Re: Yamaha gladiator SS125 bike problem
AFAIK, the Glady(SS125) is a little inconsistent during rain and after wet wash. During rain, try to keep your bike in the lowest possible gear(like 2nd within 25 kmph, 3rd within 45 kmph). And if it rains, water will obviously be reaching to all parts but please do not pour/splash water on a warm/hot engine or any other hot parts of your bike. It may damage the engine.Originally posted by nsreepathy View PostHi,
I am facing a strange problem in my yamaha ss125 gladiator model. In normal sunny days bike did not give any problems going fine.
When in rainy times, My bike starts and runs for sometimes (not more than 5 mins) and stalls after that like no petrol or no spark. If we use choke it starts immediately and when revving it is turning off ( turning off like a manual ignition switch off while running). After waiting and trying in 5 to 10 mins it again starts and no issues.
Tests i have done are, I just rode my bike for 10 mins, without switching off i poured water all over the bike but it doesn't stalls. when it is turing off i checked abt water in plug cable, carburetor and other parts and failed to found nothing. Guys help me on this.
How much km.s have your bike clocked? If it's more than 10K, change the air filter.
Hope this helps you!A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

The symptoms suggests that moisture is entering in your bike's engine and hence it stops, check the air filter side.

Re: Yamaha gladiator SS125 bike problem
HI thanks for the reply. My bike crossed 36K kms. Air filter replaced before 3K kms- paper air filter. i did not face any problem previously, i have rode my bike in heavy rains too with out any drop in performance. Also which air filter is less prone to humidity? paper or foam type?

Re: Yamaha gladiator SS125 bike problem
Hmm, just try to remember that from when this problem has started, what have you done last time after which you are facing this problem, did you get your bike serviced or pressure washed it, any leakage from carb side, both of the filters can catch moisture it's not that foam filters are bad or paper filter are good.Becuase if you are facing this problem in rainy season only than most of the time the problem lies in moisture or water droplets entering the engine with fuel.Last edited by kusmaker; 06-09-2014, 07:55 PM.

Go to the SVC and explain them your problem in detail. Your problem might need thorough inspection.Originally posted by nsreepathy View PostHI thanks for the reply. My bike crossed 36K kms. krishna77: Thanks for your reply. I checked with a local mechanic. He says that 10W/ 20w should not be a problem. Will ask someone else before going for it. ThanksOriginally posted by krishna77 View PostHi Amit, almost all the Gladiator/SS125 riders are happy like you.
Yes, you can surely change the lights but the stock battery is not powerful enough to contain say LED/Projector lights. You need to initiate a full DC conversion and replacement of the stock battery to a more powerful one first.
Check out with a good bike mechanic with considerable electrical knowledge in your locality. No Left, No Right...It's a SIMPLE BOTH HAND DRIVE

Re: Yamaha Gladiator(All)
Correction man, engine oil grade for ss125 or gladiator is 20W40, you can upgrade to 20W50 with no problem whatsoever.

I think he was trying to mention about electricals - not engine oils.Originally posted by kusmaker View PostCorrection man, engine oil grade for ss125 or gladiator is 20W40, you can upgrade to 20W50 with no problem whatsoever.

Dear friends.
Today while returning frm office i noticed that my fuel indicator was below end level altough there was enough petrol in the tank. What could b the reason. Can somebody shed light on the same. Is there any thing to b checked. Alo i am getting some strange sound from beneath near the engine when on rough patches. Some noise as if some portion is dangling below. Pks help.
Image of fuel indicator for your reference.

Re: Yamaha Gladiator(All)
Hi Gladiator owners, I've a small doubt.
I have a SS125(Nov-2012) which has clocked 16K km.s till date. Bike is running fine and smooth. But, on the last two servicings, I was told by the SVC mechanics that the change sprocket needs to be changed. I sought opinions from friends who own Gladiators. As per them, 16K is too early to change the sprockets. BTW I had made it it a point to clean+lube the chain on each servicing, I myself lube the chains twice a month. Thing is I trust my friends and at the same time can't ignore the viewpoint of the SVC(Factory Outlet, Kestopur, Kolkata) mechanics who are very helpful and has never made me get burdened with unnecessary charges/changes.
Please help me with a solution as I am in a dilemma.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
