  • I get the squeaking sound when the engine was warm n left idle, my engine has run 260 kms and not a single time was ridden against the conditions that are put forth for a vehcile during its run in period.. still i get the sound..

But i feel the engine is responding more and is eating up more miles each day (16-18 kms/day). Hoping to sort out the minor issues during first service.
I strongly feel we need to start working with out bikes ourselves in trying to understand the inside.. i am trying to figure out the Yamaha gladiator service manual pdf.. i ll trying to get the ybr 125's service manual ..give me sometime... once we get it we can start understanding from the detailed exploded diagrams they would have provided in it..
I dont have very good regard for yamaha electricals... the yam rx-135 electricals were poor thought the motor was pretty gpod..
Not all mechanics in the service station are inetersted in examining such minuute things..They have a 9 to 5 job attitude and do the work allotted in a lethargic and mechanical way ... such attitude was apparent the first day io took it to them when i had the rust and speed needle problem.. i think we better start learning ourselves rather than relying on them for each n everything..
Prashanth..and madhav what is the max rev range the bike can withstand in each gear .. have you every touched 10,000 rpm in 5th gear.. what was teh top speed at that time..

    in my 135 4 speed i have touched 10,500rpm n 4th gear.. and i made a solid 105 kph..

I get the same sound when the engine is cold & at idle RPM, the service center guys said there is some air escape hole in the Silencer which causes the sound, though was not satisfied with the reason they gave, yet to find the actual reason/fix for the squeaking sound.

            • What are the accessories that are worth spending? HAve you installed some accessories.. If so what are they?

I feel the seat cover, handle bar cups, master cylinder cap and rim tapes are decent accesories that can be looked upon.. your opinion please... are they still stocking those for sale ?

My ride has zero accessories except for the few reflector stickers on the rear mud flap nothing other than that, not even a crash guard.

Only accessory i always wanted was napoleon bar end mirror, will be getting them by month end, hopefully.

Me too in the same state. Tried CBZ Xtreme in test ride and liked it. But waiting for any new release from Yamaha in 150cc.

My Mind is flickering around CBZ & Unicorn. Dont want to go for Baja. TVS - vibrations. Higher cc bikes budget problem & fuel efficiency.

So waiting to see some changes in CBZ or Unicorn.

                  Cheers!
There are rumours that there is going to be a good looking 150cc Honda... Supposedly same mill as Unicorn... If that comes in that could be a good option for you... N now i have realized that fuel efficiency is not something that you should be looking at in a bike... Even if you do only to a certain extent... The difference or the amount you save is very marginal...

The gladi wont touch the rev limiter in 5th gear... Atleast i could never get it too... Otherwise it'll hit 9,500 in all other gears... N i dint look long enough to see what rpm i was on when i hit 108 on my bike...

How did you get a tacho fixed to the Rx?? Got the RXZ console??

I really am confused as to what this sound is... Air escape hole sounds like a strange thing.... Do they mean the air escape hole from the carb?? There is pipe which goes out from the carb and carries excess air out supposedly ( told to me by a mech in CBZ long time back)... Maybe that makes the sound...

N where are you getting the napoleon mirrors from?? There surely will be a boon while touring and even in the city...

I have rim stripes... I would suggest putting some reflective tape on the mud flaps too... Helps vehicles behind see your bike in the dark... Other than that its all your taste...

The so called air vent is on the silencer according to him, he was trying to show me the part of the silencer near the foot peg. Next time when im going to the SVC will try to find what exactly is the problem. But i get the squeaky sound only when the engine is cold, once its warm no such sounds.

Getting the napoleon mirrors from UK, after a long wait of one year....been longing for it from the day i saw it on sunil sir's comet

                    • 1. No, My frend had a rxz running in 5 th gear in full throttle.. So was I in parallel ... Later after we completed the ride.. he said he did 10,500 rpm.. mine in 4th gear would have done around 10,000..i did thought of fixing a rpm meter then but failed n dropped the idea.. 2. Two stroke is for performance and only performance.. Four stroke is for riding pleasure.. Agree to it completely..3. The sound that we r talking about comes from the center of the engine.... It might cease when you open throttle and when riding the vehcile. Will update more tomm on this...4. Yamaha india website claims the gladi to be a free revving engine.. I think it should touch the 10000 ,mark with its high flow air filter in Gear 5.6. RX 's had beautifully sculpted and strong chain guards protecting the chains from such hassles.how do you maintain your drive chains and sprockets frends? I saw a motul spray or something in the service station for that chains.. Do you use it off the servicce station as well..7. Will it not look odd when you stick reflective stickers?? What type of crash guard you got..I got a striaght one.. I wanted a butterfly one,,.Can we get it off the shelf ??

                      8. I am yet to look at the toolkit of the gladi ?

                      • @samschenker: Oh okay... Thats nice.... Would like to have a look at them when u get them... Seems like a very good investment...

@sriram: Yeah the open chain is a pain... If you actually go to see its just a money saving strategy by manufacturers nowadays... They save on the chain guard and that saves a lot of money if you see it in the light of how many bike they produce....
Clean and spray your chain every 15 days or so... Especially in the rainy season... Yes, motul chain spray can be bought and chain lubrication can be done at home... But avoid using petroleum based oils etc on the chain... Unlike the closed chain were such oils can be used... the open chain has rubber in the chain n thus using oils would harden the rubber reducing the chain's life...

I guess the reflective stickers might look odd... But its just for safety... Like when parking in a dark lane or riding in the night on the highways these stickers become hepful... N by sticker i jus mean a reflective tape...

I don have a crash guard... I don no if they are available off the shelf... But surely you could find something at your local bike spare and accessories dealer...

                        8. Its not much of a toolkit... Would suggest upgrading your toolkit with all necessary tools...

                        • Let me check what the rubber thing in the chain is all about ..

Well said about the chain guard thing..does the bike have a self cleaning mechanism as the chain travels into the loop... i hear R15 has a self cleaning mechanism.. so

if you plan to have a second bike which one you will prefer ??

                          I will prefer a RX135 5 speed or a R15.. what about you ?

The mirrors are attached to the side of the handlebar... Hence no obstruction...

The looks of it are subjective...
