YZF R25 ?????? The question my dear friend is a very big If and an even bigger when. Suzuki and Yamaha have just now woken up to a multi cylinder 250cc sports, and they'd be on the drawing board now if at all !!Originally posted by jasmeetsinghchawla View PostThere can be something say a YZF R25
Right now there is no alternative to Ninja and frankly we dont even need any alternatives. And what makes anyone think a 250 from yamaha will be sold at less than 2 lakhs. Their carburetted 150 costs upwards of 75k for gods sake.
I undestand Yamaha stands for quality and all that, and I'm also a hugest Yam fan. But they do price things at a premium.
The only company that regularly prices products competitively is Bajaj and if they are pricing Ninja @ 2.5, there might be a reason for it. Maybe also that they want to make as much profit as possible like Zma wen it was launched and later price it more sensibly !!
But the point is will anyone buy a Ninja for 2.5 lakhs. I know I will as any other alternative will be much more costly. And I am itching to have a proper sports bike in my hands now !! Is it worth 2.5 lakhs ?? I dont know, never ridden one !! So anyone hu says its owrth only 1.5 or 1.6, I really dont understand on what basis. Noone has ridden the bike here and seen the level of quality parts it got !!
On the basis of pure conversion rates, it retails at close to $3300, which will be 165000, but in that way, even R1s are costly in india !! But pple hu bought it found it to be worth it.
And about practicality, its a sport commuter, so it'll be as comfortable as any sport commuter can be. And a 250 cc bike can be used to commute. I have an Aquila and I can easily commute in the busy Bangalore traffic !!
Of course I'm frustrated that I cannot open her up, but you cannot open a reasonably powerful (relatively) bike in any city in the world. Even to really enjoy a Hayabusa pple even in US have to hit the highway. Wich is what we will do with the Ninja.
At least I know I will !! And ya I'll buy the Ninja at 2.5 lakhs !!
As day say 'dil lagi deewar se to pari kya cheez hai' !!
Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

@sukant : i believe people would rather go and buy a second hand sports bike (2000-2002 - 600's) for 3-3.5
That could be the reason why we'd like it to be priced less than 2 L.sigpicThe Moto Cafe - India's first bike theme cafe @ Chandni Chowk

Then again, the question of illegal ownership comes in. Because once you are spending the big bucks, the last thing you would want is the headche and the ever present "fear" of something wrong happening...Originally posted by niks_devil666 View Post@sukant : i believe people would be rather go and buy a second hand sports bike (2000-2002 - 600's) for 3-3.5

With the Ninja 250, even though one would perhaps be paying close to 2.5 lakhs for "just" a 250cc machine, atleast they would be rest assured of the fact that it IS after all, a legal machine they are owning. So, it all comes down to what choice one makes.
I, for one would obviously want to own a legal machine, even if it is "JUST" a 250cc engine, rather than spending close to 4-5 lakhs and getting home a probable headache. Peace of mind, is my choice.:)

Friends, SBKs aside for sometime please, I have am in dilemma. Need to buy a bike for myself preferably a 150 c.c. I am a college student and would like to have a bike of mileage about 50kmpl and gud looks. Because of the speculations, I have been waiting for a new bikes to be launched (bajaj's, HH's etc) for the past 1 yr and found nothing
I would like to ask you all whether to wait for some more time or go buy an existing bike right away!(preferable cbz-x)...
I actually like to get a bike which is worth the wait I have done!!
Please advice, thanks in advance .
From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

You hv not mentioned if you have any purchase budget restrictions. Only mentioned bout the mileage. So in that case I guess the RTR (carb or EFI) shud be the best bet. Unless you are above 5'10" or above, in which case you'll feel cramped and if you are top heavy, look a bit ackward too. And you dont want that to happen in front of the college chicks right !!!Originally posted by haxor View Postbetter get stunner or apache rtr efi!

Also remember with such bikes the mileage will depend a lot on how you drive. If you rip like crazy it'll not give you 50 KMPL, but this is just wat I observed, I might be wrong. The other options in my opinion are the good ol' Hunk and Pulsar.
Haven't mentioned a Unicorn coz I have seen that opinion bout the Unicorn can be very polarised !! If you had a Unicorn in mind this topic wouldn't have arisen. As the same like a bullet owner. A bullet owner will always buy a bullet only and in the same way a person hu has homed on a Unicorn will always buy a Unicorn only.
Again its just my opinion, as I am nowhere near being a ZEN of opinions I might be wrong.Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!

Bajaj will launch a new motorcycle each month for 6 months beginning January 2009. The new motorcycles we can expect from the Bajaj includes - new facelifted Pulsar 220cc, new Pulsar 200 FI, XCD sprint, Blade scooter, new low cost product (might be called as Steel) and an unknown product.Seems like Bajaj will fire on all cylinders in 2009…….
