You can try 5w40 or 10w40 as well, but do not go for xw30 oil. i.e., don't go below 40. Above is fine though, like 15w50.Originally posted by Binoy View PostSorry bro sorry for the wrong info. from me... I changed to AGIP 5w40 fully synthetic.

Above 40 would be slightly too viscous for a 125cc bike. Since recommended grade is 20w40, one can go for 5w40, 10w40, 15w40 or 20w40.Originally posted by Sarvajit View PostYou can try 5w40 or 10w40 as well, but do not go for xw30 oil. i.e., don't go below 40. Above is fine though, like 15w50.

@nightwing
i am planning to use the yamalube semi-synth in my bike?? hav u used it?? if yes wat r ur reviews abt it??
my bike has run only 3900kms & its the 4th service for my bike. Is it ok for me to use the semi-synth oil??
I am asking this question from u especially bcoz i hav somewhere seen in the previous posts tat u hav used it.
PS:- any other person who has used the yamalube semi-synth r also requested to give their reviews abt the oil.Last edited by madhav krishna; 05-06-2010, 11:12 PM.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

The Yamalube Semi-synthetic is in 15W50 grade and as I mentioned earlier looks and feels very similar to Motul 5100. I guess it's a rebadged Motul.Originally posted by madhav krishna View Post@nightwing

Which is good.Someone more knowledgeable can confirm the same. The only problem is obtaining it. I asked for a bottle of the same and the SC guys here were adamant on proving that only R15 can run on this oil. Must have been the last bottle that was left in the showroom. Anyway,it's in my bike now. Difference over the Yamalube Mineral is obvious.
The exhaust beats are more pronounced and consistent.Plus the bike accelerates to 60-70 easily which wasnt the case with the mineral one.
Gearshifts are smoother as well.
Better to go for this then the similarly priced Castrol Power One.sigpic

but u told the grading is 15w50.. wont the oil be little thick for our bike as gladiator uses xxW40??
even as i hav told in my previous post my bike has completed only 3900 kms. Is it ok for me to use the semi-synth??
i dint understand ur last line "Better to go for this then the similarly priced Castrol Power One"
did the oil increase the fuel efficiency of the bike??Last edited by madhav krishna; 05-07-2010, 11:04 PM.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

In simple words,no it wont harm the bike. Although the SC guys would recommend you not to use it. There are warranty issues associated with not using the recommended grade of oil.Originally posted by madhav krishna View Postso shall i go for it??

The oil will be thicker and you could encounter some cold start issues. But once you have warmed up the engine and are on the move,it's much better than the mineral Yamalube. Plus the fuel efficiency increases as well.
Castrol Power One is closely priced with it.Hence I said that the Yamalube Semi synth is a better option between the two.sigpic
