If they stop manufacturing the model with in one year or make major modifications to the engine design then it s a clear evidence that something failed somewhere... i am talking about pulsar 135... time will tell..

This was the case with TVS Flame when they copied DTSi...

But i dont think a major design change has come in between Fazer and Glad type 1 or II. I guess we have a better motor which has more longevity than pulsars.. This is an unbiased opinion of mine...

Look at todays The HINDU Metro supplement.. there is article about rx-100 and Fz 16

I don't get hindu at home... But i'll see if i can get my hand on one... i don think the metro supplement will be the same but ill check anyways...

N i guess you got the reason for the TVS flame not getting dtsi initially wrong... They couldn use it because they were sued by Bajaj... Thats why they had to come up with a single spark engine... Not because of failure of design...

No need to get excited. We have bought Yamaha Gladi for a reason. Doesn't mean that other brands are bad. Bajaj may not as reliable as Yamaha, but the difference is negligible now. Bajaj is almost there.

Moreover Bajaj is excellent value for money. I am thankful to Bajaj for introducing alloys, gas shocks, disc brakes, twin spark, tubeless tyres, auto choke, clip ons, led lights etc - all at very affordable price.

        • ^^^ Well said Rookie... Most of the time because of Bajaj other manufacturers have been pushed to introduce these features in their bikes too....

i wont say that the bajaj is a useless or stupid company. I am accepting that the bajaj is a value for money & has introduced a lot of features at a very affordable price. But from the cases & my few friends reviews it is clear that the bajaj bikes r reliable only for 2-3 years or maximum 4 years & after that the bajaj has got a heck of problems & when u go to the bajaj service center they just say Hum aapke hain kaun. Few years back the bajaj was a very good company when it launched the pulsar dts-i (without LED lights). But these days it has become an unreliable brand because of the cost cutting it makes for making the bikes cheaper. Even the guys at the service center are also not gud at customer satisfaction. I am not even saying that the yamaha serice centre guys r out of this world at the customer satisfaction but they r better than the guys from the bajaj.

Neways at the price of 46,000 (exshowroom) for a 150 cc bike and a mileage of 65kmpl we can expect wat the quality of the bike would be.

            • ^^ I beg to differ with the reliability part Madhav... I mean there are many Pulsars on Xbhp itself who have done more than 50,000 and have been running for more than 5 years... That also without any major problems...

@all: I guess anyways, we should just stop this topic... Turning out to be a Bajaj bashing more or else... Shall we continue discussing our gladiators again

                please read the post again
I hav mentioned that the earlier pulsars without led lights was good & its production was stopped in 2005. the production of pulsar with led was started in 2006 & these models were not reliable. The guys who had completed 5 years are of pulsars without led (check if u dont believe). And like one in a thousand may be a few pulsars might hav been gud (led model).

Neways i also think tat we should stop this topic as this is becoming an online debate abt pulsar.

                      • You all should ask a guy on Orkut's Gladiator community about Ridetech. He says he takes part in it regularly. He also says that he regularly does 120kmph with a pillion and 125 easily while riding single thanks to the magic of Yamaha fully synthetic oil. Ha ha ha.... Prasanth will know who I mean.
Seriously what's the need of buying a 150 if you can do 120 on a Gladiator.

                        • ^^^Haha!!! Yeah i know who you are talking about.... Very funny... Now more and more guys on the orkut community are claiming speeds of more than 115...

                          Anyways,

My back wheel is not moving freely... There is tak tak noise when i turn the tyre... First heard it while riding... It is pretty loud when riding slowly... Is it just some mud or something on the front sprocket or something else??

                            What is the mileage?
the mileage is arnd 60 if rided consciously

How much are the parts cost, comparing to Honda and Hero Honda?
the cost of the parts are equal to honda but expensive than that of hero honda

                            How is the service?
Depends on the service centre or the showroom you prefer

Why I dont see more Gladiators on Mumbai road if this bike is 'too' good?
Cant say about mumbai but there are a pretty gud no. of gladiators in bangalore
                            More to come......

Drive concisely meaning, a particular RPMs with a constant speed? What will be the range of speeds and also the limit of RPMs that needs to be maintained to have max out of bike.
the speed to be maintained is arnd 40-60 kmph & the gear shifts should be made at arnd 4000 rpm
                              check this out
XCD 135 vs. Gladiator vs. Stunner

Its good that the spares of the Yamaha are almost same as Honda ones.

Instead of Mileage or the maintenance, the main thing that put me in more worry is I dont see any owner of Gladi in Mumbai with whom i can interact and clear my doubts which local like service center, spare part availibility.

                              Now few more question:

How is the reliability of this vehile, in the long run?
reliability is very gud .U need nto worry man afterall its a japanese & even a from one of the world's largest producer of bikes "yamaha"

How frequest the bike gives the maintenance?
Well the yamaha bikes are known for making low maintenence bikes

How long I can run this bike with least maintenance?
well it mostly depends on ur riding style & ur care for the bike. But if ridden properly & maintained well then almost any bike (including gladiator) can last upto 8 years easily without any major troubles.

How this bike will fair for next 5-7 years time?
it can last very long time. come on you can still spot the Rx of 1990s still fine running on the road very well

                              More to come....

Sorry to bother you all with my silly questions and also thank you for your answers and patiance.

                              • Hi Guys,
I remember saying in this forum about my bike (Glad - SS run 490kms) makes a strange additional sound (mild squeaking)....
My friend suspects it to be a valve noise or some mis alignment or lossening of some tappers inside...
Have any of you come across a mild squesking sound when engine is warm n idle and ceases as you rev up the throtlle lever..
                                Your inputs are highly aprreciated..
