@sriram- This is going to be my first bike. I live with my parents and we have a car but I needed a bike to travel to college so my dad's agreed. Well the reason I choose Gladiator was firstly because I felt it was the best looking bike in the 125 cc segment. I also came to know that it has a lot of power and can reach speeds of 80-90 kmph without much effort, which impressed me ( it's a 125 cc bike after all). I know that it doesen't give great millage but then which bike will if not kept or maintained properly? I also test drived it and felt it to be really comfortable too.
all said well but just for your help i would like to share that its a very low maintenance costing bike and gives an average of 60-65kmph if the rider can restrict himself from ripping as the 1255cc mill is having a lot of power underneath...
I was just searching for some more info on the bike and I came across this on mouthshut.com, The bike is recomended by 99% of it's members and there is not one single negative review. Amazing!!!
the bajaj & tvs are all new to the 3 valve & 4 valve engines while yamaha has been doing these things from a long ago. the bajaj & tvs are small kids compared to yamaha. so if something goes wrong by bajaj & tvs there is nothing to worry about. Mistakes are inevitable. The bajaj & tvs are emerging now so it will take time for them to make good engines.
hey guys my gladiator has completed 18000kms
i am planning to go for a trip this weekend,so before that i want to change my engine oil.
so wanted to know which oil should i use, cause recently my bike has become harsh when revd above 5000rpm.
and also wanted to know what should i use to grease the chain in monsoon

If you are still using mineral oil... Continue with Yamalube... Its a good oil.. If you want to use any other oil make sure its 20W40...
For your chain, only use chain spray if your bike is the ss/rs... As any petroleum based oil would harden the rubber in the o ring chain.... Get more frequent lubing done during the monsoon...

Yes Madhav Krishna, that is what i was trying to explain our friends here about tvs n bajaj being indian companies and learning from their r&d's and implementing them in the form of various models.. one guy is into the budget car business as well )
To be frank, bajaj is not a serious bike manufacturing company like a yamaha or a honda, that will reflect in their products .. tvs is better, much better
But Pulsar 150 type II was a good model, so was the suzuki fiero 150 in terms of power and economy and longevity

Btw, How old is your bike??
What spray do you recommend that we use, my chain sidewalls has started to become brownish now itself, my friend has a 200 pulsar old one but there is not a single speck of rust even in sidewalls..

As scillent killer said Motul Chain Cleaner and Motul Chain Spray...
And engine oils.... You can go for motul 3100 (i'm not sure about the grade though)
Or you can go veedol super swift if u r interested in semi synthetic oil... Comes pretty cheap and is good value for money.
Fully synthetic oil i would strongly recommend Agip 5W40. Been working like a charm on my bike. Petronas Sprinta also worked well on my bike.

i am totally agreed with you. The pulsar 150 UG2 was a very highly reliable & was more powerfull than the present pulsars & regarding the fiero i need not comment as it was a very dumdaar bike. I have seen guys who have done bangalore to pune up & down in less than 24hrs
Every company has their pros & cons like the yamaha is a bit costlier but long life, bajaj is cheaper but less reliability. To be honest i am also a brand loyal to yamaha like you but still there is no company which has only cons & no pros. Once upon a time i hated yamaha for producing a very high costed bikes but one of my uncle who is an incharge for karnataka & AP once took me to a yamaha showroom in vijayawada & showed me why their bikes are costly & explained the whole features of R15 & gave me a book about its technology. I became stunned to see the technology marvels the yamaha has done & after that i felt that the yamaha is having a highly reasonable price. For instance it is providing a single axis balancer in the yamaha gladiator, fz & R15 to increase the stability. Neways after driving the R15 from mathura to delhi(150kms) & experiencing the power anyone can fall in love with these bikes.

1. I dont know, what you are talking about? could you please brief me on this and if possible with some pictures,
2. R15 i heard does really well in a race track, if you come down to chennai sriperambadur, there are conducted races where in tvs apache s also take part and r15 gives them a good competition. tvs guys are equally tough..
3. As the bike is advanced both technically compared to its peers and equally complex too, so an r15 owner should be technically sound to some extent and should have a high MQ to make the best use of his machine and to maintain it that way... a cd100 rider cannot maintain a r15 with his fill it shut it forget it attitude..
@Prashanth: Will the Motul Chain Cleaner remove the rust formations or the Chain lube spray will remove it?? are you talking about the tall can with an extended tiny tube nozzle??
^^ Yes it is that type of can... The motul chain spray is supposed to be resistant to rust... Many use WD-40 on their chain... Some say its ok... Some say its not good... So i don really no... These are the can i am talking about
A friend of mine is using michelin m45 on his gladi... he wishes to go for m35... somebody suggest me good options...
good cornering grip, and straightline braking is in mind..

got the motul chain lube for my bike but couldn't get the motul chain cleaner.
so wanted to know can i use anything else to clean the chain? or directly use the chain lube
