OEM Crash guard
You know, there was Gladiator owners meet with Mr. Sanjay Tripathi & Mr. Kurt Matsuda in Bangalore. Folks were not happy with the cheapo chrome crashguard. & Mr. Tripathi mentioned Yamaha actually supplies a black OEM CG. The goddamn dealers dont stock it, and pass on cheap stuff to us!.Originally posted by split_blood View Post

Guys finally I have bought a bike and my first bike is a Gladiator RS . Just bowled by its looks ,it looks as an 150cc. Some of my observations :
1. great & comfortable seat
2. gerabox is a little bit hard probably bcoz its a new bike
3. Excellent handling
4. The disk brake is now of aluminium instead of steel probably yamaha is learning some things from bajaj.
can anyone tell me how much fuel each point indicates in the fuel meter, there are 17 points and also during oil changes 1 or 1.2l should be filled.

Trust me,living with the Gladiator for the past eight months has taught me everything. The first time when it conked off 18km from civilization,I attained enlightenment.

congrats
great buy.
The RS will really floor you over.Try taking some pics with a blue R15 alongside your bike or even a blue R1
. It will look good.
Enjoy sports biking. the handling of the glady is amazing.
also go touring, long runs, it is really amazing on the glady.
watch out for rear brake light switching on without you applying brakes.
this means your battery will drain out soon. once you spot it take it immediately to SC.
Enjoy!!!ride safe

That scale is not linear & not trustworthy. I tried calculating with my mileage+ reading on hitting reserve etc, turns out not too close to reality.Originally posted by uday_nugur View Postcan anyone tell me how much fuel each point indicates in the fuel meter, there are 17 points and also during oil changes 1 or 1.2l should be filled.
Oil change qty = 1 L; Dont worry SC will do it for you. That's the only thing they do proper!

Joking apart, you can get a carry bag fitted on the bike. It will be easier to detach it than it is to disassemble the side case. Will look better as well. And it will be lighter.Originally posted by TomSawyer View PostBless you! Explains why you are Philosopher on Wheels

banged into a tavera
derar all,
2 nights ago, while following a tavera in traffic I banged straight onto its rear side.
Lot of noise, thanks to the plastic used in the tavera cladding and mud guard.
it happened because some guy jumped in front of the tavera and he braked hard. me was just behind riding my glady, thinking about Sonam Kapoor
when suddenly he braked and I did not.
small damages sustained on the bike. front right indicator not working, fairing broke but really the crash gaurd did save my leg from any impact with the tavera.
Ride safely guys, and dont think of Sonam Kapoor while in traffic.

And think about the Gladiator when you are out riding. You can think about Sonam elsewhere.

A safety concern
hope you are all right buddy!Originally posted by DASCO View Post... crash gaurd did save my leg from any impact with the tavera.
An oil slick caught my front wheel, had a fall, & CG took the brunt.
Even after a not-so-severe fall the welded joints in the crash guard would have obviously weakened.
So Is it time to replace the CG , or straighten the bends , add weld tacks & continue ?Kaveriappa

Recently after an hour of spirited riding in order to catch a friend who was leaving for Mumbai,I managed to stretch my Gladiator to the limits..........my limits actually, not the Gladiator's
However that seems to have sparked off some issues. There's a faint but audible buzz going on whenever I use the front brakes. It vanishes as soon as I let go off the lever. Cant seem to place the sound to its origin. The only thing I can confirm is that it's not the sound of vibrations. Has anyone else faced this issue?
Can any Gladiator owner confirm the fact that the Gladi sounds the same on choke as it does on normal start?
I haven't had to use the choke since I went for the Iridium Plugs.Last edited by nightwing; 03-18-2009, 01:43 AM.sigpic
