Hmmm... Yup take it for a service... Tel them to check the handlebar and forks... Usually its because of one of these two that the bike starts pullin to one side as far as i know... It shouldn be a big prob... And about the battery... tel them to also check your rectifier or regulator... At times what happens is the rectifier does not cut out the charging current once your battery is fully charged and thus busts your battery...

in for service
guys my glady is in for service.
mech says -
-RR unit needs replacement
-battery needs charge
-instructed them for Yamalube new oil.
-bike pulling to right side and wobbling in front is due to tyre problem.A patch was placed by the local puncture wala when I had a puncture sometime ago.
no probs with the fork and all.
estimate Rs 1000 +

One more issue that I did not notice so far is that all the Yamaha Logos in the bike are gone.the one is front visor, tank scoops all gone.

out of service
got the bike.
as expected, top class condition now...good pick up, gpd speed, good braking, overall smoothness etc..etc..whatever you can expect after a service..
RR unit which I suppose charges the battery (please correct me) has been replaced.
New Yamalube for FZ, Gladi is Mineral Oil..I have put it..
please tell how to gauge the performance of engine oil..like how will I feel different by using this mineral oil..or is it a long term gain kind of advantage?
total bill - Rs 1200.

..RR unit is the culprit, oil too is a bit costly compared to the usual..
small wobbling due to patch in front tyre still there...
planning to change tyres for a long time now...
bikes great though..feels really nice to ride..

Mineral oils are only good till you have cloked some 2000-2500kms after that semi-senthetic is preferred. You can ask anyone, almost everyone upgrades to a semi-senthetic oil.And from then onwards you can continue with it,though after 10k kms u can upgrade to fully senthetic engine oil also which further smoothen outs you engine. If you have cloked 2500kms or 3000kms i would suggest not to go for mineral oil.Though u can confirm it with other more experienced members in xbhp as your is a 125cc,though i still think that it works the same.Originally posted by DASCO View Postgot the bike.

^^^Relax!!! Your engine wont blow up! Using correct grade, changing on time and avoiding external contamination are lot more important.
Its v difficult for ordinary end users to gauge the quality of engine oil. Just make sure its genuine and from reputed co. Other than how your bike 'feels' with a particular oil and for how long, its v difficult to gauge its effectiveness. Don't go by colour and all...

Chill DASCO, Like Racoon said as long as there is no contamination, the grade of the oil is correct, i think for gladiator it is 20W40 and u change your oil at regular correct intervals your bike will be fine...
It is said that semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oils are good for the engine... they last longer etc and many people recommend it... i ve also read that they find the engine being smoother etc... I am going to be trying out one of these synthetic oils for my next service which is going to be in 1500 kms.. I'll let you know how the gladi feels on synthetic oil in comparison to mineral oil...
Cheers,

Cheers,
And aftermarket stuff is in most cases better than manufacturer's oil.
Despite what people say about Power 1,I seem to have found it a lot better than the Yamalube for my Gladiator.
If you can stretch your budget higher, than there's always the Motul 5100 waiting anxiously to iron out all the vibrations in the footpegs.
But the thing I have noticed since I have moved to Motul from Castrol is that top speed is a bit down. 60 takes relatively longer time to happen.

maybe that s because Motul 5100 is of 15W50 grade..Originally posted by nightwing View PostIt is 20W40.

Power1 is a Semi Synth and you will definitely find it to be better than the Yamalube. But try another Semi Synth and compare it to Power1... May I suggest Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40... at the same cost at mineral oils...
Motul 5100 is 15W50 and being a thicker oil it does effect on your pickup... again, why spend so much on Motul for the wrong grade? Stick to Yamalube then.
Motul 5100 is not the correct grade oil for the Gladi. Sprinta 5000 Fully Synthetic is better than Castrol Power1 Racing and costs about half its price... but I guess it is not yet available in Bangalore.Originally posted by prashanth lobo View PostI'll be either trying motul 5100 or petronas sprinta i think it is on my bike if i get the right grade... If i don then ill surely try castrol power 1 fully synthetic oil...
Again, why waste money??? try the Gulf once.
