@ Biplab: Its obvious that you've been misguided by some mechanic. First your engine gives various "sounds" and then your self gets screwed up? That too due to low battery?
And even later, after repairing, the sound of the engine persisted? That means it wasn't due to low battery in the first place?? Its clear that something is not what it seems, and some or the other people did misguide you.

@ Aargee: The figure of 25 bhp is something that Joel tells him, so he's not wrong in conveying the info, as it is. Its quite possible that his other info might be inaccurate too, based on his interactions with the mechanics. So, please go easy. Thanks.

      • ^^^ Yes Mr.Moderator, thank you for intervening
        All I need clarification are...
        1. 25 Bhp on R15 with 170cc
        2. Engine seizure due to low battery power

After this Aargee is out of this thread
BTW, I'm not getting personal at all & you very well know how my posts would look like when I get personal isn't it Lol

        • Ok let me frame the question for you -
          1) Your bike's self got damaged - Here the "self" means self - start, right? And that was due to angel eyes, am I correct?
          2) Have Joel told you that your bike now produces 25bhp and is 170cc?

          • prateek2210 - Its a waste of time; your post is anyway going to get deleted by the mods. I simply cannot believe how my questions were considered OT & Personal ranting.

Finally someone who understands what I said....
Ya...actually because of angel eye my battery was low and useless I was using my self start again and again that led to overheating and finally it got damaged...

Either you or Samarth or both took it too personal; I don't want to continue here as my posts are constantly deleted. Really, I didn't have anything against you or your post, all I wanted to understand were those 2 things. Now I'm no longer interested & my heart felt thanks to Samarth to have deleted those post especially citing reason as "OT & personal ranting"; seriously disappointing

                  • I had never seen a thread with so much deletion at the start itself....
The thread itself doesn't seem to have contributed to anyone's knowledge except confusion on the R15's capability with big bore, cam, etc., mods...
The only thing I had learnt again here is to leave things as stock for reliability, safety and peace of mind..

ps, this seems OT but still...

Most of the mods are subject to the quiality of assly / experience in designing the modded components. Since i have not seen Joel work, i wont comment on that. but as far as i have seen with most of the people, its hit or miss...
you either get it right and claim to be brilliant...
                        OR
you get it wrong and put someone at blame...

No-one does the calculations / stress analysis / cooling system upgrades.

just to highlight The point, the R15's radiator runns at full speed even in stock condition. meaning that it is already working at the max capacity that it can.
now this is for 17 bhp. consider that the ic engine has about 33% peak efficiency. this means that the radiator is pumping out 17*2 = 34 bhp of heat.

now consider what will happen if this figure is raised to 25 bhp of power. you have 50 bhp of heat to be dispelled which is about 50 % more than the already loaded system.

now can anyone explain how can a system be ensured to be reliable when it is running way beyond its designed capacity?

I highlight this issue because i am currently strugling to cross the 15 bhp mark on my hunk because of this problem.
most of the mods are just psychological. the enhanced sound makes you feel going faster.
ask the modifier to put the claimed figure on paper and he will run faster than a person with his arse on fire.

all in all, mods are a topic that require either a very skilled and experienced person. or someone who knows what a calculator can do

                          • ^^^ I will answer this in short; my bike makes around 22 bhp (around 18 - 19 bhp net as tested on a data logger). It is over 16 months and 8,000 kms old. I have never faced any heating problems, and the fan hardly ever switches on, that too in very heavy traffic. So your assumption that the cooling system on even the stock bike is stressed is wrong. Period!!!!
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

You are right...An Internal combustion engine is a thermal machine with poor efficiency.More work and more temperature requires better cooling, better circulation of fluids, and reduction of heat stress on components...apart from this there is the question of physical stress on component ....I do not want to start on these as it is beyond the scope of this thread. At the Factory, Engineers who design and, build engine and their components, have certain critical reason for stopping with respective characteristics of engine which is why I said it is better to leave things STOCK and enjoy the ride

Anyway, I reiterate my 2 questions...
                                1. How does a 170cc motorcycle make 25 Bhp from 16.76 Bhp approximately? A whooping 8.24 Bhp?
                                2. What was the reason for engine seizure that too when a LC engine running just at 70 Kmph
