  • Re: LS2 Helmets India - Genuine or Fake ..??

I read the whole thread, and come to the conclusion that I should avoid LS2 helmets, the response of the manufacturer is a clear sign that we are getting fakes or substandard helmets. After all, it's a Chinese company.

This reminds me of my "investigation" of a HID parts manufacturer whose products are very common here. I ended up uncovering a huge plot of fact twisting and rebranding. Those rebranding the cheap Chinese products in USA has their own forum going on there too, which is the most popular forum when it comes to HID lighting.

I talked about it with Debraj (The retrofitter from Kolkata, IDK his xBhp handle) briefly but I stopped pursuing it as I was leaving motorcycling for good at that time, though I came back, cause I love it too much.
    I am back!

Was going through my search of new helmet and found the laxmiauto website which is been redirected from ls2's website .
It shows some of the authorized dealers in different areas..
Just a question in my mind, does those authorized dealers too sell fake ls2?😰😞

Actually the dubious response received from the manufacturer itself has put us in doubt. Through this thread, I have concluded that fakes aside, even the company is selling substandard helmets in India by displaying fake ratings. So, I think it's better to stay away from LS2 in India.

I ordered the LS2 FF352 from flipkart. Laxmi automobiles sent it from Pune. The size is L, it's a bit tight. It's for my brother, he says that it's between exact fitting and tight.
            Will it loosen with time?
I called the dealer laxmi automobiles, Pune. They said to press the foam a bit and that it will fit properly after using for a day or two.

I have the option to return it in the next 10 days for a full refund.
The quality of the helmet is good.

            What to do?

Usually, like tires, brakes, engine etc; cheek pads inside the helmet need bedding in as well. Happens over a week if worn on a daily basis. I got a SOL only for my highway rides, but within 20 km, my head used to start paining along the ear and temple area on the forehead.

I consulted Dr Google and he said it is normal. It takes some time to bed in.
Hence, I decided to bed the cheek pads by wearing it to office for a week and the issue went away.

But, the loosening doesn't happen by a huge margin. If the helmet is too tight; then you should prolly get a larger size. If it's snug fit; then it is ok.
              Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I got curious after reading this thread, how do we identify the so called substandard LS2 helmets?
I was on a tour to Nepal in 2013, and bought one LS2 phobia on an impulse from Kathmandu. The inner head lining had a long tag in Portuguese language and "made in brazil" in Portuguese as well. It was manufactured in 2012. Since buying, I have checked it from every angle, like hardness & thickness of the foam, outer shell strength etc. It doesn't appear fake at all, and it's definitely not a chinese model. It also doesn't have any ECE or DOT rating sticker.

Please don't mock me for buying from Nepal, I had little knowledge about LS2 at that time. Any idea whether it's substandard or not?

Definitely not buying a LS2 next time.

If the helmet is strong and serving you well, why wait for heart burn? Enjoy it till it's life span!
Original LS2 helmets are ECE/DOT approved with the same mentioned on the chin strap. You can then refer to SHARP website and verify if the ratings for your model match.

write a mail to LS2 and ask them.

its a very common business practice, a lot of companies manufacture different quality products for different markets (countries) and these are manufactured at different locations (countries) to suit there logistics.

for example car manufacturers, a lot of cars sold in india and manufactured by non-indian companies are sold in different countries with different specs, different engines etc.

so may be your helmet is manufactured in brazil, and may be its target market (country) needs cheaper products (cheaper than india) hence they produced a non-ECE certified helmet. the company has not cheated you, it was the importer who imported a substandard product to earn huge profit.

if the company had put an ECE sticker on an non-ECE helmet, then it was cheating by company. this is not the case.

so plz dont blame the company. importer and seller fooled you and you became victim because of your ignorance.

i am not a spokesperson for any helmet manufacturer, nor i am indifferent to your feelings, but customer awareness is also important.

atleast LS2 is better than other companies, who sell different products with different brand names in different countries and still claim a lot of things.

you wanted an good looking helmet, you got one, you never wanted an ECE certified helmet so you didn't get an ECE certified one.

btw, some motogp riders (yonny hernandez and lorris baz) also wear LS2 helmets as well as issac vinales in moto3, and also some riders in MX and enduro world championships, so LS2 have the technology and production capability, of a very good standard and they they have got a brand name and brand image to protect, so as a company, they will not cheat you. it is the importer and seller who cheats and ignorant customers help them.

Only thing I wanted to point out was since months the LS2 helmets are out of stock on Acebiker.com this is really a shame when we are considering them authorised resellers of LS2. every helmet although seen on sale is OUT of stock.

I got mine from ebay The riders den shop (theridersden2012) based in Pune. The helmet seems original and has good performance. so far I have checked that the riders den gets good variety in LS2 and it sells off also quickly from his e shop.

Now, I don't mind the missing front mudguard, but where is the front number plate? It's illegal riding/driving any vehicle without displaying the registration number at front/back/both.
