobile is performing well...btw there r some Indian manufacturers as well like Intex ...Their products r also worth having a look..Some of their dual sim mobiles support both gsm and cdma connections... and the prices r much less as compared to the nokia or sony ericsson mobiles..

Got some questions on the performance of the GPS functionality that is present in phones. This is something I really know nothing about so appreciate any help. Listing out my doubts

                  1. If I purchase a phone with GPS feature, do I have to purchase Nokia Maps (for Nokia phones) or other maps software ?

                  2. What are the charges for the same ?

                  3. Can I use Google maps (assuming I have a GPRS connection / wifi connection) without buying some maps software ?

                  4. If I am travelling somewhere and want to use the GPS feature, does it take a long time for a signal lock ?

                  5. Anyone using the E71 and its GPS feature ? Could you share your thoughts ?

                  6. Anybody have then new Samsung Omnia with a QWERTY keypad ? Feedback ?

No. But the Nokia phones come with a free subscription for a month or two. Most navigation services are paid. If you just want to get your position or track your route, you have lots of free apps for Nokia atleast.

                    No idea.

                    Yes, you can.

I use a 5800, it takes between 2-5 minutes when standing out in the open

                    5. Anyone using the E71 and its GPS feature ? Could you share your thoughts ?
                    I use the 5800 XpressMusic

I got a used Nokia 6210 Navigator from eBay for a bargain a few months back. It was working great untill last week, when I couldn't switch it on! I thought maybe it's the battery and set it for a full charge. Yet, when I tried starting it, it's not starting up.

Any ideas? My room is pretty damp and mouldy, and the handset lies there unused all day most of the days. Can that be a cause? What am I supposed to do now with the cell, Nokia Care?

                      • Help to dispose off cell phones!!

Now as I got a new phone, I have got three old phones lying at home. So I want to dispose them off. Can someone suggest someone in Bangalore who buys/takes old phone which have/don't have minor malfunctioning?

                        I have got:
                        - One reliance phone with low battery backup problem
                        - One Nokia 1200 with screen broken, which was a makeshift phone for me.
                        - One Sony Ericsson T610 phone with microphone problem

                        Thanks.

                            Which one is better
                            sennheiser mxl60 street line
                            or
                            creative ep630
the senn is slightly more expensive but its a earphone where as ep630 being ear plugs offers noise isolation.
this is the first time im going in for good headphones instead of the generic philips/sony stuff available for 200 bucks in supermarkets so i want to make a good decision.
                            any inputs??
                            regards

Harsha i just bought a pair of 630 yesterday for my my touch , it has more of trebble and less of bass but they are very comfortable , you can wear them at a strech for hours, btw dont pay anything more than 750-800 for them as some shops are selling them for 1100 + , senn could be good soundwise but i would prefer ear pods rather than ear phones for comfort value. also if u could lay your hands on 830 that would be better as it has 2 seperate driver for bass & treble
