  • Got my second service done at 1400kms, bike feels nice n warm ...Chennai being a coastal makes the vehicle prone to rusting in the sense, i opened the left side battery compartment cover to witness the metal thing that is attached to the key in order to hold it with the bike is rusted and also in the frame near to the serial number area there was a small brownish opening of rust which looked odd man out in the black background paint color of the frame... i m scared about monsoon and am using ample amounts of WD-40 to cover up all these defects to extend their lives..

Ride is good...and have touched up to 70kph till now..now that the second service is done can i slowly open the throttle..

i got the seat mesh installed and it looks cool (acc. to my taste)..

madhav how much you achieved max in your speedo til now ? with and without pillion

i have achieved a max speed of 100kmph without pillion & without ANY problem & with pillion i never do any such attempts of high speed because i dont want to risk any other person's life. The bike had pulled till 100kmph without any complaints & the road was not enough long to go further than that speed.

first of all the problem is in a way related to the bike only & the second is that i had posted this on xbhp because i didnt want to argue with the SC guys & then stand like a fool. There are a lot of xbhp guys who might have encountered this kind of problem & i wanted to know what they did in this kind of situation.

              • Hi, there is a way to deal with this suppose you are gona to make a paid service then it will cost you oil change (245), chain cleaning (110) and Service charges approx(200) and Service tax (In SC) then the total is around (Rs.600+) then in my case I talked with SC guy to adjust this issue with some excuses or deal then he suggested that it can be done through a simple procedure and that would be in stepped by that SC guy all he need to do is to send a mail to yamaha for not giving your Service Slip or late transmission because it was missing somewhere in the SC so now they are delivering it.. In my case it cost me 100 bugs to fix this because in some of the cases like piston leakage like serious issues if Service lapes the Company never provide warranty on this.. so try this..

1.Does the bike show any vibes/wobble at 70s in highway----Not at all even at 90...the best quality in Yamaha...but some time upon heatup(after riding 60Km in traffic..) tippets(may be) gets noisy..
2.How are the tyres? its too thin, does it really have good trip? can we ride safely during rainy days, cornering etc---
tyres are really a headache in rainy seasons but with MRF new Zapper series it turns like sports bike means it cost me 2000 for a rear tyre but now grip is superb even at small stones (bajri..) with a small decrease in Mileage now it is giving 45-50 approx..
                  3.whts the mileage?
----around 50-60 with driving like we are learning but after using its full power it decreases to 45-50...

IIRC R15 & Galidator uses 17 & 18 inch wheels respectively, the OE wheels in the Galdi cant be fitted with R15 tyre.

                      • Update on my Zappers. At first they didnt feel much different from the stock Dunlops but as time passed I can notice the improvements. Loose gravel which used to make the bike start dancing immediately is now dealt with easily. The new tyres coped up well when I was forced to ride over 7-8 feet of loose gravel on the road. I had thought for sure that the bike would give away and I would be run over by the traffic coming up from behind.
In the wet, there's no drama at all. I remember when once I braked hard in the wet, with the old tyres, the front stopped and the rear wheels made the bike do a 90 degree turn in coming to a halt. With the new tyres the bike feels composed if braked sanely.
                        All in all,money well spent.

Could you share with us a picture of your rear tyre and how much you have clocked in your odometer.

What is your take on the newly launched pulsar 135 ..??

As Prashanth pointed out earlier,my tyres are the same ones that come equipped with the new Gladiator SS/RS. Zapper FS and Q. The older Gladiator came with Dunlops which was widely criticized. I guess the 35 or more features that the SS/RS boast include these tyres as well. I am happy with the switch and recommend the owners of the older Gladiators to switch as well. I have done 25 thousand kms.

Regarding the P135,its a good leap forward for Bajaj. The throttle response is crisp and ample power is available at all times irrespective of the gears.Since the bike is shorter and smaller than the Gladiator hence it's quite easy to carve your way through traffic much keeping with it's hooligan image. However time will tell how good and reliable it will be in the long run. I dont want it to die altogether just like XCD did. It was too much fun for a small bike that I had since a long while.

                            • Tappet setting / Valve clearance values

Hi Guys , been long since I been on the forum, seems like there has been a lot of activity (or may be I was away for too long )

Does anyone know what is the right valve clearance values, it seems like it is set wrong on my bike. I had it adjusted at an authorized Yamaha service center a few months back thinking that they would know better, having miss firing since then (the hissing sound from silencer ) when ever the throttle is suddenly closed after revving .
I was not so worried about this until I read somewhere that this could damage the valve. There does not seem to be any problem while revving the bike, it only happens when you close the throttle after revving.

                              • Hi Night, Thanks for posting the pic promptly, bike looks in pristine condition.. touch wood.

So acc to you pulsar 135 is ahead of gladiator in terms of performance and technology ? Am i right ?

as a matter of fact all bajaj bikes i tested are more torquier than gladi. could not understand why gladi's low end torque is not that good ??

have you tested the top end of gladi with pillion and without pillion, is it in any way better than xcd or a pulsar 150? i am yet to test it, if u did it already pl post ur replies

New tyres look nice and the new ss/rs comes with similar tyres as u said
