Yesterday I had completed 500km's of break in, to celebrate this a bottle of 'part synthetic' castrol oil was purchased along with an oil filter.
In the mean time I had taken my bike to get the air filled in the tyres, both front and back were leaking air from the rim, the tyre shop I had taken to, refused to fill air, I didn't get their point, now my front tyre has a tube for the past 3 months, this had reduced the ride quality, handling and also my confidence, anyway the fellows over there claimed they could fix the problem, as usual my skepticism set in, anyway this guys confidence was second to none, time to give him a chance? screw it, i let him try the rear tyre first, air was leaking and would require top ups every few days, damn annoying, but still I didn't really want to buy a new pair of rims. So he starts wet sanding the inner rim, polishes it up nicely, then cleans up the tyre, removes all the crud that has built up, pops the tyre back on the rim, fills with air, then blasts air from the nitrogen machine to over inflate the tyre, then sets the correct pressure, pops water on both sides of the rim for us to inspect, voilla no air bubbles, checks for punctures (NONE) ans we're good to go, happy with that i decide to let him do the front, now in my mind this one won't work, air was leaking so bad before, I would need to pump air twice daily, he promised if it didn't work, no charge, then voila sweet! pop the wheels back on and I'm good to go! pull off at a steady pace, then an Oh F@#% moment a rickshaw pulls in front of me from a side road, no problem i grab the brake lever and what? NOTHING the front break fully in and nada, i'm veering towards a bunch of parked bikes, I remember that I have a rear brake, slam that puppy to the floor, I stop just in front of a cop car! I check the front brake again, no issues and again and again, blah blah, must have been water on the disc, very bizarre and scary moment!
Anyway I ride home, give it a little extra throttle, hoping the tyres will be good, after 13 km's reach close to home, i have an excellent mechanic 200 metres from my home, ask him to change the oil, he's reluctant as it's almost 7pm and very dark, I talk him into it, he drops me home and rips the bike to the workshop. The tyres have held up so far, so at this stage of break in I have run around 350km's on the same mineral oil, the gear change has become notchy, the engine is begining to become rough and a little noisy.
We pop in the new golden syrup and off I go for a short 8 km run, feels nice but can't really tell.
So this morning I head off for a 100km round trip, I head off slowly as usual, after around 10km's I hit the highway, then it's time rip a little bit, awesome is the word! the bike pulls nicely even at 3 k rpm in 6th, still searching for 7th, uphill i zip past most cars with ease!
Smooth, apart from idle the bike is pretty much as smooth as stock, the ffe does make it chug a bit, but what do you expect from a single cylinder engine? Now the ride home was just unreal, my confidence in riding has improved, with the extra power on tap, I no longer feel vulnerable overtaking etc.
From a standing start using the full rev range and keeping in the power band 100 kmph comes up quick, I estimate a shade under 9 secs with my holiday weight. Now that's not the be all and end all, in gear acceleration is what it's all about, good delivery of torque keeps the entertainment levels high, ride in the power band(traffic permitting) and the smile will be stuck to your face, now with the kit the active power band is realistically between 5k rpm and 9.5 k rpm, this will change once i install the ECU that I ordered today, flat spots between 4k and 5 k rpm and above 9.5k rpm restrict the party a little.
My warm up procedure, now in the mornings or whenever I have not used the bike for more than 2-3 hours, I always let her idle for around 3 minutes, this is not really to warm her up, but more to circulate the oil, then I set off keeping the revs below 4.5k rpm for the first 5 km's or so, then I increase gradually for the next 4-5 km's, then I am free to ride how I want.
Now about Joel's Free flow exhausts, these can be loud and obnoxious, when hot they mellow out nicely, this is because they are thoroughbred racing exhausts, their function is to improve power output, which they do sublimely, a street exhaust like 2 bro's will give far less benefit in terms of power output and cost.
So next is the ECU, then I will be opting for the Valve and Clutch springs from Joel, after that I guess headwork will be on the shopping list.
Next oil change will be at 2000km's, maybe will switch to fully synthetic then.

.my mech Told me because Of The Race Camshaft. But Through my experience and through Mr joels Advice I Understood My Self Got damaged Coz my battery was low and that happened coz of the angel eyes.Anyways Got that replaced so everything was running good except the sound of my engine then suddenly one day when i was Riding at The Speed of 70km/hr my engine stopped working that day i understood that Why Mr Joel Always tells to get the parts installed from showroom. So I took My byk To Service centre They Found that My Block piston got Damaged.Anyways Mr Joel Helped me By Replacing The Block piston And I am Really Thankful To that. Then after Month I mean today I got My Block Piston installed From Yamaha service center and Really I didnt have any issue now Expect battery. But I didnt Faced Any probs till now Regarding The Battery.Even If I face Any probs then No Probs As MR JJ Is Always There To Help U
