However, rev-limiter plays spoil sport sometimes. Wondering how to get rid of this.
And yes FFE is not very loud, it sounds sweet tho.
Hope you recall Ashish from orkut comms...

Hi Ashish. My bike does not have any rev-limiter though . It goes all the way to 12000 rpm and then sits there until I shift Gear.

        • ECU and Camshaft

Just ordered a ECU and Camshaft from Joel. Will post a detailed write up on the installation on my thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/pit-stop...amaha-r16.html. In the meantime, I need to finish the remain part of the initial buildup... just could not find the time... have been traveling and grappling with too many work related issues for the past month... will do it most likely by this weekend. Also need to get a dyno run done... have promised a few guys that I will inform them when I go for one... so I have not forgotten about that... will do that within the next couple of weeks...

Also a tale of caution for guys who what to hot rod... couple of friends wanted to hot rod their R15s. After taking a look at my bike, they sourced TDR 60 mm blocks from Malaysia (despite my advising them not to do so). After assembly, both engines have suffered catastrophic engine failure within 50 to 75 kms. While the cause will only be know once we open the engine (they assembled the same while I was not in the country), my initial impression from their description of what happen is that the head and valves have bought the farm... looks likely that a 15 - 25k expense on the engines...

This is the route most take and end up in soup. Indians always feel there is something better outside the country. so much so that I'm getting order requests from malaysia and other south east asian countries. I'm clearly declining orders as their first intention is always to copy and mass produce. I have seen plenty of these aftermarket bigbore kits going down the dog route. Anyways, we cant educate the whole country.

                  • Hey folks just a thought went through my mind,
while a fully blown up daytona kitted r15 produces around 2 to 2.5 bhp whereas joel's bigbore and filter alone produces around 3 bhp,
                    which is massive...
                    great work joel...

Mate I dont think you should even compare Daytona with Joel's work
Daytona is best only for producing loud farts

I wouldn't call daytona kit "fully blown"
and joels setup has the BIG BORE :P..
Also, I suggest not to compare just by hp figures as they represent only the peak, which is very narrow in case of daytona. Joels setup gives good torque at all revs which helps a lot in city commuting and comfort..

I'll answer this, to clear all the confusion.

0-100 of a daytona kit is around 12 secs.
Cost of the kit - 38k
                            includes, cam, ecu and exhaust.

                            My kit,
                            bigbore, exhaust - 9.2secs to 100kph
cost - way lesser than half of the daytona kit.

stock engine + exhaust + ECU ( no cam)
                            0-100kph - 11secs
                            cost - Around half

                            bigbore, exhaust, camshaft, ECU
                            0-100 - around 8 secs
cost - still way under the daytona kit

And for the same cost as the daytona kit, it will be around 4-5 secs quicker (depending on the weight of the rider etc).

So this is the value for money split of the performance parts. more bang for the bucks!

                            • Hey joel will u please solve my query about your air filter...
as some of the members here have said that after fitting your filter their mileage increased but you've said that the stock ecu can handle the extra air flow but the mileage should only increase when the mixture is lean....
So is their anything that i'm not aware of...
                              please throw some light..

                              • Slot the new airfilter and you will get good gains.
