Thats Correct Sheel. HIDs are not standard fitment and the mechs are not trained for that..

Engine wise, asking a mech at a Yamaha Service centre as to how many engines he has opened up would be an interesting statistic ...

Also, I'm not sure about other cities, but certain mechs atleast in metros are trained to work on the R1 and MT01 too ...
A big bore kit installation for such mechs shouldn't be a that troublesome ..

And if you go by what Joel has stated --

I dont think that all this is even needed ...
    IMVHO of course ..

I'm still confused as to what I should be going for in my first step. Big bore? Or else, ECU+exhaust? I dont think my budget will permit me to go for all three at once, can confirm that after we talk about prices. I'm not very keen about low end torque. As long as it's revvy and generates more power, I'm happy. And, I can change the cam only once, cant change it once for stage-1 and again for stage-2.

Also, another doubt: You say the 165cc kit improves fuel efficiency. Does this mean it gives more kms to the liter than the stock 150cc kit? If yes, it's truly confusing! I mean, isn't it supposed to be burning 15 more cc of mixture per cycle? If you think it's time, let's take the price-talk over PM, and also.. do let me know about your schedule in the coming 45 days, since I dont expect you to be free all the time due to the new WTR-ten10 collaboration.
same doubt here dude...how a 165cc bore replacement can give bttr fuel economy....

also an OT question for JOEL.... i hav a stock r15 n it can beat a pulsar220 anyday( raced a lot of times on highway n in city) because of its excellent handling...
but can it beat the ninja 250r on track because of the same reasons(handling n better delta box frame)...
also what is the cost of the bore kit.... :P

Refer to my post here! You'll get your answer regarding the fuel efficiency of the setup.

The big bore has a higher burning efficiency compared to the stock bore and is one of the reasons why it is more fuel efficient. Joel can probably explain it better.

          Joel,

Happy that u have grown ahead in your skills and being the first Indian motogp team and Race engineer. Congratulations and Best wishes for your future prospects.

Just want to know whether you have anything for FZ, else i got seriously think of getting a R15 to get your mods.

@bikerfas - Thanks man. well nothing for the FZ yet. The R15's list is not over yet. The development is an on-going process and hence expect more for the R15. Clearly the potential of the R15 engine is superb and hence performance upgrades on this engine makes more sense and is more value for money.

@hotshot - Well, lets not get into the match of how much cubic capacity gives what mileage. It does not work that way. The burning efficiency of an engine is defined by a lot of factors. With an improved piston design, increased compression and low friction, the bigbore kit manages to attain higher volumetric efficiency than your standard block. About the cost, send me a PM. Quite frankly, it costs around the same as your OE kit only.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

^I have exhausts for the R15, RTR and P220 only at the moment.

                    • @ joel:a 165 cc should suck in more air during the suction stroke so to extract power dont we need to increase the quantity of the injected fuel? does that mean tweaking the CO value or a remapped ecu is a must?

                      • Joel do you have a big-bore/ bolt-on kit for P200? My 30k kms old 200 is feeling old now and Installing P220 kit seems quite an headache job. Is there any bolt-on kit i can order from delhi and you can send it over here and i can install it on my 200 so it can atleast keep up with 220s? I dont want the roar of a free-flow exhaust as there are 4 traffic lights on my way to office with traffic police and they wont entertain a loud exhaust.

Nope its not needed. The standard CO setting can handle it.

Since this is a 'High-Flow' Air Filter, does it need any adjustments to the CO rating, or is it plug and play?

                            • Plug and play. The stock ECU can handle that much variation.
