I thought there was no separate thread for reviews on Race Concepts kit for Apache Series RTR.. but if something similar already exists, mods, please merge it..
This is the story on how I got the Race Concepts kit for my RTR180 ie Big bore + Headwork + FFE. If you want to skip the droning & boring part, skip the next few lines

Since I first heard about Race Concepts (sometime last year), I looked a bit more at that time about it in its website & xbhp & after reading all the reviews, it was always running around in the back of my head, unable to shut it down
. But I was afraid of getting it done, dont know why, might be because of warranty, or how to convince my parents, or wondering if I really needed it??Days passed, then months, the reviews on xbhp kept flowing
more & more FFEs & big bores.. & one fine day (in March) I made up my mind & shot a mail to Joel, asking details about everything. After some discussions online, I met him personally & got to know about all the mods in detail. For some reason (busy office schedule i guess) I somehow dropped the idea of getting it done anytime soon & just got carried away in the daily chores of corporate life.. And another fine day, in June, the online discussion with Joel began & let me cut to the chase, finally on July 21st (One week before her bday
), I got the Big bore, Headwork and FFE done in Joel's workshop itself. That week was one of the busiest week in office & this was the most awaited moment! And there I was, acting like a small kid in excitement, dont know what to say.. turned on the ignition & oh the sound! (this was with dB killer
) & after some more discussions & after getting the dB killer removed, bid him goodbye & now again oh the sound! I never expected it to be anything like this
you have to hear it live to know what it feels like.. not even on video..And so here are the first impressions after riding it for a week..
First thing you ask is where the hell are the vibes?? Joel was saying it becomes like a Honda engine, & I am not exaggerating, it has!

Secondly there is massive difference with & without dB killer.. without it, the engine becomes a total beast, feels more smooth, revs easily & there is significant power gain in low & mid range rpm (Can't test the high rpms before run in
) & its really hard to resist to go beyond 5k rpm .. & did I say loud?? The idling has an enfield like thump & if you want to be safe in city, you dont cross 4k rpm or just let go of throttle if you see a cop (just to be safe).. when u let go of throttle, it sounds like a slowly building thunder, which in my opinion is the best sounding part.. Other thing is the attention you get.. most people give second looks as to what is causing that sound, one guy actually asked me if I cut the stock silencer!!!
Only drawback of this is, you also attract attention of street hooligans who try to race with you & ride rashly even if you dont bother to look at them (One guy did a wheelie in front of me & let go of both hands for sometime in some narrow road in a proper residential area... Heights of craziness!!!
)Plug in the dB killer, the sound comes down a lot, sounds more like amplified version of stock.. there is quite noticeable reduction in power gain.. bottomline, less fun to ride
.. Was not able to test mileage as of now, but it will definitely be more than stock.. Currently, I am riding everywhere with dB killer because of the sole reason that I wont be able to resist revving if i remove it
& also to avoid unnecessary attention! Waiting for the weekend rides for proper mileage tests
Joel, thanks a lot man! Needless to say, you have made my office commute really fun!

And all other RC kit owners, please pitch in your reviews...
UPDATE!!
