  • I am talking about A stock gladiator type I or type II competing with the Pulsar 150 DTSi, which is pulsar type II and upwards or a Honda Unicorn ..

Can we outrun them in a straight line ?

    Comment

    • No a gladiator cannot outrun a Pulsar 150 or any of the other 150cc bike...

        • ^^ There is anyways no need to outrun any bike... Let it be a 150 or even a 100cc... In the city anyways it is impossible mostly to go fast... And on highways... Gladi can cruise around 80... which is more than enough to keep up with a 150cc or a higher cc bike...

          • Accepted, The only reason i purchased my Glad was for its engine's reliability and to be frank i was brand loyal also, i know pulsar was super famous but too common and also knew unicorn had one hell of a mill which was too silky and noiseless.. my budget constraint made me chose this motor which i feel is value for money...

i was emotional while parting the rx but times making changes ...

Why should a pulsar be so famous in india.. ? whats so spl about a pulsar when we have nice models from yamaha ?

            • ^^^ Pulsars are actually very good bikes... I mean they are well priced... Offer a lot of goodies...The 135cc has something new to offer (4 valves)... The 150cc has a nice torquey engine... The 180cc engine now is a very refined one... And the 220cc needless to say is a great value for money machine with oodles of power... The earlier version had a few niggles here and there... But they are relatively maintenance free bikes... Spares are also cheap... So for the middle class and upper middle class buyer... Pulsar series is a good buy...

One more thing is that the Pulsar was well advertised from the very beginning... This helped the sales too...

And the Yamahas have good models to offer... But that has happened only recently... But even these models are priced high... I mean put 6000 rupees more and instead of buying a fz you can buy a pulsar 220... Which offers a lot more goodies than the Fz...

              • went to the SC today & got my bike serviced. I hav used the agip fully synthetic oil today (5w40). Found the engine to be smooth after using the oil. Even the price is also very reasonable when compared to motul. The SC guys told me tat the agip synthetic oil can run upto 5000 kms

The SC idiots hav rised my idle engine RPM to arnd 1500.

                      • ^^^well i am just trying make sure that they r doing their job correctly as we cant say if they r replacing our bike's parts or using just a mineral oil & billing us a price of synthetic oil.

from some previous posts i hav came to know tat u hav been using the agip synthetic in ur bike. how is the performance of the bike with tat oil??

                        • @madhav: Performance is good... Bike runs smooth with good throttle response... Bike continues to be smooth even after the engine oil is older... i mean till around 4000km( thats till where i have tested the oil)...

                            • prashanth,

Sorry for the late replies... i agree baby pulsar has 4 valves... how proven is this technology ? is it an outcome of the accelerated r&d done in order to keep with the tightly competing fz's and r15's ? i feel so as i saw a discover 150 also beign released... so all together there are n number of bajaj models..like discover 100,125,135,150, platina, xcd, pulsar 135,150,180,220.. who is going to support the older models.. will some guy be making the spares and accessories for all these variants.. i am sure bajaj cant keep supporting spares for all the models 3-4 years down the line...

i can still get a rx-100 danger light lens today... for 70 rupees ..

by the by i gave my bike for first service today ... he is charging me for the oil ? is it normal practice? to charge the customer for the oil and chain lubing?? pl explain ?

I guess spares will still be available... As all the models have common parts... I mean discovers, xcds, platina has similar spare parts... The pulsar series have parts in common... Spares will surely be available...

Bajaj is playing the pricing game nowadays... Thats y the Discover 150... I guess they might be able to pull this off too...

I don no how proven the 4 valve technology is but one must appreciate the effort... Only time will tell how well the bike runs... N i think the Pulsar 135 was made to bring down all commuter competition... I mean 125-135cc class... The FZ's and R 15 are i different segment all together... As we are seeing 220's are more of a competition to FZ's and R15's ( or maybe i should put it the other way when we look at sales figures)..

N yes the SC charge for oil and lubes... Only the labour is free
