Wudnt say it's a problem, own a ninja the X-winds effects are minimal. They are minimal to the extends where it wont even be a issue.(Talking abt open roads, barren lands and also lorries overtaking).cant comment on ZMR and R15.Originally posted by Sachinnair View PostFull faired bike like ZMR R15 Ninja face problems in cross winds.Would nt have said this if not experienced. You need to drive at steady speed to maintan balance.Thats a fact to cut cross winds..RINGADINGDOO!!!!

Had a fall
Hi friends, I regret to inform you that I had a fall from my ZMR 2 weeks back. I was coming back from a nice 200 km trip to Tamhini ghats, near Pune. I cannot recall what happened. It happened in a fraction of a second. I was probably at 60-70. I think I panic braked, pressed hard on both front and rear. The bike skidded and crashed on the right side. I sustained injuries on right forearm, both hands, both knees. Luckily nothing major, no fractures. All my wounds have healed now & new skin is growing! Left thumb had a swelling and was not able to flex it. Its recovered almost completely now.
I guess all the forum talk about top speeds/power/acceleration and this that, got to my head. I used to think I am a good rider, never dropped a bike. My morale was shaken after the fall, I am slowly regaining confidence now. I am worried about whether I am using the front and rear disc brakes correctly or not. I read the article on Braking, its very informative.
After I got up from the fall, I thought my bike was totalled. But to my surprise - very few scratches on upper cowl, mirror, more significant scratches on silencer cover. A clip/screw thingy inside the upper cowl has broken. Handle is slightly titled to the right while riding, but no visible damages to the handle. Right indicator has become loose but light works fine.
Hardly any damage to the bike, considering that it fell at a good speed. The body cowls are stronger than we would like to think they are. Did my 2nd servicing yesterday. Have ordered for replacement of following parts and will claim insurance -
Right upper body cowl
Right mirror
Right indicator assembly
Right handle
Front brake lever
Silencer cover
Most important part of my post, the message I want to convey -> I wasn't wearing proper gears. I was wearing a very good helmet (Cross). I was wearing a raincoat (lower & upper). But no gloves. Now I realize that gloves are critical and we should wear even in city rides. A good jacket is also very important. If we are touring, should also wear knee protectors.
I thank God that nothing serious happened to me. I am a more cautious and aware rider now. And I realize the importance of wearing good body protection.Last edited by rohitsapru; 08-23-2010, 06:04 PM.

@111diablo111: its the same story for all of us. And its great to hear that you have not got any major probs. So try to get the necessary gears if you re a seasoned tourer. When you go for gloves, try to get gloves with leather inside. And I think, dont buy knee guards. Go for riding jacket and lower in a set... You can have better protection and no need to tie the guard every time. And you can wear the riding lower without jeans..hehe...
I am also waiting for spares after an unlucky incident. Hope i will get it on saturday.started riding a motorized cycle on a chetak classic.
Learned to accelerate on Y RX100&135.
Learned not to fall down, the patience to heal wound on knee and to ride long on a classic Pulsar 150(still running)&180.....
Planning for more dream destinations on a new ZMR
