It's the same one that was on mine. I needed to confirm since a 'pro racer' (on the famous social networking site)mentioned that the Gladi has a Bosch plug and how K&N is useless compared to the high quality of the stock paper filter in the Gladiator.

Hmmm.... You don really have to change to castrol... If its a personal choice then ok... Otherwise yamalubes are pretty good... N i'm pretty sure the service centers use yamalube... Watever you use make sure its mineral for now... N that it is 20W40....Originally posted by sudhanshu_gore View Posthi ravi, prasath, bala

does that make some difference? My bike's second service was done in Orion Motors and I was not happy as they doesn't give you proper service at all. Kinda careless...Originally posted by prashanth lobo View Post^^^ I do not service at a yamaha SC now... First few services were done in Pacer Motors ( i think the first three)... After that i have been servicing my bike at Castrol Bike Zone ( Ramamurthynagar)..._________________

A difference as far as satisfaction is there... Cos i stay with my bike when they service.... So i know whatever is said is getting done.... Unlike the yamaha sc where i am really not sure...
N only do this if u r sure you dont want all your free services n stuff... Because if you miss one free service n do it somewhere outside... Then you wont be able to avail a free service at yamaha sc the next time...

Talking about free services. I got my bike serviced on the 1st of this month from MSP Moto World and since i was apparently 20 days late in giving the bike for service, the guy refused to count the 5th free service, which was as per schedule and said he can consider only the 6th free service. I didn't want to waste more time by going back to Bangalore wheels so i agreed. I hope to get the 5th free service used up in the next service, which undoubtedly, will be at Bangalore Wheels. Thumbs down for MSP MW.
Also, i had to get my Gladi's Handlebar replaced as some jerk caused the bike to fall, in my absence. It landed on it's handle and since it had to take the weight of the bike, it took a serious bend. Cost me 200 bucks.
Prashant, regarding the K&N fitment, could you please explain what upjetting means?Right now, 11 Bhp at 7500 Rpm.

@ sharkbite: See what happens when u put a K&N filter is that it takes in more air than your stock air filter into the carb... Now the carb is set for your old air filter and thus will run lean...
Running lean is having more air than fuel in the air fuel mixture... Running lean for too long is not good for your engine... After sometime there will be lot of wear and tear in the engine because of lean air/fuel mixture...
To counter this we need to upjet... That is changing the main jet( lets in fuel to the carb) of the carb to a bigger size... And then tune the carb to get a proper air/fuel mixture.... This will take some time and an experienced mech... It'll take a few trial n errors to find the correct air/ fuel mixture...

Gave the bike for servicing at CBZ..changed oil to yamalube 20w40 SL, JASO MA. The engine does feels a lot smoother, definitely better than castrol active , but still too early to say...will post results once I cover some distance...

Can anyone tell me if a 12v7ah battery can be used on a Gladiator RS . The standard battery rating is 12v5ah for RS/SS and other electric start gladis. I checked with a few mechanics and battery shop owners, they had no clue on what they were talking. From what I have learned from my online research (googling) the 12 volt is the voltage rating and 'ah or ampere hours' is the energy rating, not to be confused with amperes, the current rating.
Has anyone used a battery of higher rating other than 12v5ah?
Also can I fit a higher wattage headlight bulb like the Halonix +60 55/60W without changing any wiring or RR ?.. has anyone tried it ?Last edited by arunrajmail; 10-21-2009, 01:19 PM.
