Hm.. hearing this for first time...I think the oil thrown by the chain will prevent it from rusting...Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostWhile at the SVC for service, the mech asked me if I would want to paint the inside of the chain cover, as otherwise it will rust off.

i hadn't painted mine yet and it didn't started rusting yet.
my bike is five years old.

Sooraj, The chain cover is coated and not painted by HH, as aneesh pointed out the inside surface is prone to oil spillage and it will not rust. Tell svc guy that you will replace the guard if it gets rusted...no need to paint.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostWhile at the SVC for service, the mech asked me if I would want to paint the inside of the chain cover, as otherwise it will rust off.

Very difficult to generalize...Once my ambition had some pulling problem @18K, one svc station suggested that clutch plates are gone .... I went to another he said that on Ambition clutch plates last more than 50K..that was few years back...but there is serious setback as all new HH svc stations are franchisee kind of set up they have monthly profit target, some are resorting to set even spares sales as target which is dangerous, b'cos mechanics will tend to change good parts and hence put a hole in customers' pocket.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostHH Svc guys are always funny, right guys?
Just a month ago I was suggested chain change by three mechanics at one large svc station, my achiever has done just 16K. So I went straight to HH regional office and complained how a chain can get worn so fast, he inspected my bike and showed arrow marks that indicate replacement time, he said the chain can easily last another 20-25K kms.
Thing is I believed that chain is gone as three different mechanics told me, so I trusted them, this means sales of spares in that svc station has some target, so all mechanics are resorting to gimmicks and dishonesty.

One day my speedometer started working abnormal so visited svc,They told m that the sensor is gone and will cost me 3000 for new one.As my pocket was empty,i waited for money,Went to svc for another work ,at that time they removed the front fairings and refitted it,But luckily after that my speedometer is working fine.
No one knows what's wrong and what to do.
I usually visits SVC to order parts and get it fitted with my local mechanic. That's better ,because otherwise i have to spend a whole day there just for a few minute jobs...

For the last service, when I dropped my bike @ 9 AM, that place was crowded like crazy and the mech told my bike will be ready by 5 PM only. Seeing the crowd, I believed it.
In the evening, when I came back @ 4 pm, all those bikes were gone, except mine, and it was also done. Heck..! I could have easily collected it @ 1 PM. I spent a whole day watching movie, and hanging out in the park with buddies, watching girls..
