  • Thanks Dasco for the prompt reply....

---- "and I thought the SS had stock MRF tyres...please confirm from the dealer and I think you have all the rights to demand the stock tyres from the dealer..or did you get it changed???"-----

At the dealer, most SS had the MRF tyres, but mine (only piece in black&red available & one RS) had the dunlop tyres. Dealer offered to replace with the MRF if i so desired but i said ok, let it be... maybe the strike at MRF forced them to use Dunlop... One point noted, that the dunlop zebra at the back has a centre tread... hope this helps me in the rains... also the stock zappers are pretty slippery as per blogs i read... hows the dunlop?

Also pl. help me regarding the disc & shocker noise... can i do something on my own to stop it or wait for the 500 km service...

    • Hey,

The SS comes with stock mrf tyres... I don no how the dunlop behaves... But i must say that they mrfs behave very well on tarmac... Maybe not so good offroad... Even in the rains the tyres are good... The rear zapper c disperses water well... I used to have fishtailing probs before because of bad breaking habits that i had( using the rear break more)... Nowadays the bike stops perfectly on hard breaking...
About the torque wait till you finish your run in.... Then its a different ball game all together... Its a pretty rev happy engine and riding on higher rpms is bliss... Although i do agree it should ve been a lil more tourqey... N if you dont want to wait till the first service to clear the prob of the sounds n stuff do it immediately... Thats wat i do... Any lil sound i see or somethin wierd i feel i go vist a sc immediately so that atleast for me there is a peace of mind when i ride...

Enjoy your bike... Keep us updated...

      • Salem-Yeracaud ride

Guys I visited Salem for official work and that evening rode to Yeracuad..about 26 km form Salem.
Full ghat roads, really beautiful and about 20 hairpins.
        It was a beautiful ride.
I rode a friends Gladiator SS. Great bike but sometimes the lack of low end grunt was a real problem.
But descending on the Gladiator is really scary because it picks up speed so fast, I did shift up while descendig and it really got a bit scary because the speed was just picking up..had to slow down and keep the bike in 4t gear..it was raining also by the way.
        really enjoyed the solo ride.

PS - Did not put in Touring thread as it is hardly a tour. Just a 50 KM ride.

        • Hey DASCO nice pics...

Thinking of doing a ride to Yercaud someday... Looks beautiful... How did you like the ss compared to your gladi DLX?? I mean refinement, cornering n stuff... Itll be easier for you to throw light on how much better the bike has become in different aspects, Or maybe worse too, as you have ridden both bikes

            Well.Good question by the way..
the SS is definately more zippier than my Glady DLX and is actually quicker through the gears..major improvement is the handling..Somehow SS feels lighter and nimbler than my DLX..Gears on both bikes have the same feel..they feel really good basically and easy to shift up or down. The seats of the SS did feel much more comfortable and wider than mine. The overall handle-foot peg-seat combination feels much better on the SS actually,,

            Attaching some more pictures..

            • Oh nice... Surely some improvements i guess... Like your pictures... Especially the first one... The windings roads n the gladi ready to cruise through it...

                • @Balaji FYI: xBhp BLR - Ride to Yercaud/Hoganekkal March 21-22-09 all pictures up

Is this an all Gladi ride? I'm in only if:
YMIS sponsors the ride: Fuel, Service, Riding Gear, support crew et al.

                  Else its preferably:

We do have G2Gs from time to time, although it is not limited to a certain bike make.
                  Let's cook up a full blown G2G.

                  • Gladiator SS Black 2009

My bike is 2 months old and waiting for my second service next month. I maintained 40 kmph speed till 1st service and then 50 kmph till 1000 km. Occasionally raised it to 60 kmph. After 1000 km, i am riding freely. Am i taking care of my bike in a proper way? It is now 1200 in my odo.

                    Regards,
                    Vijay.

                              • hi everybody,
i am pleasently surprised to see this thread for gladiator owners and fans. I also own gladiator RS, which i bought in Jan'09. Previously i had Fazer DX for 3 and 1/2 years. My first two wheeler was Honda Dio, which i used for 4 yrs. It was smooth and reliable. But since i am 6ft. tall, i wanted a proper bike. My requirements were:- well built with big bike feel and broad seat, smooth and linear power delivery, precise clutch and importantly with some attitude. My first choice was Unicorn but since i was within certain budget, i had to settle for 125s. I had no 2nd thougt afer seeing Fazer dx in silver colour and i loved its twin eyed headlamp also.I rode it for 17,500km in 3 and 1/2 yrs and it was quite reliable and never gave me any reason to complain. It was pleasure to ride it on higways at 50-70 km speed with its willing engine and no vibes. It was quite a head turner also. I was very prompt in its service( 18 times in ASC only). and careful in during its run-in period. I was so impressed with it that my next bike was gladiator again. Ofcourse, i had some small negative issues with Fazer that it lacked low end grunt, had only 4 speed, its chain required tightning every thousand kms and service centre was not upto yamaha products standard. I am also impressed with new Gladiator with its 5 speed gear box, racy blue colour, some really good attention to details like foot pegs and solid build quality
