    Yeah, in case of brake light which is DC, you don't need diode and caps. Just resistors are enough. Refer to my diag in the 1st page.

    Yeah.. Capacitors and inductors and their combinations are used as filters in electronic circuits to block AC signal (by shorting it) and allow DC signal.

    I would say a "Pi" filter is an overkill. Anyways, my LEDs never flickered with the cap! Why add an inductor to the mix, when a cap does the job satisfactorily.

    Exactly. Pulsed or Pulsating DC. Is a capacitor filter enough to smoothen all the ripples? Isnt "Pi" filter the best one?

    Abhijeet why you used capacitor in a LED circuit.
    AFAIK, Capacitor blocks DC and allows AC to pass through.
