yes i have tried them on LCD panels ... but not on the bikes ... i did it on my Pioneer CDJ 700s - they had this annoying orange light at the back / i looked for the Electroluminescent Panel / did not getone so tried LEDs ... it worked but the light spread was not even ... so tried the small neons ... it worked well ... n each 0f these sets only consume 5 w ... so replaces over 6 lights under on lcd ... with one tube ... n as these are cold light source ... no heating issues ...Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostWhoa man! Neon for back lighting? Have you actually tried it out? These displays use simple LEDs. Just replacing them would change the back lighting colour.

If iam not wrong we use LED displays and not LCD dispalys. Read somewhere in the bikes service manual i guess.
@ abhijeet
Is the job that simple that the meter can be opened at home and the new LED can be soldered then and there itself?Biking is not my Passion, it is my Religion!

Thanks for sharing the info.Originally posted by brokenbinil View Postyes i have tried them on LCD panels ... but not on the bikes ... i did it on my Pioneer CDJ 700s - they had this annoying orange light at the back / i looked for the Electroluminescent Panel / did not getone so tried LEDs ... it worked but the light spread was not even ... so tried the small neons ... it worked well ... n each 0f these sets only consume 5 w ... so replaces over 6 lights under on lcd ... with one tube ... n as these are cold light source ... no heating issues ...
How much does it cost?
These displays are Monochrome LCDs with LED backlighting!Originally posted by rahul9985 View PostIf iam not wrong we use LED displays and not LCD dispalys. Read somewhere in the bikes service manual i guess.

It is theoretically as simple as that. But the LCD may need to be removed to change the LEDs. If the system allows this, its easy. (Some systems use glue to connect the wire to the LCD and those can not be removed and connected back.) Open you one up and see how it is! And, the LEDs used are SMD versions. (Like the ones found in mobile phones).Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Ho!!! because of my bad soldering skills, LED bulbs are coming off often. Damn!!

congrats abhijeet nice job done...
i was going through the thread. i have a doubt. Doesnt the led light go off as soon as u switch off the lights?
During braking as soon as you leave the brake, the led doesnt get off or does it take some time to get off?

or is this normal

Abhijeet why you used capacitor in a LED circuit.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostActually depends on the LEDs and caps used. It can occur anywhere. But It is a problem only in case of brake light.
And if the brake light is on DC from the battery without any caps, it will not occur.
AFAIK, Capacitor blocks DC and allows AC to pass through.

Caps in series with source will block DC and allow AC. Caps in parallel will short ckt AC and allow DC to pass through!Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostAbhijeet why you used capacitor in a LED circuit.

In simple terms, it smooths AC signals.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

I think it should be smooths DC signals.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostCaps in series with source will block DC and allow AC. Caps in parallel will short ckt AC and allow DC to pass through!

IMO. the actual word is "Pulsed DC". Ideal DC is already smooth without any ripples!
Exactly. Pulsed or Pulsating DC. Is a capacitor filter enough to smoothen all the ripples? Isnt "Pi" filter the best one?
