    • @balaji.ep : regarding ur problem with the engine oil leak. Dont get any welding done, as it is a very critical place and the heating due to welding can cause further damage. I have the same problem on my '06 fazer dlx. I have got the oil drain nut sealed with m-seal. This will lead to another of draining engine oil, but you can open the clutch case and drain the engine oil.
This is a better solution than opening of the engine and replacing the engine case.

Please do get the above work done by a expert mechanic.

        • Thread seems dead for sometime now... Anyways... If yall could remember i had started a thread sometime back sayin my bike used to stop during rains... At Yamaha SC they diagnosed it saying i had some water going into the plug cap... So later i took it to CBZ and told them to check the same n they did...Well after fixing that issue when i went in the rain a few days back it stopped again!!! I was really... So then i took my bike back to CBZ today... They worked on it close to two hours to figure out the prob... Very impressed with their effort... They continuously water jetted the bike at different points to check if any of the electricals gave way... Figured out the prob had nothing to do with the electricals on the bike... Rather the air overflow pipe that comes out of the carb was takin in water at outlet... And when that happened the bike would not acclerated and stop....Well that was their diagnosis for the prob... So they removed the pipe... After doing that when they water jetted the bike there was no prob... So jus asking you guys cos m i don no much if that is a valid diagnosis and solution???

After that it started raining and one of the mechs actually took the bike for a long run in the rain-10 kms to be exact... Came back and said it was working fine... Ill only surely for myself when it rains next... Anyways it was good day at CBZ today...

          • ^^^ Good to see someone working hard to find out the real problem. Hope it is solved for good now.

And I guess I can keep some discussions coming in for some time with the below photograph:

            • @HydBiker: Where did you get these from?? Seen that you have put them on all Yamaha Threads... This atleast sounds a bit reasonable as most users( right now not me, i ve been riding hard and mileage is down near the high 40's) claim to get between 51 and 57... So atleast somewhere close to that figure... FZ and R15 mileage claims seem far from true...

Arey da,it's possible. I suppose these mileage figures are for the SS/RS? Because I far as I have heard/seen/read the SS/RS is more fuel efficient than the older Gladiator.
With a bit of more relaxed riding I suppose I can hit that target too on my DLX,but who can be bothered?

                • Ya i know its possible... But it'll be like ridin a bullock cart... Gotta be very soft on the throttle.... I find it very hard to do on my on SS... The bike jus keeps asking to be revved..

Saw them in the Showroom yesterday. It seems they were holding them up since a month but I didn't enter the showroom area for long. They said it is mandatory to display this for all manufacturers' showrooms and that most of them are doing so already. I doubt that and I think it is voluntary.

You can get 46-47 from an R15 and 50 from an FZ if you ride them under 70 KMPH steady. About the Gladiator mileage, 60 KPL is something many people are getting.

People are getting good mileage on the older Gladiators too... They had 78 KMPL card for the Crux .

Oh i dint no that... Cos most of my friends were claiming much lower... But well thats not bad i guess... As mostly city rides in moderate traffic will be steadily between the 40-70KMPH...

^ Simulating rain? I'm mighty pleased with the effort they put.

Thanks HydBiker for the info.Appeared to be an insider scoop from your sources . My Gladi clocks 57 kmpl. seems ok.

                        Cheers!

Not actually simulating rain... But some part was being affected by water because even while going in potholes filled with water the same prob arose... So yeah the water jet helped... Rain simulation was done in actual rain...

                            • 1st paid service

Ok, first paid service was due. By now realization had dawned that the free services at the Authorized SC is a hogwash. Its volume driven , akin to sales. Anger & frustration doubled up 'cos my Gladi never got the works the sS claimed to have done. As an e.g battery electrolyte was at dangerously low levels, when I checked it myself only a year later. sS mech claimed they top up the battery every time. Assuming is the mother of all ****ups, & I don't know the cost.

Considered Banaswadi, Marathahalli CBZ's; & Over to BikeZone -Nimisha Automobiles it was. Mech suggested a Silver service - made sense. The shop floor & works are pretty organized. Tools are classy . Most important, its not a hurried up job unlike the volume driven Ss, & no manhandling, dropping the bike , which is the fate of all bikes at Onion motors, somewhere in Koramangala.

BTW Veedol Super Swift 10W40 went in. Pilot screw was slightly adjusted. Bike revs harder; bit concerned about FE now. Gear shifts are smoother.

                              Cheers!

                              • Oh cool... You went to Nimisha itself??? Who serviced your bike?? Job well done?? N yeah i felt the same way after my initial free services... You immediately feel the difference when you service the bike outside... N one more thing.. Did they let you put in veedol?? I have never asked them about putting engine oils other than castrol thus the question...
