Actually in conventional indian bikes we use 2 valve engine which means there are two ports on the engine cylinder or i would say 2 holes. One hole(port) is for the fuel to enter the engine cylinder & the other hole is for the exhaust gases to go out after burning. In a 4 valve engine there are 4 holes over the engine cylinder 2 for the fuel to enter & 2 for the exhaust gases to go out. Due to the 4 holes instead of 2 the engine can now take in more fuel efficiently(more fuel=more power) & can evacuate the exhaust gases faster & easily. Due to the 4 valve the engine can do the combustion faster & efficiently. So a 4 valve engine can be revved to much higher rpm which is not possible on 2 valve bikes. The pulling power(torque) also increases due to this system.
Well wouldn't the average drop drastically. The new Pulsar 135 has 4 valves. BTW the gladdy really looks good I'm looking foward to trying it.
I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

actually the bike's engine capacity limits the amount of fuel being drawing in & this system does not increase the amount of fuel intake by a large margin. So the average wouldnt drop to much & this system increases the breathing of the engine due to which it goes to a very high rpm & hence develop more power.

Ohh....Well I'm gonna use the bike mostly in the city to travel to my college but 70% of the road is on the highway lol so I shouldn't have a problem.

you will not at all have any problem. Bcoz the gladiator's power is on higher rpm so highways are the best for this bike. It's performance is very good on long rides due to it's comfortable riding posture & smooth engine.

          • The Spec says there is no change from the previous versions as the website sports the same detail as before... Looks like a cosmetic make over to the previous one...

I think even the ybr125 outside india is still running with a similar unit without much change in its powerhouse which i feel is tuned for economy riding and occasional power rides...check the link below to access yamaha ybr125 of UK which is similar to a gladiator...

well i didnt found any similarities in the ybr125 & gladiator from any angle.

Atleast the ybr125 in UK has got a Fi. But we dont even have that.

              • Yes that is true, it is just a cosmetic change. One of the reasons I choose this bike over the other 125 cc's is that it had the best look's in the segment, I didn't like the stunner because I thought it was to funky and I heard that it start's making weird noises after reachign the speed of 55-60. I heard the gladdy is comfortable even at 60 and runs very smoothly upto 70. right?

                • @ Horror: The bike pulls smoothly up to 90... How much is the on road price now for the gladi??

P.S: Personally i didn't like the make over much. Now that Yamaha bikes are selling well they seem to be going the HH way

My gladiator was giving around 60kmpl when i tested in city driving conditions where there was frequent braking & clutch usage my bike was returning 60kmpl
yups very true....i have done a strict riding for a month n my gladi gave a whooping 70kmpl....just one month as i was back on ripping again...

If it is 53k in Delhi, then it will be 4 or 5k more in Bangalore. When i got my bike in 2008, the on road price was only 51,200...

you might be interested to know that the karnataka & AP is having a lot more road tax than the delhi & UP. I had once enquired about p150 in mathura which was coming for 60,000 on road & the same bike was around 67,000 in the bangalore.

you got it for a pretty cheap price bro. when i purchased the bike it was having a price tag of around 58,000. It was still cheap when compared to the stunner & a lot other bikes in this segment but costlier than XCD-135. Still i didnt mind paying premium over bajaj for a better quality bike. But i was lucky that one of my colleague whom we knew personally was working as some spares manager & was incharge for the karnataka & AP. So he got me the bike for a 2,000 less price & add to that 1,000 rupees discount voucher provided by the yamaha company. So my bike has got even cheaper at 55,000. So i will never regret buying it because it was the cheapest in the lot(not cheaper than XCD-125 & gladiator graffiti lol).

Well I'm not hundred percent sure that that's excatly the way the bike is going to look. I wastn't much impressed by it either but the ss and rs have stopped being manufactured( I think so, I'm not yet sure) and I don't like the looks of the graffitti either. Well the dealer's gonna call me up and tell me when it has arrived so if I can get pics of it I will. It sounds cool that it can give a whooping average of upto 60, that's really cool. I thought that the main backdraw of the gladdy was it's milage. This is gonna be my first bike so if you guys, any of you would be kind enough to direct me to a site or a thread in our forums itself that would give me the basics of biking and riding and how to maintain my dear bike I would be more than thankfull.
