I would urge and Need help from "The exisiting owners" to give us some guidelines, checklist and some do's & dont's while taking delivery. Some checklist and guidelines during the servicings separately like on 1st, 2nd and so on. and others like some basic queries.. from users too can also be a part of this.

I have also booked the ZMR and i am getting worried. Don't know what I have to undergo in the road ahead. This would be of great help to me and people like me if you all can contribute in this.

the first advice from my side is that take the delivery of the bike as soon as it reaches the showroom....dont bother about any specific dates.......else u will be at loss as the showroom ppl can do any tampering with ur bike.

while taking delivery, check that there is no scratch on any body part, any crack etc.....check functioning of lights, horns. make them start the bike before delivery and see that engine is not giving any abnormal sounds or smell.

if anything is suspicious, and ur not satisfied then reject the delivery and see a new piece.

also one thing i would share with u ppl, many times showroom sell the test ride vehicle after tampering with their odometer, so be carefull/ never buy a bike if the salesman puts pressure on a specific color/bike.

and during first service, make sure the svc ppl change the engine oil in front of yourself, [when i gave my bike for first service, the svc didn't fill the engine oil completely]

and dont "GIVE UR BIKE TO UR INEXPERIENCED FRIENDS".

Keep it at around 4K RPM in all gears, including top. I did the same for the 1st 1000kms.on my R15. Mine does 60kmph in 6th gear at 4K RPM. I expect the ZMR also to do approximately the same.
For the next 1000kms.I kept gearshifts max upto 4.5K RPM, but took her slowly upto 7K RPM (100kmph) in top gear.
                    After that don't ask me...

I am adding feedbacks into the same post in different colour.

What are the documents expected from Dealer ?
                          1) First and foremost you will recieve the bill(invoice of the vehicle with all details mentioned on it.
                          2) You will get the owner's manual (This is very important, it will mention all the thing you need to do while taking a delivery like check oil levels, check scratches, electricals, shock absorbers, etc etc,). Read this manual for things to check before taking delivery and then only take the delivery). Also make sure that all the details of free servicings etc are filled in this book.
                          3) Battery Warranty card, this will be given to you during delivery, keep it safely.
                          4) HH people have started giving a GoodLife membership card, you need to fill a small form a give it to them, a copy of that will be with you. It has some nice advantages, ask them for details.

What are the documents expected from RTO ?
1)You will get an Import bill, certificate of taxation and registration reciept.
                          2) Your RC card(smart card) will take 45 days to come, you can ride the bike with that for a max period of 90 days.

What are the documents expected from insurance ?
You will get a xerox of the insurance copy, but insist on the original copy of insurance asap.

Do we get any user / operational / service manual of ZMR along with the bike ? Do we get it separately?
Its called owner's manual, like i mentioned earlier
Which petrol should be used : Regular / Premium ?
Use the best petrol available in your city
Restriction of Speed and for how many kms ?
                          1) In the initial Run In period, dont ride the bike for long times (e.g. 30 mins or more). If you have to then let your bike relax for sometime after 30 mins.
                          2) Avoid riding on low gears or in traffic for long times.
                          3) initial 1000 kms speed to be mainted is 60 kmph as mentioned in the manual. people say different things about it. Stick to the manual, it will increase the life of ur engine

Restriction of rpm and for how many kms ? Max 4K RPM for First 1K kms, Max 4.5K for next 1K Kms, can stretch to max RPM in top gear
Sounds good but stick to it...because once you are on the bike...its difficult to control
Maximum rpm & speed for individual gear ? For regular use after restrictions are removed
For everyday riding,4-5 is a very comfortable zone, for touring u can stretch to 5-6
Washing bike with plain water everyday is it recommended? (This would be done by a washing guy and not me so... )
1)DONT LET THE WASHING GUY TOUCH YOU BIKE. The use dirty cloths, ditry water, etc... Use a bike cover to save it from everyday dust, Use a soft clean cloth to vipe off the mud... if some stains(or bird poop) use a moist cloth to remove that.
                          2) Wash it every 15 days-1 month, but remember DONT LEAVE YOU BIKE WET, dry it off, mud and wetness may lead to rusting.
Polishing it Fort-nightly ( wax polish ), is it recommended ? ( this I will be doing it )
Yes, its upto you. Polising surely makes the bike shine and you would love that
What is the checklist for servicing and when it should be done ?
A details check list in mentioned in the owner's manual, be present in the workshop when servicing is happening, because they skip a lot of things, make sure they do each and everything that is mentioned in the manual

                          Do's
                          1. Take Delivery as soon as the bike reaches the showroom
Yes, but you wont be able to ride the bike as it would have a temporary showroom number, your permanant number takes max 2 days after registration.
                          2. Check for Scratches & cracks during delivery
                          YES
                          3. Check functioning of all the electricals : Horn, lights, Digital display during delivery
                          As mentioned in the manual
                          4. Check for abnormal sound or smell during delivery
                          5. Take a small test drive before completing the delivery procedure and check all functions like gear shifts, electricals.

                          Dont's
                          1. Never buy a bike, if salesmen puts pressure on specific colour / bike
Dunno dont have any comments on this
                          2. Avoid handing by inexperienced / unfamiliar person
HELL YA!!! Dont let any1 like that even wander around your bike.

Suggestions / care to be taken for newbie ??
Love your bike like you love yourself. Care for it initially and it will care for you lifelong
                          Guidelines during Servicing :
                          1. Try to present / insist your presence while changing the Oil during SVCing
Not just during oil change, be there for everything.
Thanks to anmol_1990, saminder, sarvajit for your inputs.

For ZMR, 3-3.5k for the initial 300-400 km and 4-4.5k for the later 500 km would be better.

                            • I recollect riding Mohsins ZMR for a couple of days...For the initial 500 kms, in 5th gear, the bike would do 60 at 3.5k rpm and you wouldnt want to rev her more than that as it used to get very vibey. Later as of now it feels so much less stressed. I think yep the engine eases up a lil bit after having crossed 500kms and even better after 1000kms.

But yes, keep it under 60 till 1500 kms atleast to get the max out of the bike.

                              • Neo: for all your answers go through this thread once again from start. We have answers for every query you posted.

Still, once again, keep this in mind..

Since the ZMR is a big bike, do the p.d.i yourself.. look in depth for scratches, check the nutbolts, everything across the bike.

Secondly, you dont need to wash it daily, just keep it well covered and clean it with a soft cloth if reqd. This totally depends on the place you are parking it daily, your use etc.

Thirdly, as you mentioned rev the max in every gear after 1k kms..i would say no. You wont want to rev that much as the engine just opens up by then. It will be vibrations from all around. Just keep it under 4k rpm and use all the gears. If you run-in till 2000 kms it will be better. So, keep it under 4k rpm till 1.5-2000 kms and things will be great then.

Enjoy your ride, and ride safe. Which color you going for??
