2009 Speculation thread: What bikes could be launched?

Dangerous statement.

It's all puzzling. My take is, Bajaj simply cannot afford to disappoint. They have given multiple assurances. Looking at the way competition has taken market share upwards of 150cc, Bajaj needs this and they know it.

Bajaj will keep on assuring us, and we'll keep on hoping. But, in the recent past there has been really next to no news regarding the Ninja.

ok , so should I read this as we will have zx14,zx10, vulcan series along with KTM's and 250r ? If this happens then it would qualify as a 'storm'

He means there might be a chance that the Ninja will NOT be launched ever, in India! Looking at Bajaj's strategy (the never-ending wait to launch the bike), it might very well be true. A speculation it remains, I hope though. I wonder when will (if ever) the Ninja will see the light of day on our shores...

I agree with you completely. Bajaj are at 2 disadvantages - one being Ninja's import costs & pricing. Second being it's news spread around.

Think about it - Bajaj's news gives other OEMs opportunity to think & plan. and Yamaha might just bring in something with killer pricing & similar package as the Ninja 250 itself.

However, I wonder which powerplant would be used for it? We know R15 comes from long stroking & adjusting the YZF R125.
So, where would be this 250's engine from, if at all?

I think and saw some news doin rounds that a 250 Rseries is being developed due to release in 2011.It would complete their R series,youths all over the planet are waiting for it............eagerly.In Europe R125 spoilt the kids and they want their next bike tobe a Yam 250cc supersports.Yamaha is banking on this opportunity.So if Ninja comes to India Yamaha would follow it in for this niche market.It is having a new engine specially of Rseries.

all though, a Yamaha 250 cc (European version) bike is on the cards according to many bike magazines but I wouldn't believe the above pics eyes closed. Remember "assumed" 2009 R1 pic on one of such Chinese/Japanese magazines which were outrageously fantastic but were fake?

I've just googled "YZF 250 R4"....and visited various forums which the search results showed me...looks like this news is almost six months old...and if yamaha's really working on this 250...the bike should come out by next year...but will yamaha launch this bike simultaneously in india will be the question ?
