The original handle bars are good enough as far as I'm concerned. Why do you want the split bars anyway? For the looks or for something else?

I find the original bars very comfortable.

If you must change the handle bars, I'm sure thre would be many people around who would have done that to the Gladiator. Search for that in the previous posts.

The front Forks and the handle bar are bent slightly and headlight and the fairing is completely damaged and need replacement.

My mechanic says that the forks and the handle bar bends can be corrected accurately (done on some hydraulic machine) but I need to replace the headlight assembly and the fairing. I inquired with the local Yamaha service centers at Chennai (Paras and Ambal Yamaha) about the headlight assembly and the fairing and they are saying that the items are out of stock and it will take more than a month to get them from factory.

Now things to do to get the bike running are
    - Get the bends on the fork and the handle bar corrected through my mechanic.
    - Make do with a normal round headlight till the Glady's headlight stock is available.

Please advise whether a normal round headlight will fit my Gladiator.

    Thank You.

Since Gladiator is not a very popular bike these days, it's possible that the spare availability for Gladi has taken a hit across the country. However, I would suggest you check with other Yamaha dealers in your city for availability. Someone might have the spares available.

Also, SS125's specs are very similar to the Galdiator's so you can try your luck with SS125 spares too.

If nothing works, you can go with the round headlight until you get the actual one from Yamaha. It depends on the mechanic fitting the round headlight how good it looks or how good it fits.

If the bike is left untouched without being ridden the battery gets drained out. Usually people who ride on highways can extract more life from the battery.
The battery gets charged when its being ridden at a constant speed for few kms. All You need to make sure is You top up the battery with distilled water once in a month.

And regarding the DC conversion I don't have any idea.

I guess there is no one from Chennai who can help me with contacts for DC convertion. Any other thread/forum you can suggest ?

Assuming I would be getting a DC conversion done in the near future, should I go for a particular regulator assembly ? where can I get one in Chennai?
Am not sure if the regulator assembly is blown out. The usual symptoms are blown electricals (bulb etc) & battery not being charged.

    Get it confirmed.

2000 to 2500 for gladi? Then think how much they ll charge for R1 or FZ1

    • Battery incapable of button start for the past 3 months.
Get your regulator assembly checked first. If its fine then better change the battery.
    • Headlights are glimmering in sync with my engine rpm (again may be due to battery)
      As said above
    • Front shock absorbers kind of sticking when compressed. It goes down when I brake, stays compressed a few seconds before releasing.
      Its normal
    • The chain is getting loose and looks a bit rusty.
Get it oiled by sae90 gear oil at every 1-2 weeks.

Paid services are getting very costly. I thought I should start doing my own maintenance. I did try my hand at cleaning the spark plug, air filters, changing oil, tuning the carburetor mix and adjusting idling speeds etc. Thanks to detailed videos on youtube by yamahass125 (Bob)!!

I want to change my battery and upgrade my headlights to HID. There was not much help on youtube of elsewhere on the net on the how-to. So my questions:
    • Amaron or exide? Any instructions that would help open up and change the dead battery.
I got myself an exide recently. But I would suggest you to go with amaron. Its not that the exide is bad or something. But its the fact that amaron provides a warranty of 4 years+.
    • The service manual which was linked in xBhp for gladiator is not showing anymore. Can someone point me to a recent link?
    • Is there any mechanic in Chennai who could do a DC conversion and HID installation?
    • Do I have to change the chain and/or sprocket?
See the rear sprocket properly. If the teeth are not sharp & are short in size then perhaps its time to get a new one. Mine has done 23k kms and no sprocket change yet.
    • Anything I could do to correct my shock absorbers?

On a generic level is there a Yamaha website that lists spares compatible with Gladiator SS models? Thanks in advance for any help you could provide...
