So acc to you pulsar 135 is ahead of gladiator in terms of performance and technology ? Am i right ?

as a matter of fact all bajaj bikes i tested are more torquier than gladi. could not understand why gladi's low end torque is not that good ??

have you tested the top end of gladi with pillion and without pillion, is it in any way better than xcd or a pulsar 150? i am yet to test it, if u did it already pl post ur replies

New tyres look nice and the new ss/rs comes with similar tyres as u said
A bike with ten more CCs and subsequently more power will always be ahead in terms of performance. While the Gladiator tries to be as conventionally correct as possible, the P135 breaks all rules and makes some new ones. Things like 4 valves, digital console,DC electricals et al.
I hope Yamaha incorporates these changes in their next Gladiator,if they decide to upgrade it along with a power increment. The power figures have virtually been unchanged between my Gladiator and the SS/RS.
There's a massive difference between the character of both the bikes, the Gladiator can be mad when you want it to be,but most of the time it's civilized and gentle while cruising and that's how it wants to be ridden. The P135 just wants to be ridden hard. The exhaust note, the grunt, the sharp edges all point to it's aggressive atitude.
I am not a biker who likes to ride fast, have only done in the most dire of circumstances. 98kmph with a pillion and 103 without one.

    • What you think are major differences in character when you compare a JA with a SS/RS. i agree its all only cosmetic upgrade.

i agree that pulsar 135 is powerful and has 4 valves to do justice for the fuel that goes in to gallop ahead of its counterparts, but as i visit mouthshut to see owners comments.. not all are happy.. maybe they expected more from it for a measly 57k.

The way it s built sounds and looks to be ripped, but no one can assure it's longevity?

I am also not a speed freak as well... just wanted to guage gladiator's capability.

atleast in terms of longevity we can rely on gladi than a pulsar.. how much has your JA model clocked?

Mine's the DLX version. The Type John Abraham (JA) was launched,I think,an year after mine in an attempt to revive the dwindling sales. From what I have noticed the SS/RS's front sits lower than the DLX for better aerodynamics. There's the new air filter and sporty handlebars and footpegs.
Mine's done 25k kms. Not much since I have had a lot of bikes under my ownership.

I mentioned a simple way to stop/slow/remove the rusting. Quoting my post here:
The only course of action that I can suggest is to buy the finest sandpaper that you can lay your hands on. Use it to gently scratch away the rust. Use this course of action after you have tried Anti rust sprays and the likes. Also get an old toothbrush and some old engine oil.(save some of the oil when it is drained in your next service).Dip the toothbrush in the oil and rub all the nuts and bolts as much as you can. Also apply it on parts that you think can be rusted.
Also pour a little amount of the engine oil into the exhaust of the bike. Use the brush to apply the oil on the inside of the exhaust as far as it can reach. Start the bike after you have poured the oil and rev it for 2-3 times to make sure the the oil spreads inside the exhaust.
This is to make sure that the exhaust doesn't start rusting.
I dont know how your bike has started rusting so soon.

            • Hey guys,

Long long time since i have posted here. Just joined a new college for post graduation and was a little busy getting used to the new atmosphere and work load. No real updates on my bike. Other than that i had to change my tire...

My tire had a two inch cut through it. I don't now how it happened though.

I am using Dunlop Monster now 100/90 tire. Wanted an on/off road tire. With regards to putting a 100/90 tire i have not felt any drastic decrease in acceleration or top speed. Although Dunlop Monster is said to be heavier than most other tires in this size.

The cornering ability has reduced slightly not so much as to term it an inconvenience. So overall i'm happy with the tire.

Btw, I don't think the gladiator can take a bigger tire than 100/90 without modifications. The tire just about fits.

              • Hey People

                Hi Everyone,

Its been more than 4 months I am signing in to xBhp. Joined new job and hectic work, no XBhp at Office .

Have you guys check out new SS125, new Avatar of Gladiator. Its Type SS/RS in new clothes that it. But looks nice with new graphics.

By the way, I was planning to change my ride. But thinking to wait for some more time as FZ250 gonna come to india on October itseems. I was expecting Fazer 250. But they'v given Fazer 150 which was a big disappointment. So lets wait and see whats Yamaha gonna do this time.

                Happy riding.

                • Hi guys, how have you all been doing
Nice to see the buzz on this thread, after my last post on pg 38.

Two years have gone by with my Gladi, 13000 K on the odo. So far, so good. Not much to brag about, no mega tours, 2 minor crashes, & 3 speeding tickets by the notorious Interceptor. The interceptor can gauge speeds of vehicles 1 km far.

FE has varied from 48 to 58 kmpl, much of it owing to gear shifting patterns - rpms, riding speeds & gas stations where I've been filling.
Engine oil: Veedol Super sprint, so far. a VFM oil.

Brake light switches have gone kaput long ago. I'm now noticing rusting on the chain links. Its more essential to keep it well lubed in the monsoons.

                  Questions:
Do you reccommend flushing the engine before changing to a synth-semisynth oil?
If yes, was it the 3M engine flushing compound?

@Prashanth, how have you been doing
Where can I pick a semi synth/synth Petronas/Agip. Please help

Did the Bikezone guys open up your engine, for that de-carbonising??? scraping carbon from the piston, engine internals?

                  Cheers!

                    Look who's back.
And as regards your question, you dont need to flush the engine before changing to Semi or Fully Synthetic oil. Unless you poured in a completely wrong type of oil,GTX for example,or have excessive sludge formation,it's not recommended. It's an overkill for most cases.

somewhere I had read that the engine flush would harm the engine & hence as nightwing said i would not recommend the engine flush.

Im doin good. Even i wouldn recommend flushing the engine. Not necessary. You can pick up Agip for sure at Orion Motors or Agip Bike tech on JC road. Petronas you will have to look around. But i guess you should be able to find that to in JC road.

No they haven't done any de carbonising to my engine. I guess they do that only after 30k kms or more.

Btw, I forgot to mention. My bike completed 2 years on the 16th of this month.

                          • Glady rear tyre | performance upgrades

                            Hello folks,

I want to replace my bike's rear tyre (treads have got lost and its almost bald!!) with a wider one and seek inputs from you.

The stock rear tyre is 3.00 - 18. How do we get to know the width and profile (tyre side height) from this info? What does 3 signify here?

Can I fit in a 100/90 -18 Zapper on to the rear? Will it affect the performance/ handling/ mileage?

I am also interested in some performance mod. Please give your inputs regarding upjetting the carb, installing K&N filters, etc. And which service centre would be good for this?

                            My bike details:
                            DLX, bought July/2006
                            Kms run: 14,500

                            Responses would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to responses.

Yes u can fit a 100/90 zapper... I have fitted a 100/90 dunlop monster... Mine is a SS model but im pretty sure that the DLX can also easily accommodate a bigger tire... The performance, handling and mileage will be affected marginally...

About performance mods... If you are looking for any drastic changes in performance then fitting a K&N wont help... at the most sound will change and u will get better throttle response... If u want real performance boosts try more along the lines of Free flow exhausts etc... It will give u noticeable increase in performance..

Places good with performance upgrades that i know of are only DTW or Down town works, Shanthinagar... N Joel can also help u with performance mods

Could you share with us some good and bad experiences faced with your gladiator.

Why you chose to purchase tis model when you had other bikes as well, have you taken to long rides, did you face any sort of problems en route in the vehicle?

How much have you clocked in your odometer, how long do you intend to use the machine etc.

                                thanks in advance

hey thanks for posting your rear tire's pic
