2009 Speculation thread: What bikes could be launched?

whats it about some new bike other than the pulsar series coming from bajaj? 300 or 500 or something, is this true?

I remember reading in a mag i think it was overdrive or bike india that rajiv bajaj has given his rnd team a green signal for a 300 single and a 400 twin cyl bike...i think it was quoted in an article on 220

guys it's not about complaining about bajaj but the company's moves are sort of weird.

1. They keep showcasing the ninja since so many auto expos.

AFAIK Ninja has been showcased only in the 8th Auto Expo, can you tell in which all auto expos you have seen this bike?

As far as I'm concerned, I want a bigger Yamaha, maybe a 400-600 ... I am just hoping! ok?

Me too, but unfortunately the Govt.has only opened up laws for 800cc+segment, that too via CBU route, which makes the price of say an R1/Busa more than double of its original price by the time we buy it. I'm waiting for some 400-600cc bikes to come in via CKD route, which will reduce prices greatly&we may get them for almost the same price that they are available in other countries for! The Ninja is supposed to be the first of this kind. Hope for some bigger CKDs soon!

Yes Ken da, I met a guy riding a '07 R1 which he bought for 6.25lakhs a few days back. Felt like doing the same, but donno if it was a legal import or not! Can't really bring myself to getting a secondhand superbike, especially after reading the way you felt when you saw 000000 on your R1! Guess I'm gonna save up&wait for the first legal CKD to be launched above 500c!

If you remember the kawasaki ninja 250 was showcased even in 2006 expo. After that they also released half page newspaper ads in which there was a ninja and the ad said something like "The shape of tomorrow or shape of things to come". It was a black coloured one in the ads.

Its nice if Bajaj did the 200Fi but more importantly i'd hope the Fi could be retrofitted for the normal 200's

I thought we're talking about upcoming bikes in 2009! How did we go back to 2006?

In the year 2006, Ninja was not updated to a modern bodywork. It was still sold in its 'basically unchanged since 1987' form. Also in 2006 Bajaj's entire focus was on P220, and couldn't have let Ninja 250 steal its thunder.

So there was no Ninja 250 in 2006.

Dude, just relax !! Its not Bajaj's fault that we are runing around impatient. Companies take time to get Expo models to reality. Happened to DN-01 and so many others. Agreed Ninja is an already built motorcycle, but still the logistic nightmares of getting it here is something you and me are not aware of !

Also Kawasaki makes a limited number of Ninja 250s per year. I read somewhere that the 2008 numbers were over by Sep itself or someting like that. So Bajaj also has to discuss numbers with Kawasaki in this regard.

There might even be a fair chance that Bajaj might be pusing back the launch dates just because of recession. I mean, c'mon 2Lakhs is a big sum and frankly people are putting of their big buying decision as of now.

So I guess we'll just have to follow the mantra 'Good things come to those who wait' !! But .......... aaaarrrggh .. c'mon Bajaj !!
