  • @All: I have a funny but meaningful question:
Is the saree guard the same for the Glady&R15?
Does the old model of Glady come with a ladies' footrest as a clip-on to the sareeguard? Coz I don't think the latest one has it.
Can the older model's ladies' footrest be clipped onto the new Glady's sareeguard as well? i.e., if it can be done&the guards are the same for the Glady as well as R15, then I would like to get it done to my R15 too.

In case you guys didn't understand my question, I'll explain it a bit more clearly:
I want to fit the old model Glady's ladies' footrest onto my R15's sareeguard. Please find out&let me know if it is possible.
    Thanks.
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

    • Got the bike serviced at CBZ.. Chain spoket changed, carb cleaned , engine oil changed to castrol active 4T... I had asked them for power 1.. but the mech said that it gud to go for the Active as power 1 will not make a difference after 10000 km..he said that power 1 would have been gud if I had used it before 10000 km.. Will check for a month if not gud will change the oil... Now the bike has a new problem.. It does not go past 65 km/hr.. even getting to 60 km/hr was difficult... the tacho revs only till 5k when ridding.... when u put the bike in neutral it does rev normally. The idling is set to 1100 rpm..I guess the manuel says 1300 - 1500.. also not sure if they have set the carb for a lean mixture... can this be the cause of the problem?...

        • Guys,

Any idea which is the Yamaha recommended engine oil for Gladiator DLX? Is it the different oil for DLX & SS/RS.

          Is it 20W40 or 10W40?

The engine oil as mentioned in manual is 20w40 ( I have a RS , not very sure if its different)... but you can also go for the 10w40.... Yamlube is a good option.. I have castrol active 20w40 4T on my machine... does seem ok.. just done 200 km after oil change...

            • @arunrajmail : All versions of the gladiator require the same grade of engine oil and thats 20w40. My source of information: user manuals of all the bikes. I recommened the Motul 3000 T, I have tested nearly all engine oils available in the market, which include castrol activ 4t, power1, veedol super swift, yamalube and among all i have found Motul to be the best.

I am sorry, havent been online for quite sometime else I would have answered your query. Here's how the saree guard is on the old Gladiator.

As you can see, though the whole saree guard and footrest is one single unit but the footrest is still welded. I dont think you can get the footrest alone. The whole assembly as a whole is available at Yamaha Spares centre. Try checking your local Yamaha SC since some people dump the saree guard. You might get lucky and find one. Cut the footrest and get it welded on the R15.

Thanks buddy, I cannot view the pic right now, I will have a look from home tonight.
I don't mind buying the entire assembly, but provided it clips onto the provided holes in my bike too!

Thanks, this won't clip on to the R15's rear panel, it has 2 points whereas the R15 has only one.
What about the other Glady model which comes with a black sareeguard?

The newer Gladiator SS/RS have the black sareeguard. I cant say for sure if it will fit or not. Some member with an SS/RS might clarify. BTW here's a pic of the new one's saareguard. This wont be comfortable for ladies to keep their foot on though

I took the bike to castrol bike zone again...they increased the idiling to 1350..and also tuned the carb again...but still the bike does not accelerate beyond 60-65 kmph.... guys ..what could be wrong ?... This started happening after the bike was serviced at CBZ....before even with a worn out chain and spoket it would easily do 95 kmph...
I contacted CBZ today morning and they say that the its because of the clutch plate and it may have to be changed. They also said that before the service as the engine oil was "rough" the clutch didnt slip.... cant accept the explanation because the last time the engine oil was changed was at arround 17000 km ... and this time it was serviced at 18400 km..
Can engine oil be the culprit... I have castrol active 4T 20w40 now as recommended by CBZ mechanic.

Well thats sad..why dont you take a second opinion also..maybe from a Yamaha SC or if not then from a known local mechanic..ask your friends..someone is bound to have a good mechanic in your area..
Clutch problems will come only if you use too much clutch while riding.
Glady has a anti engine knocking system..I forgot the technical name..so it is really not required to depress clutch too much..only when gear needs to be changed..thats all..
                              get a second opinion also..thats my advice..Glady should easily do 90 +..

                              • Well DASCO ..dont want to give the bike to Yamaha SC..had very bad experience with them..checked with a few friends..no good mechanics in our area... and as far as what the service mechanic at CBZ said, its a problem with clutch sliping... but I dont feel that to be happening.. because if the clutch was slipping then when you hold the throttle at max then slowly the speed should increase..but it does not....then again..I'm not the expert...

The CBZ guys said that they will have a look at the bike this weekend ..

can anyone tell me how to tune the carb...
